Paul Barrett wrote about a discussion whether or not we should amend the second amendment. He used the words from a retired supreme court justice Paul Stevens to help justify the points on why we should amend it. The main points that came out are that the 2nd amendment was made for militias or the military to bear arms and didn’t let the federal government regulate weapons but only left it to the state governments. The right to bear arms is essentially not an unlimited one. As the country grows older the interpretation of the 2nd amendment changes as well.

Ted Nugent has a few good points on the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms. He states how he believes that it is such an obvious right that it shouldn’t have to be permitted. Criminals know they can 't just walk into a gun store give them cash and walk away in five minutes. They will buy guns off the black market and illegal arms dealers with their serial numbers scratched off. It 's easier and quicker to do. But now in the common citizens interest it 's incredibly difficult and tiring just to buy a gun for the common law abiding citizen. The democratic party believes that there should be even further restrictions on gun control.

It is prohibited for people with a criminal record to have any kind of possession of assault weapons. I also want to decrease the shipment of guns to the black market. There are a majority of post-criminals with access to guns which then cause the percentage of gun violence to raise. Today I will be talking about one of the Amendments that I choose and it was the second amendment. The second amendment is “The Right To Keep and Bear Arms” I will give you three reasons on this to make you choose that there should be the second amendment. Should an american who has the right credentials have the right to bear arms? Should the be able to have a concealed weapon and or be able to open carry a rifle or other firearm? The answer is yes to both of these questions the average american who can take and pass a background check given by the government. The right to carry a firearm whether it is open carry or concealed carry has been in effect ever since the signing of the declaration of independence in 1776. This has been a great asset to americans, one the second amendment gives americans a sense of security, it also helps people with self defence and also the protection of their family.

Recently, on June 1, 2015, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed the Campus Carry Law, allowing licensed holders to carry a handgun on college and university campuses, effective next year, August 1, 2016. Gun Control laws need to be controlled, that is indeed true, proven by the 335 public shootings in the country this year alone. Open carry will not be a solution to this growing problem, it may in fact help increase its numbers.

The Bill of Rights acted as a compromise between the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists, which would then lead to the authorization of the Bill of Rights. If it wasn’t for the Anti-Federalists demand for a Bill of Rights, it would’ve never been added to the Constitution, which would most likely lead to another abusive and corrupt central government. One very significant right listed in the Bill of Rights is Freedom of Religion, This right is critical to America because for some people religion is their gateway to happiness or is the basis of their life.
