An unknown author once said, “All the hard work, all the sacrifices, all the sleepless nights, struggles, downfalls, it all pays off.” When the author said this quote, they meant that if you have a goal in life and you are trying to catch your dream. Your hardwork will pay off if you work for it. Never give up even if you are struggling it will pay off. In the book Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls, he shows that Billy is very hardworking. Billy’s lack of giving up helps him stay determined. Wilson Rawls shows that Billy is very hardworking in chapters 1-6. Billy was so hardworking to get his dogs in these chapters. For Example it took Billy two years in order to get his dogs. He had to raise/earn $50 (which is $500 today). One day Billy was in the woods and found scarps of a fisherman that he had left behind. Billy most importantly found a sports magazine. In the magazine he found a coupon to get his dogs. Billy traveled a long way barefoot to go and get his dogs once he got the money. This can prove that Billy is super hardworking. In chapters 7-11 of the book Where The Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls Billy shows hard work wen he is hunting with Little Ann and Old Dan. One time when they were hunting in the woods Little Anne accidently fell in the freezing cold water. When this dramatic event happened Billy did not know what to do. Billy wanted help but he knew it would be too late when someone got their. He was so nervous and did not know what to do.
and i feel stuck and defeated. Antwone Fisher lived a life of nights like these but he still grew up to be someone. Fisher’s story is a reminder that it’s possible to rise above the circumstances. It helped me to realize that no matter the circumstances, as long as they work hard, anyone has the chance to do something
This scene in the book contributes to the reader's understanding of the connection and love Billy has with/for his dogs as they do with him. This also builds onto Billy’s character showing that he is willing to risk his life to save something/someone that he loves, in this case being Little Ann. The book had more major events in the plot making it’s plot a lot more thicker and interesting compared to the
Everyone has faced an obstacle in their life that has either knocked them or they just kept going and dealt with it in order to overcome it. Sometimes an obstacle or odd can be so bad that a person just wants to give up, but Peekay never did. He was determined through the entire book to become a champion boxer after he was inspired by a friend. He was knocked down by many people, but no matter what happened to him, he came out on top and never backed down from the obstacle or odd that stood in his way. In the book The Power of One, Bryce Courtenay uses the theme overcoming overwhelming odds to prove that determination is key, that even the littlest person can be the strongest, and that giving up is not an option to matter what.
Because Billy encountered many life-changing events and gained independence and determination throughout the novel, he is the most dynamic character in Where the Red Fern Grows. After Billy’s various examples of gained independence and determination, he is the character who developed most in the book. At the beginning of Where the Red Fern Grows, Billy is just
Billy is said to become unstuck in time to different events in his life. He flashes to memories of Dresden, which is the war that he participated in. He also has episodes of his flight crash, he knows how he will die, and how his wife dies. This book is so sporadic, the audience never truly knows when this book is taking place in Billy’s life. Each page could contain three or more different events in Billy’s
One can be a “clod hopper, a farmer’s kid” (Line 13) but still do great things in this world with the right amount of drive within them. Personally, I relate to that very strongly as I myself, am a farmer’s boy. I was once told, “You farm kids don’t work for anything.”, “Do you have the grades for that school?” and “You better thank your grandpa for everything that you have,” all within the same conversation before I could interject a single word. Being told that did one thing to me and one thing only; it lit a fire in my soul and ever since that day I have worked even longer and harder to prove that it has been my ambition that has gotten me to where I am today, not just my grandfather’s.
In the story, “Fighter” by Walter Dean Myers, and throughout the story, Billy is fighting himself and life. First off, in beginning of the story it states on page 27, “Billy Gates told his wife that he was just going to the gym to work out. If he’d told her the truth, that he was going to fight again, he knew she would have cried.” I think this shows that Billy is going to fight, but he knows his wife does not want him to fight. But, he knows that he needs to fight, but not necessarily wants to fight.
This shows how much Billy genuinely cares about Old Dan and Little Ann. He’s willing to sacrifice his life for them, despite the risks. Another difference in the plot events is how Billy obtained the golden cup from the champion coon hunt. In the novel, Billy won the coon hunt and was given the golden cup by the judge. “After a short speech, he handed it to me, saying, "Son, this makes me very proud.
In order to prove this is agrees to go undercover into Costello’s gang and become and informant. Billy is a state trooper and
(43) This means Salva is an achiever because instead of not helping because he was a child, he helped all the adults and got reeds. Salva leads a group of thousands of boys to Kenya with his dedication and determination. The text states “I will get us safely to Kenya, he thought. No matter how hard it is” (81) This demonstrates Salva being a hard-worker because he is helping thousands of boys cross to Kenya.
Before Billy was placed in the ward he had a girlfriend. This was one of the few people in his life besides his mother. Billy looked for a relationship from this woman and wanted to marry her. His disorder makes him feel the need to have a close relationship with those around him and he usually picks one to strove on. In this instance, he chose his girlfriend at the time.
Your parents are always telling you to do do the right thing, aren't they? Priscilla Cummings did not miss the opportunity to convey the same message. In The Red Kayak, Priscilla Cummings is trying to show that doing the right thing, no matter the consequences is always the correct path to take. In this paper, I will give a few examples of why I think the theme in the story is to always do the right thing. These examples are that Brady had the choice to call out to the kayak, the scene with Digger and J.T. in court, and I will show you this in a more philosophical way.
The price of one dog was $25 but Billy wanted two. Billy really wants the dogs so he worked hard to make $50. It took Billy two years to make $50. Another way Billy is determined is he was hunting one night however, his dogs tree a mountain lion. Old Dan barks like wolf.
This last fight brings into have the most prominent influence of those refinements that are presented in every character of billy including
One of these examples is, after he is kicked out of school he still continues to learn from books in the library. This shows that he will not give up on his education. Furthermore, when William is building his windmill people in the village think he is crazy, and they mock him constantly. But he does not let that stop him, he just uses it as fuel to keep going. On the other hand, sometimes William needed help to find the resolve to keep going.
