Following Romeo’s attendance at the Capulet’s party, Tybalt angrily declares he will punish Romeo for the disrespect shown towards the Capulet name by death. However, he is prevented by Lord Capulet saying Romeo is welcomed, upsetting him further, Tybalt seethes, “Boy, this shall not excuse the injuries that you have done to me. Therefore turn and draw” (Shakespeare 3.1 27-28). Declining Tybalt's offer to battle since he now views Tybalt as family, Romeo turns to leave, but not before his friend Mercutio eggs Tybalt on to fight him instead. As Mercutio is slain by a swipe of Tybalt's blade, Romeo loses what little restraint he has left, murdering Tybalt in return for his dear friend’s death. Surprised by his own actions, Romeo soon begins to realize the repercussions for killing Tybalt and as he calms how Juliet will see him after what he's done is what attacks his mind next. Due to Romeo being banished from Verona and set out to Mantua, Juliet, and Friar Laurence devise a plan to get her safely with Romeo in Mantua. However, it becomes sullied once Romeo hears word Juliet is dead, he makes his way back to Verona where he ventures in the Capulet grave to find his love dead. Romeo cries solemnly, “Come, bitter conduct, come, unsavoury guide, Here's to my love!” (Shakespeare 5.3 87-88). Romeo’s obsession for their love to exist and be alive is what shifted him into the decision of killing himself over Juliet. Just before Romeo dies from the quick work of the poison, Juliet awakes from her unconsciousness, an effect of the potion the Friar laid her under, and believes her plan had worked. But, as she watches Romeo closer, she realizes their plan has failed as he falls dead upon her. Romeo refuses but Tybalt being the fiery hot-headed character that he was who acted on his emotions alone without thinking of the consequences, fought Mercutio anyway. This lead to Mercutio being slain and causing Romeo to burst into anger and kill Tybalt. By killing Tybalt, Romeo was exiled by the Prince. With Romeo exiled from Verona, he is not able to reach Juliet safely, thus forcing Juliet to make an elaborate false death so that she could be with Romeo.

The sides of the family not getting along was the reason Mercutio and Tybalt fought, and they both ended up dead,and Romeo was banished. Tybalt was the instigator of most of the fights that happened in the story, in lines 35 through 140 in the story Tybalt is encouraging the brawl that killed both himself and Mercutio. He was also the reason the Prince passed the law of banishment in lines 185 through 195.
Romeo escalated his relationship with Juliet too quickly. When Romeo first lays eyes on Juliet he forgets all of his love for others and is drawn towards her. After knowing her for less than a day he gets Friar Lawrence to marry them, which was suggested to be bad for a relationship to move that quickly. Also, Romeo's judgment caused his death because of his rage towards Tybalt when he kills Mercutio, Romeo is devoid of better judgment and kills Tybalt, which causes his exile and creates even move problems. When Romeo finds out that Juliet has "died" he acts quickly and reacts towards the news by buying poison.
Regardless, Romeo does not wish to fight and instead tries to make peace with him because of his marriage with Tybalt’s cousin. The fact that Romeo is not willing to fight back enrages Mercutio and leads to Tybalt killing him. Which then results in Romeo avenging Mercutio and killing Tybalt. Romeo then gets banished which causes Juliet to seek help from the Friar and so forth. By killing Tybalt, not only did the archival Capulet family detest Romeo further, but Romeo also got banished from Verona.
