Why Is Alexander Hamilton Bad

Throughout Alexander Hamilton’s life he was thoroughly involved in American Politics and was always involved in the latest issues in some way or form. As soon as Hamilton arrived in America he began to investigate the ever-growing tensions between England and America. One of Hamilton’s first known political pieces was on the Boston Tea Party in which he endorsed the unity of colonies and denounced the port closure and un-fair taxations. After this he started to gain a reputation for publishing anti-British pieces. Another well-known piece were the Farmer Refuted essays in which he insisted on colonial unity with an extreme confidence in his views.

Although it can be argued that Thomas Jefferson’s government policies were better than Alexander Hamilton’s, Hamilton, overall, had the better policy because of his persistence to progress, his federalist beliefs, and his understanding of the issues with Jefferson’s trust in the common man’s morals. Thomas Jefferson can be described as a leader who lived in the present*, whereas Alexander Hamilton had his vision set on the future of the country. He saw America’s strength lying in its commerce, and saw industry, trade, and manufacturing as forces of progression. Alexander Hamilton was a federalist at the time, and he set out to expand the national government power. This would allow states “to retain their rights and individuality”. But hamilton didn’t think of his version of government without inspiration from the British. He believed that it was the best form of government at the time, “consisted of a strong monarch, an assembly of aristocrats called the House of Lords, and another assembly of commoners called the House of Commons.” This system allowed the people to participate in government via representation in Parliament.

When it comes to Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton one of the first things that comes to mind is there different views for what America should be like. They were both apart of different political parties known as the Federalist and the Democratic-Republican party which ultimately led them to wanting different things for America. As the two became rivals it was no surprise that this would go down as one of the greatest event in Americas history. Which would ultimately end up shaping what America is today and continue doing so every day.

Alexander Hamilton once stated, “There is a certain enthusiasm in liberty that makes human nature rise up above itself, in acts of bravery and heroism.” Alexander Hamilton was an immigrant that came to America from Nevis, an island in the West Indies, and in later years wrote 51 of The Federalist Papers and also became the First Secretary of the Treasury. However, he also fought during the Revolutionary War and supported the creation of the Constitution. Hamilton contributed to many things during his life including helping with the Revolutionary War and the framework of our nation. Alexander Hamilton is known for accomplishing and supporting many things that built our country.

Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of Treasury of the United States, had a lot going for himself being a man that came from poverty to success, and he was a man “all powerful and fails at nothing which he attempts” admitted a congressman in 1791 (Tindall and Shi). Born in the Caribbean in the West Indies, abandoned by his father and orphaned at the age of 13 by his late mother who had died. Later moved to New York, became a lawyer and transitioned to nationalism thus giving him the important role of handling the weight of the debt America had accumulated $54 million deep after the Revolutionary War (Digital History). Taking time to understand the formation of our country takes a lot of time, patience, and understanding as well as being willing to learn all of the different government systems. During this time, the thirteen colonies had a desire to be free from Great Britain due to taxation and other issue’s. In order to become free from Great Britain, the colonies had to sign a document which is known as the Article of Confederation. After the situation with Great Britain was solved, another problem had to be handled. One problem that the colonies had was making decisions with each other.

Both men have made very significant accomplishments during their lifetime. Jefferson became the Vice President of the United States. This position caused problems because the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches were in favor of the Democratic party and Jefferson was in favor of the Republican party. Alexander Hamilton (2004) is a detailed true story of one of the most important figures in American history. It is based on Hamilton’s early life. As a politician, as a revolutionary war hero, and the first treasury secretary, Hamilton dedicated his life and intellect to unifying and strengthening the United States. Hamilton in truth did perhaps more than any other one person to secure the power of the American Union. Though he was never president, he was a hero deemed as a true founding father, title he kept till his death.

Even though Hamilton wasn’t one of our presidents, he showed great leadership throughout his terms in the secretary of treasury, he practiced law after the wars, and he also showed leadership being one of our Founding Fathers (who were responsible winning our wars against England.) After Hamilton was drafted for the Constitutional Convention by New Year, Hamilton got to attend a meeting in Philadelphia. While Alexander was in Philadelphia he had little to no impact on the convention because he didn’t fully represent New York. Even though Hamilton didn’t represent the Federalist (who strongly opponents to sign the new constitution), Hamilton signed the new constitution as an individual. Then after Hamilton signed the for the new constitution, he got to write “at least two-thirds of the essays” that included some of the most important ones that would explain the powers of each of the branches.

Alexander Hamilton was a major part in the making of the United States of America. Firstly, He was George Washington’s protege during the Revolutionary War and and was part of the Continental Congress in 1782, 1783, and 1788 Secondly, He was the first Secretary of the Treasury in the United States. Lastly, Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton got into a dispute from the election of 1801 and the standoff led to Alexander Hamilton killed on that day. In conclusion, Alexander Hamilton was a major part in the making of the United States of America.

Being a good leader does not necessarily mean shining in the spotlight. Some of the most revolutionary and successful leaders are the ones who worked the lights. Self-awareness, self-direction, vision, ability to motivate, and social awareness are the characteristics of a good leader according to SIY Leadership Institute (SIYLI). There have been many accomplished and renowned leaders in America since (and before) the 1770’s, ones whose names are universally known and others who are unfamiliar. Of the latter is Alexander Hamilton, who showed potential since the minute he was put on earth, for no matter what obstacles were thrown in his way he forged ahead and never threw away his shot.

Hamilton vs. Jefferson Visions to Reality     Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton both had very defined visions of the scope and power of the new federal government, how they saw the future of the economic development, and what the United States society should become. In my opinion Alexander Hamilton had more of an impact on the United States during the 1820’s and on contemporary government when compared to Thomas Jefferson. His policies did not strictly work during that time and many of his ideas are still seen in today’s society. Jefferson’s views and ideas on/of the national bank, higher tariffs, debt assumption, The Federalist Party, and his support of the ratification of the Constitution are all reasons in why his policies and visions came closer to becoming a reality.     Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton, molded the gatherings that provoked to the twofold party system under which the U.S. works today.
