Why Is Theodore Roosevelt Important

Theodore Roosevelt was on of the most famous presidents of his time. One reason this is, is because he wanted to build the Panama Canal. In 1904, Teddy Roosevelt had established the idea of building a Canal. He also decided that he wanted to build it in Panama. He thought, “Oh, well the French did it, so why not us!”

Who was Theodore Roosevelt? Well, he was the 26th President of the United States. Before that he was the 25th Vice President. He liked to hunt. He was married, twice.

Theodore Roosevelt is generally viewed as the first modern President of the Unified States. In fact, it is safe to say that the high level of respect and influence that the office has today is because of Roosevelt. Through the force of his personality and aggressive executive action, Roosevelt was able to make the president the center of American politics. He believed that as president, that the government he maintained, should serve as an agent of improvement for the people.

He wrote several books and had a career in Republican politics. Becoming president at the age of 42 he was the youngest person to assume the presidency. He became president of the United States when the former president, McKinley, died after being shot in an event. Theodore served as the overseer of the people. He dealt with problems by mediating the conflict between the organization and the people.

Prior to the Canal, ships and carriers would have to travel around the entirety of South America in order to get to the other side of the United States. Franklin Roosevelt was a very influential and important president in American history who had an immense impact on the American economy and social policy during the 1930’s and 40’s and throughout the future of America, he also shared some ideas with the author John Steinbeck. He idolized Theodore Roosevelt, and took great inspiration from him. He has served as president for longer than any other president in history, serving for three terms instead of the usual two that is generally accepted as the maximum amount of time that a president can serve. He drove America out of the great depression and through the second world war.

Roosevelt’s social programs reinvented the role of government in Americans ' lives, while his presidency during World War II established the United States ' leadership on the world. The act allowed the government to pay farmers to limit the crops they grew and buy livestock. The Social Security Act is probably the most famous of Roosevelt's acts. The act set up a huge pension system that covered 35 million people. The Emergency Banking Act was imperative at the time. The act help increase the public's trust in banks when they had none.
