What Whale Poaching Really is
By: Logan B
I believe whale poaching should be outlawed around the world. Bans have warned people to stop hunting the whales but still over 2,000 whales are killed each year. In 1958, thirty eight thousand whales were killed since then, the amount of whales killed has dropped to thirty six thousand whales from that time. There are almost four whales killed each day. If someone is caught violating the laws it will result in civil penalties up to $11,000 or criminal penalties up to $100,000 plus, one year of prison time. I am against whale poaching and believe it is a major wrongdoing in the world. Two thousand whales die a year for almost no reason. This is why whale poaching should be illegal all around the world.

We can 't be certain that whale populations can survive large-scale hunting as well as the other daily threats they face. Ban or no ban, whaling remains inhumane and whales are unsuitable for use by humans in this way.” On The Nature Publishing Group they say that “ Major disadvantages of whaling include the potential extinction of some whale species, the unsafe levels of mercury that whale meat can contain and the potential harm to ecosystems that removing whales can cause. In addition, whale watching is a lucrative business in many parts of the world, and whaling could have an impact on that activity.”But the people at People of our Everyday Life say that “Whaling provides a large number of employment opportunities and economic gains”. In conclusion whale poaching could result in the extinction of the whale species. The whale blubber can’t even be eaten and the oil is only used for transmission oil and can easily be substituted out of the oil. Finally killing someone or something is the worst thing you can even do, so now you know what whale poaching really
In Blackfish, one of the most critically acclaimed documentaries of 2013, director Gabriela Cowperthwaite asserts that the inhumane practice of keeping killer whales in captivity is not the right thing to do. They are animals and they like to be open and free. Keeping killer whales in captivity is dangerous to the animals themselves, it makes them more aggressive, and also has the potential to harm and even kill the humans who work with them. Orcas are simply not meant for confinement. They are very calm and happy when they are in the ocean.
To begin with, I am against whale captivity. I will be telling you three thing and then how I feel about them. So I hope you are ready to listen. LET 'S GO!!!!
The Norwegian and Japanese positions and arguments to be permitted with the hunting of non-endangered species of whales as a cultural exemption should not be considered. According to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation, “the whaling industry is in decline and the demand for meat is falling” (WDC, n.d.). Given this statement, I would support the ban of whaling worldwide. In addition, it would be difficult and costly to monitor the whaling activity that is taking place in waters where whales frequent.
This quote shows the dangers of whaling because it is common for men to be injured at sea. Whales are enormous creatures whos instinct is to fight for their lives if they are in danger, leading them to cause destruction on ships and kill the men who hunt them. Once the whale is dead, the task of bringing the whale towards the ship is even harder. The crew works six hour shifts until the body is processed, taking days to finish depending on weather or size of whale. “Trying out a whale could take as long as three days.
It is a common misconception of natural instinct and imaginative onlookers; these whales are not people they are wild marine life. It is no secret that killer whales have a bad reputation, however what earned the reputation was sheer unintentional killings. Orinus Orcas are wild marine life that should not be prosecuted like human beings, and the name “Killer Whales” is the result of false
In the long run, killing these animals will only result in endangerment of the species. I don’t see the wrong with hunting for food and/or hunting for survival. However, hunting to control population or simply for bragging rights, is what I considered
These whales are unpredictable and dangerous because they are aggravated as shown in the film; they need to be kept free in the wild. We can either stop capturing and training whales, or people will continue to be injured and even killed. This is an example of the either/or logical fallacy, and it is proven in the film. The documentary, Blackfish, is jam packed full of arguments
Furthermore, this can be the cause of all the incidence including to what happened to Dawn Brancheau who was completely mutilated by a whale. Despite the interview with a former trainer, from a document which was published after the release of Blackfish by SeaWorld to object
Final Justification -Blackfish- “We can tame and love wild animals so we should capture them, to educate and entertain humans.” The real question is, why would someone believe taking these living breathing animals away from the place God put them like it’s okay, as if it’s normal. I think it’s quite obvious i'm against orcas in captivity. “Can you imagine being in a small concrete enclosure for your life when you’re used to swimming 100 miles a day?”-Blackfish.
Even though you are still conscious and in great agony, you will be cut up into pieces. This is the fate of hundreds of whales every year. Although many countries such as Japan and Norway continue to hunt whales for their byproducts and scientific research, whaling should be outlawed
In many countries, whaling isn’t considered as such an awful deed to be done, since the prospect of it has been resumed and passed on for many, many years in some cultures. However, this isn’t the point at hand. Over the last couple of passing years, the issue has arisen and breached over to animal security’s alarm. Whaling is the action of killing whales.
Answer: The best way to find balance in this case is to find a way to monitor whaling more closely and make sure that it is only done for the purpose of feeding the villages that need the meat for basic survival, where commercial whaling should be monitored and maybe completely banned, specially because whales are a species in danger and it looks like the more endanger they are the most valuable it is, another problem today is that whaling is not only practice by Norway and Japan but also other countries like Iceland practice illegal
They just wanted to protect the whale, not to upset the people. Now the people couldn’t play with the
Introduction Whale hunting in Japan has become an increasingly controversial topic after the International Whaling Commission law was passed because Japan has been killing large number of whales for scientific research. This is because of that some of whales’ species such as blue whales are considered endangered and this might cause an ecological damage to the sea environment. Whales are intelligent animals and their existence participate in the environmental equilibrium therefore killings whales should be prohibited so as the preserve the environment and ensure the sustainability of our planet. In fact, it morally wrong to kill and eat intelligent animal and to keep hunting large number while is about to extinct. Therefore, Japan
I not only agree with the Japanese and Norwegian position that hunting non-endangered species of whales should be allowed for culture purposes, but I also think that hunting non-endangered species of whales should not even be considered illegal. The main reason hunting non-endangered species of whales was banned in the first place was because the dominant culture that made the decision valued the lives of whales and believed they should be protected from whaling. We allow hunting of deer and fishing of shrimp, but not hunting of whales and on the fact that we love whales so much. This whaling ban is a significant violation of the sovereignty of Japan and Norway as well as other cultures that practice whaling. We are essentially saying, “Since we love whales so much you are not allowed to hunt them in your own waters even though they are not even endangered because that is unethical.”
