Why Should Soldiers Be Paid More Than Athletes

If you were a college athlete, would you be satisfied with the NCAA and universities making tons of money while you know you were the reason they make so much in the first place? Do you think the NCAA should pay college players? College athletes should be paid because they bring in so much money to the colleges, universities, and NCAA. They put so much time and work into that sport that they barely focus on school. Most college athletes only go to school to have a better chance of becoming a professional athlete for that sport, especially in basketball and football.

Paying College Athletes There are several reasons why college athletes should receive a form of payment. The athletes always seem to be practicing, which means that they are almost always busy, leaving little time for anything else. Additionally, they have to go to their classes and study in order to participate in that particular sport. In contrast, giving the athletes money could potentially be a bad idea. Some athletes might receive more because their sport may generate more money.

First, I think that college football players should get paid because they need extra money today for college. For the first time in history, the NCAA is allowing colleges to pay their athletes cash to cover the cost of things like student fees, laundry and lunch (Cnn). To open enroll in a college out of state it is $22,958 and getting paid for any kind of sport could really help pay the cost (Prepscholar).

Professional coaches and colleges are making millions of dollars in revenue every year from over enthusiastic fans and stage tickets because of sports league . Some people believe that none of the revenue that universities and colleges make, should be dispersed among the students in any way. That means creating laws against giving anything for free to students. They believe that when you pay student athletes to play the sports that they want to learn. It wouldn't be considered a class anymore, instead it would be consider a job which would defeat the purpose of going to college.

College athletes deserve to be paid because they are the only ones not being paid in the college sports industry. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) generates eleven billion dollars annually, some of which could, and should go to college athletes. “USA Today reported last year just how much money the top 10 coaches in college football made. Nick Saban from Alabama topped the list earning roughly $5.5 million in 2013 alone” (Seibold). The coaches are making millions of dollars and the players aren’t.

College athletes deserve to be paid for their dedication to sports. There has been huge controversy over this and it is considered to be one of the most debatable topics in sports. Inequality in sports has been shown in many ways. This includes women inequity, racial inequality, and coaches being paid more depending on what sport they coach. College athletes should be compensated for their work and be given rights.

Taking a look at the average college student, should they be paid for what they are studying? Probably not. Then why should college athletes be paid? They shouldn 't get paid just because of their athletic ability. They shouldn 't be paid because they are students, not professionals.

The reasons college athletes should be paid is because although they have their scholarship; it typically does not pay for everything. Secondly other people make money off of the college athletes. And lastly college athletes do not have the time to get a decent job, or even a job at all. The NCAA does not allow athletes to be paid which

Therefore should college athletes get paid? Well if they do once they graduate they will live a good life. They have enough money to pay for their house bills or etc. But what if college athletes would actually get paid,but will it be fair if only the good ones get paid and the not so good ones not?

I have heard that pro sports players get paid more than soldiers that go and risk their lives for ours. What I want to know is why is the government paying the pro sports players more than the people that risk there lives for our country? One reason that the government should pay more the soldiers than the pro sports players is that the soldiers go and risk their lives on the ocean,air,and land. While soldiers are doing this pro sports players are playing on the land and in the water. For some reason people that are wearing helmets that are fighting for a ball get more money than a man wearing a helmet fighting for our freedom and rights every day and every week.

The million dollar question; should college athletes be paid? This is an immense debate, but if you were to ask me, I would say yes, college athletes should be paid. There are a plethora of reasons why college athletes should get paid. College athletes should get paid because of the amount of time they put into their sport, the amount of money everyone else is making off of them, and their overall importance to the school. There are a myriad of reasons that people can argue the opposite way, but, the reasons they should get paid definitely outweigh the reasons they shouldn’t get paid.

Are they students or employees? They spend more time with the sport than in school. Student athletes should be acknowledged for their performances. College athletes should be paid to play because they bring money into the school, advertisement, and they perform the same tasks of pros. College kids bring in thousands of dollars every game day.

can all agree with me that they get underpaid compared to athletes. The money that can go towards better causes such as donating to the homeless, donating to charities, helping people, etc goes to people playing a game. It seems morally wrong that athletes would be paid more than people who are firefighters, doctors, and police doing more valuable things than playing a game. In the same breath how much is a touchdown a three pointer or a home run

Athletes are paid more than very important jobs such as surgeons, teachers, and even the president! Athletes don’t even do very important things, they merely entertain fans in an arena. Do they save lives, educate our future, or run our country? No, they don’t. Finally, an athlete's salary is more than an average American household makes in a whole decade.
