Although the wars were very similar the wars did have a difference, world war one was more wester v.s. world war 2 which was more global. In world war 1 the war was fought in europe and most of the countries that were involved in world war 1 were in europe. Most other countries just helped out. In a picture of the rhineland it shows that the war was fought with france, germany, United Kingdom, and Holland.(doc 5) While in world war 2 way more countries not located in europe joined the war. The Harsh Punishments of World War I World War I, also known as the great war started after the Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated, this was the main agitator that started the great war, the assassination was followed by the domino effect. Over 30 nations were involved in World War I and there were two main sides of the war, Great Britain, France, The United States, Russia, and Italy (The Allied Powers) who fought against Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire ( The Central Powers). After the war nations agreed for this to never happen again. The Treaty of Versailles was created but helped cause WWII by treating Germany harshly, reducing their army, and by taking away their territory.

World War I was caused due to the fact that so many countries around the globe got involved in the war when it was very unnecessary for them to do so. Countries who got involved in World War I, could’ve handled the situation differently, meaning in a more peaceful way. For example, the war between

In order to defeat Japan and be named the winner, the U.S. began constructing The Manhattan project; a top-secret government mission to create the atomic bomb. The bomb powerful enough to destroy an entire city was completed with the intention of ending the war as quickly and peacefully as possible. The bomb threat was set to plan B when the U.S. invaded Japan. While U.S. incendiary bombs had burned 67 Japanese cities, Japanese soldiers stayed strong and loyal to their country.

World War II was a global conflict that lasted from 1939 to 1945 and involved many major countries. The war began with the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany. It rapidly spread throughout Europe and progressed to outside countries. The thing that most angered Germany and could even be labeled as the origin of World War II was The Treaty of Versailles at the end of World War I. The treaty imposed heavy reparations on Germany, limited its military capacity, and forced it to give up territory to neighboring countries.

As a result, Germany increased a war to themselves because they could use their neighbor 's war as an opportunity to spread across. Therefore, Germany caused World War 1 because they used the opportunity to increase the war in order to gain more land. In the end, all countries had some participation and thus, were a “cause” of World War 1. Germany transformed the small war into a widespread and massive war.

The Great War was coming to end and with it soldiers were returning home. Returning home with them was a disease known as influenza. The global interconnectedness from this total war not only connected people and violence but also spread the flu. Influenza killed many citizens globally and was difficult to stop, due to a lack of medical knowledge. Africa and India had a similar response to the influenza epidemic as both blamed the unfortunateness on the divine.

As the end of the second decade of the 20th century came to a close, the European world was in shambles. In the years 1914 to 1918, all of the European countries and some other world powers fought in the treacherous battle that was World War I. The two main forces of the European power were the Triple Alliance, formed of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy, and the Triple Entente, formed of Great Britain, France, and Russia. Before this war started, it was thought by most that it would be a quick war and little would occur across the countries in battle. After the four years of World War I, millions were dead, cities were left in ruin, and all anyone could do was look for someone to blame for all the destruction.

Hitler was the main aggressor during 1939 who everyone appeased to, who is infamously known for his rise to power, his persecution of Jews, and his attacks on the world to dominate, that killed so many. Neville Chamberlain, the British Prime Minister, believed in the policy of appeasement and appeased Hitler at the Munich Conference which eventually lead to the start of World War II. The Western Powers responded to aggression with appeasement, and in 1939 the world was plunged into World War II, proving to the world that collective security is a better response to aggression. There were a variety of underlying causes in World War I. They were militarism, alliances, nationalism, and a mix of imperialism. Before the war Nations started to build up their arms (DBQ: What Were the Underlying Causes of World War 1, 2010, Doc 7) making a competition for dominance, and alliances are formed making powerful armies. Nations produced propaganda infuriating the citizens and giving the pride in their nation which led to nationalism. World War II had many outcomes, but not all of them affect the world today. Part of the outcomes that do affect the world today are affecting the world in different ways, for example the cold war, war crimes, division of Germany. One of the most important ones is the creation of UDHR (Universal Declaration of Human Rights), but one can argue that the most important one is is the creation of Israel. Israel is very impactful today as it affects the world politically, economically and socially, and the UDHR is supposed to prevent discrimination, slavery, and inequality. The UDHR was formed on December 1948, (History of the Document) three years after the war ended.

There were many reasons for aggression and atrocity of totalitarian regimes which set the stage for the involvement of America in World War II. The great depression, the stock market crash, the deep sense of betrayals, Japans invasion of China, Nanjing massacre, among many other events all lead up to World War II. All the buildup aggression can only lead to disaster and that is exactly what it lead to. Though many believe that it was the war that got us out of the great depression, it still contained a lot of negative long-lasting effects that might still be seen today.
