(Document C) Germany was not the only country that participated in the war against the Allies and in fact they were one of the last countries to join the war against them. Germany would get almost no say in the amount of money that they had to pay and in what amount of time they had to pay it in, because if they were to disagree or try to say something different then what the Allies wanted them to pay then they
War broke out in 1914 due to forces that had been building up in Europe for years. While the Allies blamed Germany for the war too harshly, its actions certainly did directly contribute to World War I, as did those of Austria Hungary. However, each country involved fostered militarism in their country, and became in entrenched in the web of alliances and race for imperial power, all causes of the environment that led to the Great War. Therefore, it could be said that all European countries were responsible, in part, for World War I, as reflected in Documents 5, 6, and 7.
World War II dramatically changed the United States turning it from an isolationist nation to a superpower, ready to lead the world. However, the war also affected the internal landscape of the country; as tensions increased between the United States and the Soviet Union, so did tensions between democracy and communism. During the 1940s and 1950s, a hysteric fear of communism swept the United States, as many Americans felt that communism was on a path of total take over, threatening the existence of the United States. Fear of the threat of communism filled the United States following World War II due to the planting of the roots of communist fears before the end of the war, the spread of communism throughout the world, and propaganda and internal
The Great War, or the First World War, was a global fight centered in Europe from 1914 to 1918. This disastrous war was established because of one small, yet direct incident in Austria-Hungary. As well as this , there were indirect incidents leading up to this event that heated the tension between the European countries. The ideas of imperialism, militarism, the Alliance system and nationalism, were the beginning causes; the perfect ingredients to stir up the pressure.
Hitler was the main aggressor during 1939 who everyone appeased to, who is infamously known for his rise to power, his persecution of Jews, and his attacks on the world to dominate, that killed so many. Neville Chamberlain, the British Prime Minister, believed in the policy of appeasement and appeased Hitler at the Munich Conference which eventually lead to the start of World War II. The Western Powers responded to aggression with appeasement, and in 1939 the world was plunged into World War II, proving to the world that collective security is a better response to aggression. Hitler’s aggression was the main reason why Allied powers felt the need to appease. In 1930, after the Reichstag fire, Adolf Hitler rose to power because he was appointed
Wilhelm thought that the only way of Germany becoming a world power was if war occurred. However, Germany was unprepared, so they could not force a war with those conditions, and this was why the policy of Militarism was used, to strengthen this belief of becoming a greater nation. The naval race between Germany and Britain is one example of how Germany strengthened it’s military, but also increased the chance of a probable war. Germany defied Britain to see what nation had the best navy. In order to challenge Britain, Germany augmented its battleships from nine to twenty four cruisers between 1898 and 1900.
