2K02 Reflection I’ve spent the past two years volunteering with the Hamilton District school board working in the classroom children. Last year I worked with grade one class and this year I have worked with the grade 6 students. My role each year has been to work with the students need extra help an extra time to complete their work. When I have found is that although these students can’t keep up in the regular classroom with their peers, when given the extra time and support their thought process and ideas bloom in their ideas and the successful side of them shows through. I don’t particularly enjoy classroom work; I certainly do enjoy seeing the look of pride and success on a child’s face when they understand something that they previously didn’t. I also enjoy the opportunity to give these children individual one-on-one attention knowing that for some this might be the most one-on-one attention again all day. I do my best to carry this lesson into my clinical practice where I try not to get caught up in the rush of my day, but rather to slow it down and give each patient the individual care and focus that they require so that they’re not only well …show more content…
I am calm under pressure, difficult personalities do not scare me off; I’m able to look at the person and see that what they are dealing with could be frightening, upsetting, painful and lonely and therefore I do not get upset by their moods or outbursts. I am professional, eager to learn and seek out learning opportunities. I am a leader, but also able to follow directions of others. I have Strong interpersonal skills and treat people with respect. Qualities that I still need to develop as a nurse include time management, planning, succinct communication skills, using the proper nursing terms, and problem solving
They save lives, prevent complications, and suffering, they assess and survey for risks, indentify patient’s goals, plan independent action and research skills. Public health nurses solve problems on a daily basis, and prioritise quality patient care for all. They have good communication skills which enable them to work as a team with the doctors, the sick, the injured along with their families and other healthcare bodies. They have to be empathetic in dealing with people who are scared, worried, in pain, and are able to put themselves in the patient’s shoes and be emotionally stable. Other qualities include being a good record keeping by writing down everything in patient’s charts, adaptable to change, quick thinkers and have good judgement by looking at the patient’s current state and accurately assessing what is or is not

Competency Standard III To support social and emotional development and to provide positive guidance Functional Area 8: Self I provide an emotionally and physically safe and secure environment where the children can thrive and develop their sense of self. I greet each child by name, smiling and giving them one-on-one attention. I show the children that I respect them by acknowledging their feeling and helping them express those feelings appropriately. We follow a routine, and I discuss and explain when there will be a change or disruption to that schedule.
I learned how to differentiate my approach in helping the students at level they were at. I am interested in teaching in a middle school setting because I’ve come to see how important it is to get a student to be invested in their education while they are in middle school. Studies have shown that the education gap widens by the time an African American student reaches middle school. I want to be in a middle school setting to help bridge the education gap, one scholar at a
I learn that it is most important to focus on children when in the classroom. I relax in my work by clean up in this class. Always be available to support children and maintain an overview of what is happening throughout the program. I’m aware that I can’t leave children unsupervised and can be somewhere that have one of the teacher staff can supervise me and the group. I show initiative to assist the teacher and children during activities or transitions.

My objective as a Nurse Educator
W-7 – PROFESSIONAL BOUNDARIES 1. I chose these competences because as a nurse it is vital to maintain professional boundaries and still be able to provide the therapeutic care without personally getting attached to patients. 2. From the article I learned that it is ok to be present with your patient, and caring about what they might be going through as you provide necessary care and support, but not to excessively worrying about a patient in your personal life/home” (p. 407) 3.
The professional nursing values I believe are things you can be taught and some you cannot. Nurses are special individuals who ultimately want to care for and help others as much as they can. I agree with all of these values and believe some I will need to work on myself such as competence, illness prevention and patient education. Others I believe I have based on my experience I have already had while caring for others. Some of the qualities I believe I have include: caring, compassion, dependability, empathy, focusing on the patient- defining quality of life, having a holistic patient centered care, kindness, openness to learning, respect for others their dignity and worth and sensitivity.
Nurses need the ability of fast critical thinking skills and observation of declining signs and symptoms. Nurses also must have the ability to educate
Also having a postive attitude towards every situtation that life gives me. I think I should be 1 of the 10 to make it into Nursing Fundamentals class because I have the personal characterics, which would be having respect, caring, positive attitude towards everyone. I already have the experience from the Teen Volunteer Program, that would be useful for me in Nursing Fundamentals class. My dedication towards academics shows that I want to be in the next level, I drive myself to my best and nothing but the best. I am hoping my dedication will allow me to be in the Nursing Fundamentals
I believe a job as a certified nurse assistant will give me a better insight while working beside nurses and observe what set of skills nurses use. My strengths that best suit my personality and this program are determination, effort, caring, critical thinker, discipline, and enthusiastic. These qualities would reflect on a nurse and would make caring for the patient easier. I believe that I belong in the nursing field, because ever since I was a child, I always wanted to make a positive influence in people's lives.
According to my preceptor last semester I demonstrates a sound understanding of self-care, self-reflection and work life balance. I also have an “understanding of the components of the nurse patient relationship, by maintaining an open and professional relationship with the patients.” I am also “demonstrated self-direction and initiative” (B. Mahy, personal communication, DATE). Rena Hania, my current preceptor indicates that my strengths include “Maturity, professionalism and desire for autonomy. During this unit, I learned about software requirements engineering and software architecture. I learned that requirements engineering is the process of gathering and documenting the needs and constraints of stakeholders and transforming them into a set of specifications that software developers can use to design and implement software. On the other hand, software architecture refers to the high-level structure of a software system and the design decisions that define its components, interactions, and properties. To understand software requirements better, I read Chapter 2 of the textbook, which provided a comprehensive overview of the requirements engineering process, including requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation. I also

A smile alone cannot get the job done, but a positive outlook and a pleasant disposition, combined with fundamentals such as work ethic and discipline, make for a well-rounded employee. Flexibility and enthusiasm are also components of possessing a good attitude. Being a team player, which is another attribute of a successful nurse, is difficult if one is not approachable and if you don’t play well with others. A good employee must have good communication skills. These are essential for a
