September 11th, 2001 changed many lives in the U.S. and around the world in many ways, but what are perhaps the most heart-breaking of stories are the accounts of those whom could not escape. I cannot imagine the emotions that would be running through your mind in a situation such as this. The confusion, horror, anger, sadness, or fear that would possess you. From the accounts of the victims that I have read, one of the overhanging emotions on these people's minds was hope. In a way, though it would be comfort to themselves, that hope may have made it harder on the people they had contacted. Many of the people in the top floors of the towers truly believed that they could get out; that someone would save them. The all-encompassing helplessness
Most of those who lost their lives had worked on the ninth floor. Also, the doors from the shop areas were locked, to keep the women at their sewing machines. That's unsafe for the workers. Some workers managed to escape to the roof.
Eric was observed in the living room of his home with his sitter present. As the observation started, the sitter brought out several toys including a bag of blocks. She opened the bag and dumped the blocks out. She then asked Eric if he wanted to build a tower. He responded by saying, “A choo choo train” and repeated this several times.
Fifteen years after the fateful date of September 11, 2001, this school year marks the first year that almost no American high school freshman was alive for the day forever engrained in America's past. Anyone old enough to remember that clear Tuesday morning can pinpoint what he or she was doing when the press released the astounding news: a plane had crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center. No matter how routine their day may have been, most witnesses can at least recall their feelings, as the American sense of safety would forever be tainted. As the world watched in dismay from their televisions, the state inside the World Trade Center was declared an emergency. Those on floors 78 through 84, where the first plane ripped
Personal Response: I thought this was a good book and it got right to the point. I liked how the author made Lucas 's family a part of the fire department. It gave it an inside look on how the firefighters were affected. I really liked that there were facts about the real September 11th at the very end of the book.
Life changes Where were you on September 11, 2001? Almost every American citizen remembers exactly where they were and what they were doing on that day because it is such a historic moment for the United States. America completely changed after 9/11 nobody’s life was the same, everyone from the President of the United States to the mailman felt the effects of 9/11, and that included my Grandfather. My grandfather is named Vernon Cotten and he is a judge in a small town in Mississippi called Carthage that has a population of 5,000. He remembers the tragedy vividly.
Every American knows of the horrifying terror attacks that took place on September 11th, 2001, in New York and Washington, DC. The terrorist organization al Qaeda hijacked four airlines and flew two of them into the World Trade Center in New York, and one of them into the Pentagon in Washington. The fourth plane was stopped mid flight by its brave passengers and did not reach its intended target. Innocent civilians were now the casualties of war waged by an extremist muslim terrorist group based out of Afghanistan. The United States had never witnessed any terrorist attack of this size on its own soil previous to 2001.
In the North tower eleven people were trapped in a conference room. Smoke began to fill the room. the people called their loved ones like they would never get out. They were sure they were gonna die in that
We all witnessed what happened on that day. Most of us 8th graders stood in disbelief. No one around me could speak but watch the mass tribulation unravel. Our country was under attack and for most of us life was about to change. My family soon changed after 9/11 and faced an uproar reality.
9/11 was the most tragic attack to ever happen in America. The attack affected survivors all across America, it impacted the United States in financial ways, made a huge difference on how we are governed today and created more problems that we faced after the bombing. “Nearly 3,000 people were killed during the 9/11 bombing, and almost 1,200 were
In conclusion the 9/11 tragedy led to people being afraid for what was coming for the U.S and for their own children’s lives as well. These events had scared people for life practically because it had happened in front of them, seen family members die in front of them and just having to deal with for the rest of their lives; it is sad. There are more problems that are ready to be happening like the new president of America, Trump that’s going to be the talk of the hysteria that were going to have to face in the near
Nearly the whole country watched in horror on the morning of September 11, 2001. As the planes crashed and the towers burned, many thought it simply wasn’t true. They believed that it was impossible that someone could hate America that much. It was true, and it left lasting effects on Americans everywhere. Al-Qaeda had carried out a plan so horrific that it killed nearly three thousand people.
Others argue that 9/11 had more tragedy than humanity, but they are very mistaken. 9/11 had struck much tragedy, but still others kept people safe and gave them everything they needed. “They spent the next three days in that town, where the mayor and most of the residents cooked elaborate meals, let them use their showers, even borrow their cars. ”(Gander) These people gave the damaged victims hope and safety along with the sense of family.
They didn 't have capacity to destroy the us military, so they focused on the WTC instead. The twin towers symbolized globalization,America’s economic power, and prosperity. The twin towers were amazing structures. Both of the twin towers were 110 stories each!
I. Introduction A. Attention Getter: Tuesday September 11th 2001 started off like any other day. Men and women prepared themselves for another work day and school children settled in their seats for a day’s lesson. But before the mornings of people’s everyday life could begin, a tragic incident occurred, killing thousands of American citizens and breaking the hearts of many more. B. Thesis: The World Trade Center crashes were significant in many different ways to the U.S. and when they were destroyed, American citizens were stunned and heartbroken. C. Main Points: 1.
It is almost sixteen years since that fear was imposed on us and the age of terror began in earnest. From the moment the Twin Towers fell, 9/11 was seen as a watershed, a historical turning point of grand and irreversible proportions. With the acrid smoke still swirling above ground zero, the mantras repeated constantly were that 9/11 had ?changed everything that nothing would ever be the same.? By now we see those mantras for what they were: natural, perhaps inevitable, exaggerations in the face of
