9/11 was one of the most pivotal events in world history; this tragic event continues to be remembered as thousands of Americans lost their lives that morning. On September 11, 2001 the United States came under attack by nineteen al-Qaeda terrorists. They directed their hatred towards two of our most symbolic trademarks; the twin towers in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington. The 9/11 attacks occurred on September 11, 2001, when four planes were hijacked by members of the terrorist group Al-Qaeda. Two of the planes were crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City. The planes caused extensive damage to the World Trade Center, and both of the main towers eventually fell. Another of the planes was crashed into the Pentagon, which caused fire and structural damage to the building. The fourth and final plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania after the passengers tried to take over the plane.

The passengers of United Flight 93 fought to prevent another attack on their country. A second instance in which the passengers of United Flight 93 demonstrated selflessness was in stopping the terrorist from reaching the original destination planned to crash the hijacked plane. The target of the hijackers is still unknown. It is believed that the most likely target was the U.S. Capitol Building. This is the most likely target on account of the aircraft crashing only about twenty minutes flying time from Washington, D.C. (“The Flight 93 Story”).

9/11 When 9/11 happened, I was almost two years old. Because I was so little, I don’t remember it at all. Almost every year, my teachers taught about 9/11, but they never really went into much detail. My knowledge prior to this assignment was that four planes were hijacked by terrorists, and three of the planes crashed into their destination.

September 11th was a very horrific day filled with sadness and grief. Terrorism then became a main priority to keep an eye on and making sure the United States stays safe. September 11th has changed the landscape of America by improving National Security, conducting better immigration laws, and the rebuilding of the community after the whole massacre.

On September 11, 2001, terrorist hijacked four airliners and attacked the United States. The attackers were from Saudi Arabia and several other Arab nations. Two of the planes flew into the World Trade Center’s skyscrapers in New York City, a third hit the Pentagon near Washington D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. A year before 9/11, a number of terrorist came to the United States to receive training by our people. The attacks resulted in the loss of thousands of people, firefighters, and police officers.

Nobody knew, it was a rude awakening. If the terrorist did not blend in officers would be able to arrest them as fast as possible, but before officers do anything they must take as many safety measures as needed. It was all 10,000 gallons of jet fuel ready to destroy America forever. The time is taking its precious little... It is 9:00 AM, American airline #11 crashed in between the 93rd-99th floor of the North Tower.

The iconic World Trade Center was located in downtown Manhattan. 110 stories high looking over the city. “More than 10,000 workers were involved in building the World Trade Center complex.” (World Trade Center) It was a dream come true for American citizens, 200,000 people visited these iconic towers daily.

The terrorist attacks on 9/11 have caused many debates over the years since they occurred back in 2001. Two American planes were hijacked and ran into the twin tower buildings, another was hijacked and headed for the pentagon, but thankfully never made it. Thousands of Americans lost their lives on the days of the attacks and to this day the sorrow hangs with us. Security was a huge debate of the time because America is supposed to be the safest nation there is, so how did this happen? America had lots of changes to make the attacks on September 11, 2001.

Terrorist campaigns were climbing in decades prior to 9/11. A group of terrorists attacked New York’s World Trade Center on February 26, 1993. The aim of this attack was to drive two bomb loaded trucks into the basement of a building to bring down both of the towers of the World Trade Center. The mission was not accomplished, but the attack did kill six people. The organizer of this attack was Ramzi Yousef, whose uncle went on to be the operational commander of the attack at the World Trade Center on 9/11.
