On September 11, 2001, 343 FDNY firefighters and innocent people tragically died inside the Twin Towers. This horrific event will never be forgotten, and it marks hope, resilience, and unity as a nation. Through the examination of 9/11 and the influence that it had on the United States, especially with the deaths of FDNY responders, related illnesses, and the rebuilding of the One World Trade Center, it becomes abundantly clear why 9/11 should be remembered. On September 11, 2001, the United States was attacked by foreign al-Qaeda terrorists who hijacked four commercial airline planes.

September 11th was a tragic day for the American people as we witnessed the economic and military symbols of our great country go up in flames. Hijackers overcame authorities on four different planes and used them to inflict insufferable damage amongst our people. Two planes crashed into the North and South towers of what was known as the World Trade Center that ultimately caused its collapse. The 9/11 tragedy was a moment where people had their guard up at all times. This was a time where life had strike to reality of time warfare with every person and country. The first plane hit at 8:46 a.m. and the second at 9:03 a.m., leaving 2,819 people dead. September 11, 2001 will always be remembered as a day of great destruction, a day of great loss. September 11, 2001 was the day two planes flew into the World Trade Center, forever changing the way of life for all of America.
