Question 1 Give a basic overview of the study. What did they hope to learn by conducting this study? What was the result? Be detailed in your description of the goals of the study how it was conducted in the outcome. The study researched the difference between moderate to vigorous physical activity and sedentary behavior by using an ActiGraph accelerometer on two groups of adults who were 60 years and older and gave written permission to complete the study. The two study groups were recruited from New York City community centers throughout Brooklyn, and consisted of white, black and Hispanic ethnicities. What this study was hoping to learn by using the ActiGraph accelerometer, is to determine physical activity and sedentary behaviors …show more content…

Interestingly, Hispanics showed more physical activity than did whites, and men were more physically than women in these age groups (.Evenson, p. 501-502, 2014). Question 2 How does this expand professional knowledge? How could this research improve the ability of recreational therapists &/or gerontologist’s provide …show more content…

The article provided no detail on how the studies were done, it only included the conclusions. C) The article does not say how many subjects were in the studies that universities conducted. It is unsure whether the studies from the universities can be valid. I would assume the populations that were used in the studies were college students.
In the article Increasing Walking in College Students Using a Pedometer Intervention: Differences According to Body Mass Index by Erica M. Jackson , PhD; Amy Howton, MFA conducted a study to see if college student where to wear a pedometer for 12 weeks they will increase their physical activity depending where they were in Body Mass Index. The study takes place at public Southeastern University where 326 students enrolled in a health and fitness course and where willing to wear a pedometer five days a week for twelve weeks. The students involved raged in all different ages and ethnic and different body mass index. Some were underweight, normal weight and overweight.
In comparison to Americans of the late 1960s and early 2010s, 33% were obese in the early 2010s when compared to the late 1960s 14% were obese. (Ogden) With these statistics the evidence is clear that there has been something done different in these two eras. Since there was a small amount of jobs that consisted inactivity in the late 1960s, it can be concluded that with the rise of technologies that would reduce physical work & simplify the work to an elemental state in the early 2010s the American society slowly became less inactive physically

Senior Care Services: Benefits of Group Exercise Exercise is important for people of all ages. It takes on even extra importance as we age. Not only do seniors tend to lose muscle mass, but they also suffer from a number of ailments that require the benefits of exercise such as osteoporosis, arthritis, and an increased risk of coronary heart disease, diabetes, and depression. Many times seniors start an exercise program with the best of intention, but they soon quit.
Despite most respondents having access to local university recreational facilities, only one respondent reported that as the main location of their regular physical activity. The most popular choices were fitness centre and home, with ten and nine responses respectively. When participants were asked to rate the amount of weekly physical activity, 19 (66%) indicated that their amount of activity is an average amount, while seven (24%) responded with below average and three (10%) indicated above average participation. In contrast to that, 18 (62%) total respondents answered that they greatly enjoy, or enjoy physical activity, while only five (17%) indicated that they mildly dislike, or dislike physical activity
Part One Answer the following questions: 1. Briefly explain what research was conducted for this article. Explain what examples are provided. Are the examples and research sufficient?
While Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines recommend adults (age 18 or older) to participate in 150 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity per week; many individuals are engaged in sedentary lifestyle 9,12,13. Through Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS), results indicate that Canadian adults spent on average a total of 4 hours and 11 minutes per day being physically active with more than 9 hours engaging in sedentary lifestyle 13. It found that total daily sedentary time was higher in older age groups (adults aged 40 to 79) 13. Conversely, adults aged 18 to 39 were found to be the most active with an average of 34 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity daily 13. Females were also observed to be less physical active than men in all age groups 13,14.
Kate S. Seriña English 27- Z Engaging in Physical Activities can Improve Cognitive Performance Background on Physical activity Physical activity is known to be the movement of the body that practically uses energy, like walking, running, jogging, hopping, gardening or any form of exerting effort and energy. Physical fitness can be an important role in our lives since it keeps us healthy and avoids us from getting sick. According to Quentin (2012), students are mentally healthy because they’re physically active. Engaging to physical activity like engaging in different sports can be an outlet to anything you have been going through, it’s either stress on work, school or at home.
Following Rosch’s indications (1975), a rate of 1 will indicate that the activity would be a very good example of people’s idea of sport, while a rate of 7 will indicate that the activity would fit very poorly with their idea of sport. The questionnaire will be translated into different languages (Italian, Lithuanian, English, French, Deutsch, Spanish). Data will offer an overview of what activity is more typically considered “sport” and what is not and this results will be employed in the Pilot Study
Physical According to Mahar 2006, the habitual physical activity is vital for enhancing overall health. Lifestyle behaviors adopted in childhood tend to track into adulthood, and more active children tend to be more active as adults than their sedentary peers, thus aiding in the prevention of diseases such as hypertension, obesity, cardiovascular and other health problems. Unfortunately, physical activity among children and adolescents has declined, and increasing numbers of children are spending more time in sedentary activities. A review of the literature reveals that few studies have been conducted to evaluate the physical activity levels of elementary school children during a typical school day.
Observation of People Doing Exercises I started attending the In-Shape gym a short time ago and since my topic is based largely on this area of health sport, I decided to make my observation at this gym, trying to observe as much details as possible, how people treat the sport for themselves and whether or not they like exercising. In addition to attending this academy, I also visited my school 's basketball gym, Northgate High School, to see how athletes treat basketball for their lives, and in doing so I decided to compare how a person treats the sport as a leisure and how a person treats the sport as a method of losing weight or staying healthy. At the In-Shape academy, I was able to observe people of many different ages, especially seniors and overweight adults. Some of these people say that it is very difficult to lose weight because it is very annoying to walk on the treadmill or doing boring exercises in the gym but they do the same because they think
I love playing sports very much but nowadays, I found out that more and more people have less interest in doing sports because of the busy life. This leads to various diseases which causes people to suffer from death. Doing sports can help to increase blood circulation in human body and thus maintaning a healthy body. I choose to write this topic to encourage people to do sports even though their life is busy because healthy is wealthy. Nothing is more important than a healthy body.
