In An Animal’s Place, Michael Pollan describes the growing acknowledgement of animal rights, particularly America’s decision between vegetarianism and meat-eating. However, this growing sense of sentiment towards animals is coupled with a growing sense of brutality in farms and science labs. According to Pollan, the lacking respect for specific species of animals lies in the fact that they are absent from human’s everyday lives; enabling them to avoid acknowledgment of what they are doing when partaking in brutality towards animals. In the novel,” The Pigman” by Paul Zindel, two teenagers named John and Lorraine befriend the Pigman. Near the end, the Pigman suddenly passes away. Even though numerous things contributed to Mr. Pignati’s death, the stress of John & Lorraine’s party and Bobo the monkey’s death played the biggest part. John and Lorraine threw a party while Mr. Pignati was at the hospital, but near the end, Mr. Pignati unexpectedly arrived back home.

In his investigative, nonfiction book, Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer implies that even though most adolescents who participate in high-risk activities end up with serious consequences, occasionally, those activities are rewarding. This is explained throughout Krakauer’s book, showing Christopher McCandless’ journey across North America; John Waterman’s ascent of Mount Denali, and his mental unwinding; Gene Rosellini’s attempt to survive off the land; Carl McCunn’s adventure in the wilderness, Everett Ruess’s journey at the Davis Gulch; and also by describing Krakauer’s own adventure in Alaska (Krakauer). Into the Wild Essay Into the Wild is written by Jon Krakauer and is a biography. This book is the story of a man named Chris McCandless who graduated from college with a three point seven grade average and gave all his savings to charity .He then attempts to live off of the wilderness and is picked up by many kind people who agree to take him wherever he wants to go. All of these people offer him food ,shelter,or supplies but he refuses to take them stating that he wants to live off the wilderness. He very often is described to be a very independent person due to the actions that he takes in the book.

This short story explains and questions how people find eating animals morally acceptable. Steiner 's short story explains that whenever people think these animals are being treated respectfully they are being ignorant to the fact of how these animals are truly treated; Steiner brings up the fact of how an animals typical horrid life is and how it transitions from its horrid life to being killed by a butcher in a matter of seconds. Moreover, Steiner also adheres to the topic of how unacceptable, it is to kill these animals just for human consumption. Steiner 's purpose in writing this short story is to display to us the fact that eating any animal is not only wrong, but it is just downright unacceptable as it is mass murder of these innocent animals. From younger age, we have been taught to behave in a certain way in order to fit in. When we grow up, our lives get automatically filled with growing amounts of responsibilities and expectations that we need to fulfill. It is a tough world to live in; its pressure and rules can lead so many people to run away from it seeking a peace of their mind. But where should we run to? The wilderness, as being the only alternative to the human world, seems to be an ideal place to take a vacation from all of the distractions of modernity, where all human problems seem to fade and become meaningless.

The Idea of Home Have you ever thought of going off the grid and living out in the wild? Well in Jon Krakauer’s Into the wild, we learn about Chris McCandless, who did exactly that. Chris embarks on a journey into the wild leaving his privileged life behind to discover a sense of purpose and meaning in his life. Jon Krakauer narrates his story and we also hear about some other similar stories.

In addition, compared to Bobby and the Indigenous peoples living in reserves, Michelle’s social status is higher, and therefore, she can “afford the idealism… [as] being a vegetarian can be expensive especially up north and other remote places” (115). Pragmatically thinking of the reality of most Indigenous peoples, Bobby perceives the factualness of vegetarianism as “another example of middle-class Canada saying their lifestyle is better than everybody else” (115). Although he criticizes vegetarians with a “superiority complex” (116) like Michelle, he doesn’t disapprove of vegetarian devout groups as it’s simply a “part of their religion” (116).

These eaters ignore the politics concerning food rather looking for esthetics and quick service. Due to these disregarding’s, the industrial eaters won’t ever realize that eating responsibly is a way “to live free” (2). Berry then lists off seven points regarding how to eat more responsibly for the passive consumers. These points range from “[participating] in food production to the extent that you can” to “[learning] as much as you can, by direct observation and experience if possible, of the life histories of the food species” (Berry 4-5). Berry also believes that it’s important for the animals that meat comes from to have lived a pleasant life.

In Jon Krakauer's "Into the Wild," the quote "The trip would be an odyssey in the fullest sense of the word, an epic journey that would change everything" refers to the protagonist Christopher McCandless' journey into the Alaskan wilderness. The quote is significant because it highlights the transformative nature of McCandless' journey and the impact it had on his life. The word "odyssey" has several meanings, most notably as a reference to Homer's epic poem, "The Odyssey," which chronicles the adventures of the hero Odysseus as he travels home from the Trojan War. Similarly, McCandless' journey into the Alaskan wilderness is an epic adventure, full of danger and discovery, as he tests his limits and explores the natural world.

In today’s world, there is a division among the people in the world regarding whether or not it is ethical to eat meat. After researching about eating meat and vegetarianism, I have come to the conclusion that it is indeed ethical to eat meat in today’s society. Sure, eating meat might have its drawbacks, but I have found that the benefits of eating meat far outweigh the negatives of eating it. Eating meat not only helps improve people’s health, but it also helps strengthen our economy and it has little difference in the environmental impact that involves in the farming of vegetables. Eating too much of anything usually results in a negative outcome.

“I asked myself a question: "Knowing what I know, why am I not a vegetarian?"’ Graham Hill, an inspiring speaker, introduced a new way to eat. During his speech on TED Talk, he explains to his audience how eating meat has affected the world. In a calm and humorous tone, Hill proposes his purpose. He explains to his audience by becoming a “weekday veg” you will live a better live, it’s great compromise that will help people, animals, and the environment.

What is Veganism? A way of life that adopts a Vegan diet and believes harming animals for meat or products is wrong. Yet, people say vegans are the inhumane and unreasonable ones. Think about where the animals come from. They are not grazing around in a green field.

Herbivores do not only take the form of animals, but humans as well. Veganism, “a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose.” (The Vegan Society). When people think about a vegan lifestyle, the first question, assumption or judgment is based off their diet. The food choices of a vegan have risen, deep concern, and question regarding whether or not this lifestyle is healthy or not.

Geography and Exploration have affected the world and our society in many different ways. I believe Geography and Exploration both have contributed to the fact that Europeans are today seen as part of the most developed countries. This is because of the geographical luck Europeans had since the beginning, according to the Guns Germs and Steel theory, the explorations and the columbian exchange giving Europeas the possibility to ameliorate their technology and establish trade, and the fact that Europeans exploited other tribes, becoming rich on the local’s costs. A Theory called Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond says that Geographical luck is the reasons why Europeans are more developed today.
