on December 16, 1773, Samuel Adams organized a group of men called the Sons of Liberty. They dressed up as Mohawk Indians. They boarded three ships in the Boston Harbor and threw 342 chests of tea overboard. It took nearly three hours to accomplish this. The British Parliament passed the Tea Act on April 27, 1773 which was a import tax and it raised the price of tea to three cents per pound on all tea sent to America.

In 1773, on a December night in Boston there were three ships sitting in the Boston Harbor. The Dartmouth, the Eleanor, and the Beaver were the ships names. All three of those ships were carrying tea. The tea wasn’t unloaded because residents were angry because they were threatened not to buy the tea or use it. People of Boston were angry at the government of Boston that passed the “ Tea Act” since the Tea Act passed the law said the colonists had to get there tea from the East India Company.

The colonists were still not represented in the British government and didn’t have a say on how the taxes could be done. The colonists wanted the tea returned to England, but it wasn’t and they decided to protest the unfair tax. The Boston Tea Party Was it a big, fun party with tea?

The colonists decided not to take any of the taxed tea. When the tea arrived, it was returned to England or put in warehouses. In Boston, the tea company was determined to unload its cargo. The colonists had to act fast. One night, a group of colonists dressed up as Native Americans.

As had occurred before in reaction to enforcement of unpopular acts, a mob formed to prevent the ship’s seizure. Boycotts of British goods were put back into place much as they had been to oppose the Stamp Act (Ernst, 2012). An escalation that was new was the request by customs officials for British troops to occupy Boston, and the dissolution of the legislature in Boston by the Governor for their refusal to rescind their previously approved circular letter (Middlekauff, 2005

This had a big effect on Britain’s tea company which lead to the Tea Act of 1773. Parliament realized what had happened so they decided to help the Americans obey the law, instead of fighting it, by lowering the tax amount which caused their tea price to be cheaper than that of the Dutch. (147) But many Americans saw this as a trick, “The real goal,…was the increased revenue that would pay the salaries of royal governors and judges…reassertion of Britain’s right to tax the colonists. ”(147)

Political parties definitely started much controversy in the states. In the late 1700's to the early 1800's the political parties started to evolve, Jefferson and Hamilton had different views on the constitution and how we should structure our government, this "battle" started to divide our nation by their beliefs, and opinions on the government. Even citizens started to get involved. This dates back to the turn of the 19th century and is still causing disruption in the government today.

I believe that political parties were developed in the United States because they allow people to make decisions based on their beliefs. Both Hamilton and Jefferson were very great men but they wanted something different with the government. There are many reasons why political parties developed in our country. Hamilton and Jefferson have many differences between themselves.

However, in 1773, the East India Company noticed that there was an overproduction of tea and its prices surely would decline (“The Third Imperial Crisis”). Tea was one of the, if not the, most valuable asset to many members in Parliament. Britain was forced to impose a new Tea tax on the colonists, which was aimed to keep the price of tea high. Even this act was reasonable in the eyes of the British, but to the colonists, this was just a British way of assuring dominance considering it was now for profit rather than to pay off debts. The response to the Tea Acts was the Boston Tea Party of 1773 (“The Third Imperial Crisis”).

51 It’s a cold December day in 1773 as the Sons of Liberty prepare make history. The Sons of Liberty march up the docks of Boston to make the ultimate act of defiance against the newly established laws and taxes implemented by the tyrannous British. The British sought to tighten their tyrannical control on the colonies with unfair laws and taxes, however the Sons of Liberty weren't so willing to be forced to follow these limitations. In revenge, they dumped 92,000 pounds of British tea into the ocean.

The boston tea party occurred when colonist as a way of rebelion attack british by throwing the tea that they found in their ships. And some people wonder why they did that and historic events show that there were French Indian War before that make the colonists to have an economic crisis so they can pay for the products. And the unique product that haven’t tax was the tea.
