Megan Pham 5/20/2023 English 1A Mr Austin Period 5 Final Project Rationale To represent the most relevant scenes in Animal Farm, I chose to do a thematic artistic representation of the scenes Battle of the Cowshed and the overtake of Napoleon. The main idea behind the Battle of the Cowshed was the animals in Animal Farm were protesting against Mr. Jones and the humans that wanted to control them. This battle was the first battle between the humans and the farm animals since the rebellion, the animals successfully won the war against the humans because they underestimated the power of the farm animals. To be able to gain the upper hand and respect from the humans they fought against them in a messy war. The battle of the cowshed was an important …show more content…
Jones who wanted to retake the farm. After Old Major dies and the animals rebel, the pigs take over and become the leaders. Napoleon taking over the farm was also a very significant part of the book because it showed the cycle of dictatorship the animal farm was put through. In the beginning of the book we know the farm was being controlled by Mr. Jones, well later in the book after the rebellion the animal farm falls right into the same dictatorship they were in before with the pigs having the upper hand. Napoleon used his power to control the animals and convince them that the pigs were more worthy of supplies than the other animals. He used Jessie’s children as his guard dogs, using them as his power over the other animals. For example he used Jessie’s puppies to kick Snowball out of Animal Farm because he didn’t believe in Snowball's opinions. He didn’t want the animals to think that there was someone smarter than him, so he stole Snowball’s idea and exiled him, convincing the other animals that Snowball betrayed them. The way Napoleon is able to put the worst ideas about a person into everyone’s opinion is a very powerful …show more content…
In this model a used animal figurines and human figurines to represent the animals and the farmers that attacked. The humans in the model are surrounding the animals with weapons while the animals are supposedly defending themselves against the human’s army. I created the Old Major’s skull that the animals turned into a burial/shrine. The skull represents a sign of respect that the animals remembered their roots and the roots of the rebellion. I created the barn in Animal Farm and wrote the animal’s commandments that Snowball created on the wall of the barn. The commandments were meant to ensure that all the animals were equal and were all true to their own nature. I created the windmill in my model making it look rugged and rustic, this was to show that the animals made the windmill and the imperfect parts are evident to it. The great windmill symbolizes the pig’s manipulation of the other animals for their own gain. In the battle the humans destroy the animal’s windmill, this was because they didn’t want the animals to succeed in rebuilding the farm. The reason for this was the humans would lose their worth and power if the animals proved they were better than the humans at taking care of the farm. I created the hill and the house the humans came from to show the big picture of the humans barging in to take back their farm. I added a lot of human gadgets being destroyed and used by the
Overtime Napoleon changes these commandments, for example he changed it to “four legs good, two legs better!”(Doc. A excerpt 3, Animal Farm Chapter 10), instead of “four legs good, two legs bad”. He also renamed the farm, Manor Farm; the original name. In the beginning all of the animals wanted to be free from the humans, but the the pigs slowly started morphing to human ways. Eventually they changed the seventh commandment to “ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL BUT SOME ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS”(Doc
Animals on the animal farm were shoke at Napoleon's betrayal. Clover was in pain and she knew she was dying from her state of health conditions. Clover was fighting just make it through the day. Clover was walking by one of the stables when she came across a old pig.
Demonstrating that the animals would not have had the motivation or strength to do their work and overdo themselves from Napoleon’s harsh regimes of building the windmill with limited food and long work hours. With his death, Animal Farm’s spirit declined rapidly and caused “uproarious singing, which was followed by what sounded like a violent quarrel and ended at about eleven o’clock with a tremendous crash of glass.” (pg. 84). The writer has done this to demonstrate that Boxer is single-handedly the only animal capable of making all the animals’ arduous labour possible. Boxer’s dedication and determination in his work ethic made his death a catastrophe, causing distress within Animal Farm as these were the driving forces behind the motivation of all the
The windmill had then been fixed however is not being used to gain energy for all the animals, Its now being used to mill corn to make money for the pigs. 12. What is the new commandment and how has it been true from the beginning? “All Animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others" Since the beginning this commandment has been true to all of them.
This, he said, contained the essential principle of Animalism.”. Throughout the book the commandments are changed to fit the pigs lifestyle. Animalism was supposed to be used to keep one animal from having more, or less power than the others. One of the commandments states that “5. No animal shall drink alcohol.”.
The Battle of Cowshed starts when the humans led an attack on the animals to take back authority of the farm. The animals defeat him once again and take Mr. Jones’s deserted gun as a trophy for their victory. The battle is parallelism for the British Invasion of Russia. The British tried to eliminate
A Manipulative power crazy dictator that has no idea how to run a farm… Napoleon From the Animal farm. After old major the head of the animals tells them they need to rebel against the humans they rebel and and napoleon take charge going power hungry and making life unfair for the animals. Napoleon in the book is very power hungry in the book the animal farm much like in the russian revolution in 1945 that the book is modeled by.
Since the animals were like blindfolded, no one made the connection between Boxer's being taken away and the pigs suddenly having more money. The contrast between what the animals believe, what the narrator actually is talking about, and what the reader knows to be the truth, fills one with an anger. (“Animal Farm: Animals Irony”) Animal Farm satirises the breakdown of political ideology and the misuse of power. The major players are animals but their failings are all recognisably human. They begin with an idealistic attempt to form a new society, liberated from the tyranny of humans and founded on the principle of equality and freedom for everyone, but it all goes wrong as the pigs take over.
Napoleon’s initial desire to rule the Farm grows into a monstrous greed for power which is what brings destruction to the corrupted society of Animal Farm. His foolish pursuit to obtain more increasingly becomes destructive just as the capacity does to increase. The greed has taken over him and tempts him to lie in order to obtain everything he desires. He drives Snowball out of power to keep the power all to himself, separates himself from the commoners to officialise his high status within the Animal Farm, kills Boxer to acquire money for whiskey, and adapts human idiosyncrasies in order to prove that Napoleon and the pigs are more superior and can control the commoners to obtain anything that they
In the book Animal Farm, there are two main “enemies” to the common animals. These two enemies, are Farmer Jones and the pig known as Napoleon. Each of these entities have their own pros and cons, and each one rules over the animals in their own way. Some may argue that Farmer Jones was a better owner, and Napoleon was bad, or vice versa. As stated before, each had their own unique way of ruling the animals and different popularity among the animals.
Trying to gain freedom on the farm, the animals obtain a leader, Napoleon, who is much more harsh and stern than the former farm owner, Mr. Jones, has ever been. Symbolizing a ruler from the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin, Napoleon brings the farm into a hole, they have a hard time getting out of. Napoleon kills various animals, and has also broken the Seven commandments the animals promise to abide by. In the beginning, the farm was run by Mr. Jones, who is later overpowered by the animals on the farm. To gain power, Napoleon starts to earn their trust by making it seem as if he is a trustworthy comrade.
Animal Farm illustrates how leaders become corrupt when they abuse their power, treat the population differently based on their status, and the leaders manipulate and oppress the working class. Over the course of the book, Napoleon and the pigs abused their power. After an announcement about trading with the humans for supplies, Squealer
But, it turns into a disaster and Napoleon, one of the pigs, takes over the farm by manipulating the animals and gets guard dogs. The authors obvious irony and symbolism helps support the theme that history repeats itself because no matter what, the bad and good are constantly on war, and only repeat rather than make progress. Napoleon and Mr. Jones are paralleled two characters that help represent that history repeats itself. Mr Jones was overthrown by Napoleon, but Napoleon later acted exactly like Mr. Jones. “The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and man to pig, and from pig to man again, but already it was impossible to say which was which.”
Napoleon also uses manipulation to gain and maintain a firm control by changing the Commandments for the farm in ways that work to his benefit. Squealer, Napoleon’s propaganda department, Keeps the farm animals believing in Napoleon by describing what they hear and see to make it seem harmless. Using effective tactics of fear, convincing propaganda, and manipulation, Napoleon gains and maintains control of Animal Farm. “Animal Farm” has corruption and equality in a way the animals try to succeed and achieve a goal to make the farm better. Power corrupts in “Animal Farm” because the pigs have a goal which is working together and helping one another.
He appeared to be opposed to humans in power. At the end of the story, he became one of the humans. Napoleon is an antagonist because his views are conflicting with the rest of the animals, except for the pigs. His views are opposing the other animals ' views about humans in
