Briana Kuykendall spoke at the symposium on Friday on the book, The Transforming Vision. She gave a detailed summary of what exactly the book was about and went into depth about some of the major key points talked about in the book. The first thing she did was define what a worldview is and what it is not. Worldviews are not systems of thought like theologies or philosophies; instead, they are perceptual frameworks and directors of life. They are people’s way of seeing or understanding life itself. She then went on to talk about the four basic worldview questions: Who are we? Where are we? What went wrong? What is the remedy? Furthermore, she talked about how someone with a correct Biblical worldview would answer the questions. Briana said …show more content…
As Christians, we are to be unified with creation and we have been given a major responsibility of dominion over creation. All creation is covenantally bound to God. As humans, we are God’s creatures living in His kingdom, made in His image, and are called to be good stewards of His kingdom. This sums up the first two worldview questions. The third worldview question is summed up by human disobedience. We are given the choice to either serve God or serve idols. In Briana’s words, “Man is free to choose who to serve, but is not free from the consequences of that choice. We read this in various verses throughout the Bible. When we choose to worship idols instead of worshiping God, we not only take away the authority of God, but we also image God incorrectly. The final worldview question is answered with redemption and restoration. God does not leave us without hope, but He gives us Jesus. Our ultimate redemption comes in two parts. The first part is called D-Day, which is when Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and rose again for the sins of mankind. The second part is called Victory day, which is when Jesus will come back for His church, then creation will be renewed and

Francis Schaeffer and James W. Sire present a views of the universe that reflects judeo-scripture in their works. They describe the ideas that God created the universe to be good, and that God continues to oversee and Shepard all that lies within it. God did not simply form the earth with aimless intentions. He had an eternal detailed plan for all He created and would create, and all that He made had a good and holy purpose. In Genesis in Space and Time, Schaeffer conveys it as, “A doxology of all creation-everything glorifying God on its own level” (56).
In the Christian religion, like many others, the belief in a single, ultimate, powerful being is upheld and practiced. However, unlike other monotheistic religions, the Christian belief in God is expressed in three parts: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This aspect of Christianity is unique and is part of what defines it. Although some people may think so, God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are not three separate beings. They are united as one in the Trinity, the same all-powerful God.
“Where did the universe come from? Why are we here?” What is to become of us? Such questions have traditionally been answered by appeal to the supernatural. From time immemorial, the workings of the natural world have been attributed to supernatural beings (Gods),” (Schick 2013, 432).
Kings and Gods Babylonian and Assyrian laws serve as the establishment of what we know as law today. Their primitive faculties of equity set up frameworks of force in which people were taken a gander at as divine beings and seen as powerful vessels to the soul world. Mesopotamia got to be one of the pioneers in religion being absorbed in legislative issues. Despite the fact that, the ruler was seen as a divine being himself, individuals saw the lord as the nearest being to their lords of love. In the wake of being given so much power and obligation, the dependability of the lord comes into inquiry.
Worldview Worldview is how we view the world, things and beliefs around us through seeing, hearing. It helps us to answers questions about the makeup of the world and not to make assumptions or have the wrong interpretation to the explanations we are seeking. And finally worldview shows plays active part in our daily lives whether we believe it or not through resources such as television, education, magazines, science, government and other supporting materials. The Question of Origin – From a Christian worldview life begin by an all-powerful and magnificent being God (Genesis 1:1). God then brought for the creation of the heavens and earth along with the light, darkness, evening and morning to be dressed upon the earth.
Isaiah 40: 30-31 states, “Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint (English Standard Version). This verse is a large source of hope. It shows how God is powerful and can do anything. When Gods renews a persons strength, they will be brought back in fulfillment. Another verse is Psalm 30:5 and states, “For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime.
We were put on this earth for a reason. That reason is not to break away from God. We may go our separate ways. But if you are a true Christian you will always believe that God is with you. He is the refuge in the storm, the hero during our crisis.
As I stated before, salvation is like lightning, in appearance, in method, in almost every way. From “A Lesson Before Dying”, to reality, to my own story, salvation is unpredictable and yet always the same. Like lightning strikes recorded on the weather channel, we can look back in history and see the times that salvation came when hope was lost. Even then we may never truly know what we were being saved
Why is it important for Christians to have a God-centered worldview? From a Christian view, the
Burning Passion: Controversial Thoughts in Fahrenheit 451 The thought of a new perspective and views on different way of life is what has shaped the world we live in today. However, some people prefer to restrict the advancements of those that could bring revolutionary change to the human race. The action of banning and placing limits on the ideas presented by Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 is out of fear of awakening the inner thoughts that lead to change and individuality.
Kraft explores worldview functions in appendix A of “Christianity with Power.” He starts by overviewing worldview functions and universals. The four worldview functions are explaining, evaluating and validating, assigning and prioritizing commitments, interpreting, integrating, and adapting. The “explaining” function discusses how we, as a society, develop our picture of what REALITY looks like. The “evaluating and validating” function is to enable people to evaluate what goes on and around inside of them and validate common perceptions and behaviors.
His journey through Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven is what grants him salvation and the reason he never loses hope. The souls atoning for their sins in Purgatory have hope of salvation since all the most do is wait and atone in order to be in Heaven. The hope is only stripped from the souls damned to Hell while every other soul possess hope for
(What is a world view? - definition & introduction). While, Byrom said that we are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts we make the world that is our worldview (Byrom, 1976/1993, p. 1).
Humans are like puppets; they have the freedom of choice however their decisions are constantly interfered by the gods. The god’s are given respect due to their extreme power, as mortals know, if offended a god, one would most likely have to face severe consequences. Nonetheless, the gods are not all powerful, as they have emotions that drive them hence weakens them. In Ancient Greek society, having the gods in your favor played a critical role in peoples daily lives, as the gods would extremely influence decision, have significant power over one’s fate, and have direct involvement in the lives of humans. “Father Zeus, is there any mortal left on the wide earth who will still declare to the immortals his mind and his purpose?
