An ecological system is a theory about how a child development is affected by their society and the world around them. This theory was developed by Urie Bronfenbrenner who is a Russian psychologist and is regarded as a pioneer in examining family structure an influence to a child’s development into adulthood. The main purpose of this model is to help in the development of a child and focus on the quality and context of a child’s development. The model contains the structures, relationships and interactions that a child has with the immediate surroundings. It is very crucial for this model to be used as a reference in the development of a child into an adult.
The main purpose of the model is to give us a clearer that are associated with the process of a child’s development. This model also helps identify problems that indirectly affect the child, meaning that this problems or obstacles that may come because of the family and peers and how they affect the child’s development. Bronfenbrenner believes that teachers should create a caring environment and create relationships with the children that can last for a life time. The first core which is the microsystem which is regarded as the most of the ecological system influential and most crucial. Firstly in emphasises on the interaction of the child with the immediate surrounding and people which are mainly the parents, peers and the teachers. If the child has create communication and interaction with the above mentions, the child is most likely to perform well at school because they will be able to open up and communicate their problems to anyone and this will make it easier for them to focus on the academics instead of worrying about the lack of interaction especially with the teachers as they are the ones that play a major role in the academic

Explain the reasons why children and young people’s development may not follow the expected pattern: The reasons why children and young people’s development may not follow the expected patters is due to them maybe having a disability, emotional influences, physical influences, environmental influences, cultural influences, social influences, learning needs and communication skills. Children with disabilities require a lot more support than those without a disability in order to help them develop their skills and become more independent. Disabilities can affect more than one area of a child’s development depending on what disability they have and what support is available in order to help improve the child’s needs etc. Emotionally children are affected due to them maybe having signs of depression where they are quiet than the rest of the children and they shy away from joining in with different activities and getting involved with other children.

The practical knowledge of how to develop a child further will assist in utilising the children's skills and holistic development to their fullest potential, however, knowing how to practically aid children in the separate developmental domains is also key as individual kids need more help in some areas than others.

Throughout this course of four weeks, my perspective of child development has changed drastically in this short amount of time. This was my first class that was related to child development and there was a lot of material that was important to learn and understand. I came to this class with not much knowledge, but I am definitely leaving this class with an abundance of information that I will be able to use in my career or just in general. Discontinuous Within the process of child development, my view is based upon that is children are constantly growing through stages which is a discontinuous process.
