The Terry Fox Foundation (TFF) is an organization founded in 1980 after Terry Fox, a 20-year old patient with bone cancer, ran his Marathon of Hope 5300 km across Canada to raise awareness and money for cancer research. Terry ran “simply to remind Canadians of the importance of finding a cure” (The Terry Fox Foundation ) The TFF holds an annual run in Terry’s name to fundraise for cancer research and bring the visions/values of their organization to life. The TFF believes it is important to tell Terry’s story, and show how one hard working Canadian can make a difference by standing up and doing what they believe in. Since 1980, the TFF has raised over $700 million in Terry’s name and has generously donated it all to cancer research. The Terry Fox Foundation respects Terry’s mission to find a cure and will not rest until it is realized and fulfilled, as Terry never gave up, considering his odds. Terry Fox should be the Greatest Canadian for his contribution to raise cancer awareness and overcome disease; he influenced Canadians to help people with disability. Nobel Prize winner Sir Frederick Banting should be the Greatest Canadian for the discovery of Insulin. He found the cure for diabetes and saved the potential life of millions not only in Canada but across the world. With respect to the initiatives and efforts of Tommy Douglas and Sir Kendrick Banting. Please keep in mind Terry Fox did an excellent job to raise awareness for cancer.
All donations gathered from the weeks leading up to the Terry Fox run by volunteers were directly given to the Terry Fox foundation, where 84 cents of every dollar goes toward funding cancer research. Over 700 000 000 $ worldwide has so far been raised, and every bit was helpful. So far there has been no cure for cancer, so this fight against cancer will continue even after these runs. It is a long road to take, but nonetheless a worthy one to follow.

When I see somebody with cancer, I get really mad, I say to myself, ”Why must this disease be real. Why did God create something so horrible that it can affect anybody.” If it was I who had ten million dollars, I would donate it to St.Jude's Cancer Research Facilities because it is a deadly disease, it is a real-nonprofit research organization, and it covers all expenses for families. Cancer is among the top ten leading causes of death in the world. This disease takes nearly eight million lives every year.
This organization gives money to children with life altering diseases or illnesses. Tom Brady has reached out to help support such foundations as EIF, to help cure cancer, end world hunger, and to end poverty everywhere. The idea is to help retrieve donations from famous icons to help support this less fortunate children as they fight their illnesses. Komen for the Cure has invested $1.9 billion towards breast cancer research, health services, advocacy and support. The organization has several staple fundraising events, such as the Race for the Cure and also functions on contributions from individual donors, partners, sponsors and supporters and has grown into the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to fighting breast cancer in the world. Komen has 121 affiliates that are mainly located in the United States and each affiliate stages a Race for the Cure, one of the organization’s biggest revenue generators. Komen utilizes a franchise-like model for its affiliates, in which they operate as independently incorporated nonprofits but abide by the national group’s policies. Affiliates funnel 25 percent of their net income to the national Komen organization, which uses that money to finance scientific research grants.
Cancer is affecting children across the globe many wanting to do more with their lives and believe that they. Poor children stuck in bed all day stuck doing treatments and only can either play the few games provided to them or watch tv. Childhood cancer has been helped by st.jude across America by chemo treatment and better treatments being found. Childhood cancer is something that a young mind can’t cope with. Cancer is diagnosed each year in about 175,000 children ages 14 and under worldwide.
I would like to congratulate the Woodson Foundation, the schools district, and the NCPIE for attempting to address this problem in the Washington, D.C school district. This is a very important issue and need the upmost effort put forward. This group is past the first stage which is forming stage, the purpose of the group has been established. In this respect the group should know this and not revisit the purpose of the task they agreed to take on.
