1. Identify and describe the importance of five (5) of the following terms:
Salem Witches Trial: being a witch indicates that you have super natural or specific devil powers and you can use them against humans by hurting them in return of their soul or loyalty. The story of the Salem Trial witches began in the year 1692 after several young girls were accused for being witches in Salem village, Massachusetts. After the accusations some witches were hanged on June 1692. But the people that were accused of witchcraft were not only women, some of them were men too. To prove your innocence, you can point on someone else so they know they are the real witches, or you can be submitted into several tests to say you’re not a witch.
Checks and Balances: this is the principal way of government of the united states and prevents the 3 branches of having more power than the other branch. Checks and balances are mostly applied in the government.

That was called the Bill of rights, the first 10 amendments were establish in 1791. The 10 first amendments are important to the people but the one that standout the most is the first amendment that consist in congress shall make no law respecting religion, freedom of speech and of the people peaceably to assemble. What this means is that people can really choose what political they want, and have the free to say what they want. Before it was created the federalist believe that we didn’t need a bill of rights because the state and the people kept a power not giving to the federal government. The anti- federalist believed that having a bill of rights was necessary to have individual safely liberty and have protection as
In the year of 1787, delegates met in Philadelphia to write the Constitution. One major factor they were trying to guard against was tyranny, a type of government with an absolute ruler. This was a big fear because they didn’t want this democracy to turn into a dictatorship. So the delegates brainstormed and make the checks and balances for the three main branches of government. Checks and balances meant that each branch would check all the other branches and balance out their power equally.
Want to know what tyranny is? September 17,1787 is the date of the constitution. The constitution was made because the articles of confederation was falling apart. The place were the constitution was is Philadelphia. How did the constitution guard against tyranny?
The Salem Witch Trials is still alive today ,but just in a different way in Trump’s mind. Should we be worried? Even though the country is founded on freedom of religion ,how is this ban legal to our government. From the witch trials to Trump this method has stayed the same, but is now affecting countries and not just a town. Is Trump finding bad guys in the same way that the witch trials did in 1692?
How are the Holocaust and the Salem Witch Trial similar? Although the Salem Witch Trials and the Holocaust took place in diverse time periods, they both have many corresponding themes such as the killing of innocent people, false accusations, and hysteria. In the spring of 1692, The Salem Witch Trials began in Salem Village, Massachusetts and ended in June 1692 (Miller). During this time period, many men, women, and even children were accused of witchcraft (Salem Witch Trials).
The article “An Attack on the Salem Witch Trials”, written by Thomas Brattle who is a Harvard graduate and a Boston merchant, states a view against the Salem Witch Trials and what they are doing (Dudley 29). On the other side Cotton Mather, a leading minister in Boston, wrote “A Defense of the Salem Witch Trials” which is favored on continuing the trials (Dudley 26). The Salem Witch Trials are a very absurd way to get rid of the so called witches, and should be put to a stop. The article “An Attack on the Salem Witch Trials” stated, “The justices order the apprehended to look upon the said children, which accordingly they do; and at the time of that look, … the afflicted are cast into a fit.”
Salem Witch Trials: Puritans Impact New charter government, lethal frontier war, and political and religious conflicts set the perfect stage for Salem, Massachusetts (Paranoia, the Devil, and Witchcraft). That disaster was known as the Salem Witch trials. The trials was a span of time when people believed in the devil's practice of giving certain humans (witches) the power to harm others (Salem Witch Trials). When the people's superstitions became fear a great deal of innocent people were accused, put on trial, and even murdered (Salem Witch Trials). The first trial began when three girls flew into hysterics on January 20, 1692; their symptoms were so extreme, fear spread quickly (Saari 38,39).
Salem Village, as part of the colony of Massachusetts Bay experienced turmoil from external and internal factors that contributed to the crisis known as the Salem Witchcraft Trials in 1692 to 1693. Being accused of witchcraft that lead to a trial was not unheard of before this event, however the scale and hysteria of the event can be attributed to a few factors. The mass hysteria experienced by Salem Village did not appear out of nowhere. There was a sense of unease and fear due to the ongoing war between New France and New England, King William’s War. Not far North of Salem Village there were raids of towns by Native American’s on behalf of the French, including Andover, Massachusetts where they burned the village, and in the following year
In Salem, Massachusetts, Puritans were strong believers in the Bible. The Bible states, “Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.” The Puritans beliefs led to them accusing 20 innocent people of being a witch, this resulted in their deaths in 1692. Even though the Puritans couldn’t see it at the time, their accusations were really based off jealousy, lies, and Salem being divided into two parts. One cause of the Salem witch trial hysteria was jealousy.
REVIEW OF LITRATURE A.) SUMMARY SOURCE A Although the whole book had information on the Salem witch trials. The introduction, chapter 1 and 2 and the conclusion had information regarding the research needed • Introduction: states what the Salem witch trials where and who they accused.
Can you imagine being accused of committing a crime that you did not commit? Innocent people were being accused of performing witchcraft and being witches. Salem witchcraft started in a town called Salem, which is in the state of Massachusetts, back in 1692. The story behind this was that three girls were one day begining to worry their parents. All the girls did was do normal kid things like climb on furniture and jump around acting crazy.
Mustafa Tambawalla, 1st Hour The Constitution: A Minority Document, Charles A. Beard Thesis: The Constitution is a document which enacted social and political changes on American Society; Furthermore, it established a series of checks and balances to regulate the allocation of power in congress. The document also conferred powers onto the federal government, and enacted a variety of restrictions on state governments.
Sadly, in even today's society people pay the price for something they didn’t do without proper evidence. Thirty-three men and women paid the ultimate price for being accused of witchcraft. The Salem Witch Trials are a famous mark on the history of the United States, which led to the conviction and execution of those accused of witchcraft in 1692 in Massachusetts. This time is history shows the human brutality and what extremes people will go to when face-to-face with fear. The terrifying Witch Trials that took place in Salem, Massachusetts during the Puritan Era were never fully resolved, since then many theories have evolved over time for the cause of them.
“The Salem witch trials occurred in Colonial Massachusetts between sixteen ninety two and sixteen ninety three.” (¼) During this time loads of people were accused of witchcraft over two hundred to be exact. A witch hunt is a search for persecution of a so called witch, and unfortunately during The Salem witch trials it was just one big witch hunt. The Salem witch trials began in January of sixteen ninety two, and I quote “when a group of young girls began to display bizarre behavior.”
In Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense”, he said it’s absurd for an island to rule over a continent. This is especially true when Great Britain imposed tyrannic and restrictive laws on the colonies, so the founding fathers of the new independent country created the new constitution in a way the would prevent tyranny in the newly independent United States. The Articles of Confederation was the first plan of government for the newly formed U.S. The Articles were to weak to support a nation properly, so the new constitution began to form. How does the Constitution , a plan of government, guard against the government abusing its power.
The Crucible by Arthur Miller is a play about what happened during the Salem Witch Trials. It gives insight about what people had to deal with in this situation and how they handled it. The trials were basically a big test which helped figuring out whether or not people were guilty of witchcraft. This is an example of what a crucible is. In our world today we still have crucibles and even though they are different than back then, they all relate to each other because of what influence they have on people.
