This is why it is important to consider the reliability of the information that we gather and also the limitations of any observation methods that are used. • Avoiding bias It is really important at all stages of observing and assessing a child to be completely objective. Two people can record the same child doing the same activity and they can produce two very different observations, for example one person might decide that a smile is important and so they will record it but another person might decide otherwise.

Over the past few months, the class has been discussing typical and atypical language development and the assessment and intervention of children with language delay or disorder. In line with this, the students were asked to observe children aged 0-12 years old with language problems for 2 hours. For this requirement, I went to a therapy center situated in Quezon City last November 16, from ten (10) A.M. to twelve (12) N.N. The center has multiple rooms that are used for speech therapy and occupational therapy. During my observation, two speech pathologists and two children with language disorder were sharing one speech therapy room.

The class had been working of group projects and the student had to be assisted by his teacher, so he may lack the independent milestone to a certain degree. Conclusion Every child is different, especially when it comes to meeting their developmental milestone. Knowing the level that a child should meet when they reach a certain age is important.

All of these things that I observed are expected findings of cognitive skills at four years of age. She was developmentally appropriate for her age in cognitive skills. Lastly, I observed her communication skills. Her speech was understandable about 90% of the time and she used complete sentences.

Introduction This assignment is in two parts. The first part of this assignment would attempt to use the theories of human development to explain the child behaviour observed during child observation at the preschool while the second part of this assignment would propose an intervention on a scenario at my practice placement. I would demonstrate my critical understanding of the theories and evaluate their relevance for evidence-informed and value-based practice. Observations from the physical, cognitive and perceptual development show that toddlers and infants grow and develop at a faster rate than adults. The physical, cognitive and motor development in infants and toddlers is higher than the same development in adults. This paper is an analysis and interpretation of an observation conducted with an aim to understand the growth and development of toddlers and infants. It explains an observation of an infant boy named Taylor who is 8 months old.

Alex is a delightful child with qualities that make her a credit to her family. Alex’s self-esteem and self-worth appears very positive as she has a bright and bubbly nature, with a friendly, chatty and caring disposition. Alex likes herself and those around her which is evidenced by her being a popular child amongst her peers. It could be suggested, it is likely Alex’s temperament which has enabled her to be resilient and remain positive, despite previously experiencing severe trauma and distress. It is has been lovely watching Alex grow in confidence over the weeks spent working with her.

When it comes to the development of children or in other words toddler, it is important to have an understanding as you see your child go through these changes physically and mentally. Even though there are general patterns to how children develop emotionally, socially, and physically, each child is unique and will develop in a special way. Individual differences can be very striking between the first and fourth birthday and are caused by the different experiences that each child has throughout their childhood. Having a stimulating environment for the child is very important, without this type of environment the child will never grow or learn. All experiences that a toddler goes through affecting their social and emotional growth.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this case study is to determine if a 17 year old female, Emily, is appropriately developing physically, socially, and cognitively based on examined factors. Some factors that will be considered is the child's family situation, sociality, future plans, growth experiences, hobbies, and personality factors. The qualitative information provided will be used to determine if the child has adapted to the appropriate developmental stage of her age group. The analysis will also determine how each factor has impacted the development of the child.

Throughout this course of four weeks, my perspective of child development has changed drastically in this short amount of time. This was my first class that was related to child development and there was a lot of material that was important to learn and understand. I came to this class with not much knowledge, but I am definitely leaving this class with an abundance of information that I will be able to use in my career or just in general. Discontinuous Within the process of child development, my view is based upon that is children are constantly growing through stages which is a discontinuous process.
