COMMUNITY REPUTATION: a. The Community perceives the Manager as a person of integrity, ability, and devotion to the city. I believe the community does perceive me as a person of integrity, ability and devotion to the city. I foster the community’s impression by regularly writing City Manager articles, my devotion to Rotary and other public service organizations as well as encouraging others to become involved within the community. Furthermore, I draw upon my private sector experience to understand how issues mesh between private and public sector entities. This deep understanding of both the public and private sectors has allowed me to forge strong relationships with other community leaders. 15. CITIZEN RELATIONS: a. The City Manager properly handles complaints from citizens. I utilize a team approach to handling citizen complaints by delegating to the appropriate team member. Johns and her people getting out of the office frequently to look at things personally. This is true of both important and mundane issues. I also involve my team members so they see the whole picture and take ownership in resolving issues. The Galaxy Way street project is but one example of this. I took the City Assessor and Community Development Director out of the office in my personal vehicle to look at the project and deepen their understanding of this important issue. Also, on the way back to the office, I stopped by a resident’s home to look at a complaint I received regarding a plastic bag that had wrapped around a utility wire. I investigated the plastic bag complaint and then reported the problem to a Consumers Edison employee. The plastic bag and Galaxy Way have both since come to a
