Comparison Of John Adams And Thomas Jefferson

Both Thomas Paine and Thomas Jefferson like many of the founding fathers of America share a ideology concerning independence and freedom in general. Although the two were notably talented writers, the difference in their arguments was their respective deliveries, writing styles, and their timing. Personally, I agree more with the way Thomas Paine chose to present his point of view. Common sense, for example, was a significant eye-opener for many Americans. One of the only reasons it made such huge impact was because it was written in a style that was easy to understand for the average American.

The two documents “Letter to John Adams” and “Declaration of Sentiments of the Seneca Falls Women’s Rights Convention” are both historical documents that helped start the women’s rights movements. “Lettter to John Adams” is a letter written to founding father John Adams by his wife Abigail. “Declaration of Sentiments” was written by Elizabeth Cady Stanton for the first Women’s Rights Convention. The two documents were very similar, but they have a few key differences.

My name is Gilbert Thomas and I’m a 42 year old minister from Rhode Island. Although some ministers choose to ignore party politics, I think it is desirable for every minister and I to preach about politics because it could not only help preserve civil justice, but I feel that we also have an obligation to voice the whole counsel of God, which encompasses all human relations. I choose to vote for John Adams. Thomas Jefferson has presented his ideas in which he believes there should be a separation of church and state. Jefferson and the Republicans demand this, but at the same time, introduce religious endeavors into their own politics.

The ELECTION OF 1800 between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson was a passionate and hard-battled crusade. Each side trusted that triumph by the other would destroy the country. Federalists assaulted Jefferson as an un-Christian deist whose sensitivity for the French Revolution would convey comparative carnage and mayhem to the United States. On the opposite side, the Democratic-Republicans reproved the solid centralization of government control under Adams' administration.

The first three men to be president built the foundations of America that made it into the country we see today. George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson were the beginning of a great country built with hope, freedom, life, and liberty. Our first three presidents were essential to the making of this country. Washington, Adams, and Jefferson’s backgrounds, political views, and accomplishments, though different, lead to the making of a successful government and country. While Washington and Jefferson were born in Virginia, John Adams was born in Massachusetts.

Thomas Cooper delicately argues for the successes of the British government due to its capability to function as one of the leading nations of the world while Thomas Jefferson argues vehemently for the prosperity of the American society because it maintains safety and happiness for the country and for the individual. Jefferson’s Ambition for Agrarian Republic Thomas Jefferson’s presidency was filled with his desire to introduce and establish agrarian republicanism to America. A society that produces and maintains its economy by the means of agriculture. Since this was his true belief, it was certain his vision would run into a few conflicts. These conflicts include but are not limited to the threat that slavery would be abolished, the short span of time Jefferson had to achieve his goal, and the opposing desires of his citizens to industrialize America.

The Age Of Enlightenment was a period in the 18th century where change in philosophy, beliefs, and cultural life took place in Europe and in the Americas. There were many historical figures that helped shaped everything that took place during this era. Two very important historical figures I will be talking about are John Adams and Samuel Adams. The two were influenced by the Age Of Enlightenment. They had very similar visions but their different actions spoke louder more than anything.

Political parties, Democratic Republicans and Federalists, started in the U.S. because of differing views of Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson, and the influence of newspapers. Jefferson’s and Hamilton’s different ways of thinking(mostly on issues that was beneficial for the country) played a huge part in the start of political parties. They fought about economy. Jefferson liked farming while Hamilton preferred manufacturing and trade. Interpretation of the Constitution was another thing they fought upon.

Compare the backgrounds of Jefferson and Paine; did Paine have an advantage or disadvantage by not being born in the colonies? Explain. Paine had the advantage of being able to see the issues from the outside and from a lower point of society. To be able to understand a bigger group of people is far more of an advancement than to always target the smaller group. Which was the cause of the colonies not wanting to be under rule.

When the year of 1807 came around, the way that America elected a president changed. In previous elections, only the rich men were able to vote which as a result whoever promised more the wealth was elected for president. When the common man was able to vote in 1807, the type of candidate to win the election change. As seen in the election of 1828 the person who was more relatable to the people, won because the common man was able to vote and so they used that opportunity and elected whoever they thought was going to help them. Overall the people preferred Jackson over Adams because Jackson was able to relate to the people better, and because he was a symbol of the American dream.

When comparing Sam Adams, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams, we can see that there are some similarities and differences between the men. Perhaps the most notable relation this group has, is that they were all formal presidents and had some type of power or ownership. The qualities of all four men are often seen as opposed to each other. One similarity for example, with George Washington and Thomas Jefferson was that they were prosperous Virginian plantation owners and held slaves. Jefferson and Adams were both well educated people and knew about the law.

Thomas Jefferson during the 1790’s-1800’s while working with federalists Alexander Hamilton, his viewpoints were different. During the 1790’s Jefferson was known to be in the democratic-republican party where he progresses an ideal structure of equivalencies between money and weight standards with the American/Spanish currency. Jefferson took charge of the republicans after a conflict created two parties, republican-democratic and the federalist, who empathized with the revolutionary cause in France. While attacking the federalist policies, Jefferson opposed a strong centralized government and granted the rights of states. Edward Mitchell 10/22/2016 English 10 Essay Unit 1 Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson played a large role in motivating the fight toward freedom in the weeks leading up to the Revolutionary War and immediately following it. Each believed in the fundamental right to be free from rule. Patrick Henry appealed to the people’s fear of war. Thomas Jefferson was able to convince people that together, they could form a new nation. The writings of each man reveals a very chaotic time in America’s history and the leadership, determination, and boldness of Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson ensured that when change came, the people were ready for it.

A meeting was called up, number of delegates have met in Philadelphia to discuss/construct a new form of government. Here is where George Washington became America’s first president and a new government was formed. George Washington was a leader of integrity and respected all his people and their rights, he lead by the land of the law (the Constitution). The system had been very successful, the national government had an increase in power in which the civilians were no longer allowed to do as they please. It had created boundaries between the two.
