I used Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques with some of my clients. I was not trained in this therapy but was familiar with the idea of being in the here-and-now. This technique worked for my schizophrenic client by keeping her focused on what was happening each day by writing in a journal and distracting her from what she thought had been happening in her past. I was able to use Art Therapy with the client I had with PTSD, depression, and suicidal thoughts. I had one client on probation who was ordered to be in counseling before she could get off of probation. She was also ordered to take anger management before she could get off probation. AMD did not offer anger management so I found her a place that she could take anger management for eight weeks. She had to come up with the money to take the classes, and she did it and was able to get off of probation. Sadly, she died in …show more content…
He had some PTSD issues from his childhood relating to his mother. He had had so much counseling that he knew what to say and how to say it. He wanted help with the issues of abuse from his mother so I decided to use Seeking Safety techniques with him (Najavitis, L.M., 2002). I had taught Seeking Safety when I worked at the women’s prison. My client did not want to attend a group so I started doing it with him in individual session. He was really good at first with keeping his appointments, but as his visitation hearing came closer, he stopped coming to counseling. His father was an attorney and was helping him with his case. I thought he was doing really well. He was attending college, going to Alcoholics Anonymous several times a week, and hanging out with sober friends. I learned on the last day of my internship that he had died of an overdose. It made me feel really bad because he stopped coming for counseling and probably still needed
spoke with LAbcorp Billing department (Wendy K.) and she told me that the reason of why the patient labs was denied is b/c his insurance benefit package doesn 't cover the service. She said that our Provider from Westside doesn 't have to do nothing with this. We select the appropriate CPT codes and Dx Codes for this type of visit and also this is nothing related with any NPI number from our providers. I think the patient need to contact directly LABCORP billing department and spoke whith them about the bill. Labcorp and his payer need to work together on this since WFH don 't bill Labs to Labcorp.
This therapy is not focused on what happened in the client’s life, but how the client
Marsha Linehan started off life with major difficulties in functioning, moved passed and learned to cope these difficulties, and created a successful and widely-used therapeutic approach that can help people who suffer from chronic disorders. She struggled most of her early adult life, but was able to work past her issues after she had a realization in her chapel one night. After a sudden realization, she was able to learn how to cope with her thoughts and feelings. Linehan, after working hard to complete her education following her institutionalization, apply everything she had realized to create a successful therapeutic approach. Her past experiences helped her shape Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) into a successful therapeutic approach to help people who suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), suicidal thoughts and attempts, and other chronic mental disorders.
Just think, no wine.no beer,no whiskey. This is prohibition. The leaders of the prohibition movement were alarmed at the drinking behavior of Americans. The law was ratified by the Federal and state government In January,1919.Prohibition in the United States was a measure designed to reduce drinking by eliminating the businesses that manufactured, distributed, and sold alcoholic beverages. The Eighteenth Amendment (prohibition law) to the United States Constitution took away license to do business from the brewers, distillers, vintners, and the wholesale and retail sellers of alcoholic beverages.
A plan is filled out and signed by the client, the family member responsible for the client, the therapist and the nurse (Appendix F). A client must remain sober on home passes and when they return, clients deemed “at risk of substance abuse” will have a urine analysis. In addition, clients will have belongings searched for contraband, such as alcohol or cigarettes (Appendix G). Johnny was also provided with a “readiness to change assessment at intake, midway through treatment and nearing discharge (Appendix H). The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 was also pertinent to this case due to the need for client confidentiality (Appendix I).
Working with families or individual persons can be very tricky if there are multiple problems involved. It is not only defining what the problems are but also what interventions can be put in place to help them. By offering interventions to the client we are trying to give them the opportunity to use the best resources that are available to them in the community. This can include anything from Alcoholics Anonymous to pregnancy support; there are many different types of support networks in communities it is just finding the right one that fits with the problem at hand.
In my current role as Probation and Parole Officer, I have learned and gain a lot of experience with the Delaware Court System. While supervising individuals on level 2 Domestic Violence, level 2 interstate and current case load standard level 2 and pre-trial supervision, I have gain a lot of experience with the different court systems which entails, Family Court, Court of Common Pleas, Superior Court, and Justice of Peace. When the court orders an individual to serve Probation, It is my duties to make sure I’m enforcing the terms and conditions of supervision and keeping the Court informed of the individuals compliance or noncompliance. The courts have various programs and resources they can implement to not only help the individual but also the probation officer with their recommendation. The court can request that an individual get evaluated by a physiatrist (most time the evaluation is funded by the state).
Parole is honoring one’s word that an offender will not re-offend. I have mixed views about giving repeat offenders parole. The whole idea of parole is giving a person a second chance after committing a crime and paying for that crime and re-entering society. Everyone deserves a second chance, because sometimes a person could be in the wrong place and the wrong time and get caught up in a certain situation. Because a person who is on parole is getting the chance to serve the remaining time from jail to enter into the world and are able to get a job and pay fines, and still be under supervision of an officer to stay clean from drugs and not to repeat a crime, they should not be able to repeat an offense.
My initial perception of the members in the room is that some members may be shy to disclose their stories, but was amazed that everyone came forth in the room to discuss their shortcoming. Furthermore, I did not have any stereotypes perception about alcoholism since I am aware that alcoholism is a disease that affects the brain. My understanding about alcoholism was confirmed by the various client verbalization of their stories and problems associated with
Going through probation has been an extremely crazy experience. While being on probation it was a big opportunity to turn my life around. Through that journey it showed me that my friends are not really my friends, I did things I never thought I’d do in life, and ended up back into the system; it also made me the person I am today. That one life experience has made a big rotation in my life that I am very proud of and I wouldn’t change anything about it, not one bit.
The following is the case study of a male client, Antwone Fisher, a temperamental young black man with a violent history who is serving in the U.S. Navy. Antwone Fisher, a twenty five-year-old man, suffering from a covert behavior due to physical, sexual, and psychological abuse by Mrs. Tate at the foster home during his childhood. The rough life he had as a child caused him to have a violent temper; after getting into a fight with a fellow sailor, Antwone’s commanding officer orders him to go to psychiatric treatment. Where he meets a psychiatric who attempts to get him open up, but Antwone is at first extremely resistant and afraid to tell the truth about his past. Through a process of discovery, Antwone opens up and revels that he was verbally,
The therapist or researcher would help the subject to work through the concerned area by using “mindfulness” (adaptations of meditation on positive aspects of life to be cultivated). This is outlined in the MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) plan from the Military Medicine Journal
It lacks the focus on determining the underlying unconsciousness in the clients and due to this fails in relating the client’s past with the present experiences. Since it entails confrontation, this therapy may witness cases of termination, as most clients may not cope with its expectations (Fall & Holden,
I do envision being able to surpass whatever is holding me back from performing this form of therapy. I do believe that one day I will be able to openly display unconditional positive regard to all my clients no matter what impulses or behaviors they have acted upon and carried out in their lives. As a therapist, I will need to be genuine with my clients and provide the nurturance and support they need. I feel that this treatment approach is very effective because it allows the clients to be autonomous and still have the support they require for inner personal growth. I feel that providing these services to my clients
According to group counseling, it has its own benefits
