My Education goals are why I chose APUS, When I graduated from high school in 2014 I started my ROP Dental Assisting program to become a Certified Dental assistant in the state of California so that I could get my foot in the door in Dentistry to one day become a Dental Hygienist. But now here I am two years later working as a full time dental assistant and I have no passion or desire in pursuing in becoming a Hygienist because its not something I feel I could really be happy with and do for the rest of my life. My real passion has always been with children I have always loved working with children weather it was when I was working at a daycare in high school or when I was a cheerleading coach for young girls between the ages of 4-9, I have …show more content…
Second reason is the tuition and the payment methods you give your students are very fair and reasonable being able to make payments is something that really helps and makes it possible to go to school while working fulltime. Third reason is the way APUS approached me after applying, I have looked at other schools like Saint Leo University and Aspen Colorado University and yes they are good schools but were either to pushy with phone calls everyday and not giving me space to decide what it is that I want or not being able to get in contact with someone with questions that I did have. That is why I continued to look at other schools and when I came across APUS and applied I had been approached via phone call and email informing me that if I have any questions with my application I can call or email and for me emailing is a big thing due to the fact I work full time on the west coast so sometimes I am not able to return a phone call as soon as possible. APUS has explained things for me and really seems to help show me how to break things down and I really admire that about your school and the fact it is a online school makes it very manageable for me while working full
Dentists will diagnose and treat problems that occur in the mouths, teeth, and gums of the patients they oversee. Some of these treatments include filling cavities, removing decay from teeth, straightening teeth, place sealants, give whitening treatments, write prescriptions, examine x-rays, and administer anesthetics during procedures. They also counsel each individual on how to maintain good oral hygiene and base their diet around their teeth. Some dentists may also make models and take measurements of oral appliances such as dentures and retainers. To become a dentist, you must obtain a Bachelor's degree and then enter a dental school.

Over the years, there are a lot of changes that has happened in this profession, where others may or may not find it beneficial. Ontario, being the first province that recognizes dental hygienists, has established their own college for the profession, which is called College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO). Before it has been established, dental hygienists are dependent to Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDHO), which by that time they can just work on a client when a dentist gave them an instruction. Before, the main focus of dental hygienists is to treat clients’ tooth decay and gum diseases. As years pass by, it has been changed and their scope of practice becomes much wider, like they can also provide different kind
There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the topic of whether or not a dental hygienist’s personal and social life should reflect on the profession itself. Some argue that once the work day ends, a dental hygienist no longer represents the dental hygiene profession. They do not feel that the actions of the healthcare professional outside of the workplace should represent the profession whatsoever. Others raise the argument that the actions of a dental hygienist away from work, should be reflective of their profession. They feel that when a hygienist leaves the dental clinic, they are still representing the healthcare professional community and that their actions outside of the workplace should always have an impact on the profession.

Not every seventeen year old can tell you what they plan on majoring in without changing their mind but not me. I’ve always been interested in teeth. I plan on studying Dental Hygiene at Northern Arizona University because I want to be exposed to more than one learning environment. When I receive my bachelors in Dental Hygiene I want to stay in Flagstaff for a couple years and eventually go back to school in order to become a dentist but I would rather be practicing dental hygiene than go to dental school for a long period of time.
The career field that I have chosen to go into is the medical field. In the medical field I would like to become a dental hygienist. The background that I have on dental hygienist is that you exam gums, clean teeth, and teach about oral care. The research that I have already done on this profession is a dental hygienist annual salary and required hour of work. Some more research I utilized is how many years of college are needed, what you do while at work, and if you work by yourself or who you work with.
When we were all younger, most of us had an idea of what we wanted to be when we grew up. Whether it was a firefighter or president, we all had our future planned out. But once we got older and entered high school, plans changed. For me personally, I changed my mind a couple of times before I made a decision about what I wanted to do with my life. I decided that I wanted to go to Parkland College and get my degree in Dental Hygiene.
As a student pursuing dental assisting, I am dedicated to embodying the core values of service, team player, and innovation in my work. To me, service means putting the needs of others before mine and going above and beyond to provide satisfaction and comfort for others. When I become a dental assistant, I will strive to create a warm and welcoming environment that calms any existing nerves the patient may have. I would always have a kind and approachable demeanor and take the time to hear any concerns or questions the patient may have. Service is an important aspect of life to me.

My ambition to study Dental Hygiene and Therapy at University commenced in my teenage years, when I first came to London and visited the dentist. The professional approach coupled with a kind and compassionate nature and all of the different instruments and scientific technology the Dental Hygienist and Therapist used fascinated me. I am currently studying Dental Nursing at Teesside University. This course involves providing correct support to the dentist at the chair side, reassuring and supporting patients, maintaining a gold standard clinical environment, charting, dental anatomy and physiology. Studying this course has enhanced my knowledge of dental terminology and procedures as well as the anatomy of the oral cavity.
Annotated Bibliography Tashina Stoffel, Personal Interview, 3 November 2015 I prepared for my interview by researching questions that would really be essential to my essay. I chose questions that would be easy for her to answer and questions that could be incorporated into my essay. I also asked questions that would be fun for her to answer and that could help influence my decision on the career. I used the answers to the questions to introduce the career.
My ultimate goal is to become a dental hygienist. This fall coming up, I will attend Lenoir Community College to complete some of the prerequisites. Then I plan to enter the dental program at Wayne Community College by the next fall. When I gain acceptance in the Dental program I will work towards obtaining a certificate for dental assistant.
I could immerse myself for hours, infusing life into a seemingly dull piece of paper, meticulously applying vibrant color pencil strokes as an image gradually emerged before my eyes, unveiling a synergistic transformation. If you could introduce my younger self to a profession that could mimic my methods of creating color pencil art while integrating science to benefit others, he’d gladly extend a gesture of gratitude with a complementary drawing. Thankfully, dental school introduced me to such a profession—orthodontics—with the expectation of gaining comprehensive knowledge, sparing me from having to give away any artwork. Among the vast array of knowledge I encountered in dental school, I found myself naturally drawn to the field of orthodontics.
Attacking the core of a problem solves not only that problem but others that don’t even seem to be related. Ive always been passionate about making a drastic change in people lives to better them in any way I can. As a kid it would be imagining crazy scenarios where I save people like a superhero, but as we grow older we see that superheroes, as cliché as it may sound, don’t always wear capes. These are the people impacting lives every day by simply using their knowledge to impact other’s lives for the better. This is what I hoped to do with a career in dentistry as I entered my undergraduate career.
