Many people in today's society need or want assistance because expenses are going up these days. I never understood that many people go without things just because of the cost or they feel that it's not a necessity in life.
Education plays an important role as well. Since I am pursuing a degree, I am already moving up on the chain but for those who work without an education will stay in the same social class, which might become a trend in their family. I always knew that statistics say that a person will most likely follow in their parents same patterns but that's not the case for some people. I learned that many individuals try to move their social status up but it's hard to achieve if you're starting from the bottom.
I also learned that peer pressure is common for everyone, whether we notice it or not. In my future career, I’ll examine patients dental hygiene, in other words I can tell if they brush, floss, smoke, and other things as well. If a teenager is smoking, I can guess that it's from peer pressure and not a self made choice since smoking is an old trend brought back but on other forms like e-cigarettes and hookah. Peer pressure happens to everyone, we follow others without notice at times and that's comely

My motivation in life thrives when I face challenges. My biggest challenge was moving away from my family and developing my network on my own. Growing up as a member of a Korean family, our greatest values are gathering and having quality time. Thus, it was hard to accept that I am no longer involved in family times due to the long distance. However, as I had more time for myself, I could look back at myself and explore my interest.

I am currently studying Dental Nursing at Teesside University. This course involves providing correct support to the dentist at the chair side, reassuring and supporting patients, maintaining a gold standard clinical environment, charting, dental anatomy and physiology. Studying this course has enhanced my knowledge of dental terminology and procedures as well as the anatomy of the oral cavity.
