Descriptive Essay: The Oakland Museum Of California

Art has been around for centuries, expressed in various ways through different mediums; painting, drawing, photography, music, and so many more. Each having smaller categories within them. One can create a portrait with different types of paint, chalk, pens and pencils, the lens of a camera. A musician can convey a feeling within lyrics, or notes of a song. Separate forms of art, yet if you look closely enough, you can see similarities as well.

This made the Art Garage an attraction for both the locals and tourists. The interior of the museum was simplistic. The walls were painted white while the ceiling was the color black. The color choices were interesting because the walls and the ceiling made a huge contrast.

These pieces are highlighted with natural light by a clever system of mirrors. The museum sits on a 15 acre lot, surrounded by gardens and natural beauty. The Approach One of the first things that I noticed was the impressive gardens

The figure of the woman seems to be backed up by no background but a white void. This sense of emptiness distantly resemble oriental Chinese painting. The figure seems to dissolve into the void. The composition is integrated and the painting seems harmonious and dynamic due to the curvilinear lines formed by the edges of flat color blocks. There seems to be musical rhythm to the painting.

Museums are located all over the world. They contain pieces and artifacts that are intriguing and educational. Everyday people visit museums and embrace everything it provides. The process of retrieving artifacts, representing culture and running a museum is difficult. There are many factors that go into the the exhibits and picking the right pieces.

The Orlando Museum of Art, also known as OMA, is a hub of Central Florida when it comes to pulling in remarkable works of art for the public eye to pay patronage to. Today I visited such a place for the annual Antiques Vintage and Garden Show, which took place between February 19th through the 21st. Included in the price of a ticket was also admission to The OMA’s current exhibitions, which included Women of Vision: National Geographic Photographers and their other running exhibits, which contained an array of work, ranging from Pre-Columbian sculptures to more contemporary works of the 21st century. The two museums that I chose to visit were the LA Plaza de Arte y Cultura and The America Tropical: Interpretative Center. Los Angeles is one of the most popular cities in California with plenty of museums and places to visit. There is so much history to learn about that I had not realized before. I try to avoid the area due to high traffic, but the area was nice and there were so many friendly people. I am not originally from Los Angeles; I grew up in the Inland Empire, but Los Angeles always fascinated me.

In his essay, “the Silent Message of the Museum”, Fred Wilson discusses in depth his own projects that involves exhibition making. In particular, I want to focus on his seminal exhibition at the Maryland Historical Society in 1992, known as Mining the Museum. By rearranging and re-contextualizing the museum collections, Wilson is able to offer an entirely new perspective on these objects at odds with the previous bias and limitations, and thus make the invisible visible. Response paper #1 Recently I took a tour of the James E. Lewis Museum of art located in Baltimore, MD. This museum is a part of Morgan State University fine arts building. As I walked into the museum I notice the beautiful entrance that consist of sculptures of very important people in history. In addition I was amazed by the infrastructure of the museum and the setup of the lighting in the museum.

In a display along the wall to the left of a house-like display, behind the small, white picket fence, of items the patron would typically see in a 1930s era home that include an antique sewing machine table and an old phonograph player. On the wall above this display has some old black and white photos taken during that era that capture the hardships the people faced such as the farming difficulties and the breathing difficulties, the black cloud of dust rolling into town, and the great sadness in the aftermath when the dust finally settled, showing everything buried in a blanket of dirt. The house-like display consists of a typical 1930s living room that include such items as family heirlooms and family photos. The museum patron can walk up onto the porch and go in the front door as if walking into the house itself. Upon stepping inside, the patron will see things like old photos, a rocking chair, a couch, and a desk.

The painting is oil on canvas and contains an extensive amount of contrast. For example, the bright vermillion blanket against the dull eggshell colored door. The disparity between the colors used is prominent. Additionally, the fusion of ornate patterns and simplistic solids is evident. The tablecloth is a geometric mixture of cream and periwinkle.

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum showcases Mrs. Gardner 's collection to the public in greater Boston area. Each room functions as a pilgrimage, as one travels through various countries and time periods ending at the chapel and subsequently the Gothic room. In this paper, I will examine the Gothic room 's theme in relation to the placement of its objects. I will also evaluate the room 's strengths and challenges in serving the public, and how the practices employed in this room fit into the context of accessibility for the entire museum.

Rocking gently, the car of the Ferris Wheel stops at the very top. That is to say, not everyone can relate to a specific work of art on everything but there are always plenty more of them for they to appreciate and relate to themselves. Moreover, everything in this world is related to each other and art is one of them. Which proved the point that art is essential in building a successful country. The contributions of art are huge despite what people think of it.
