Dodgeball; the greatest elimination game on Earth. What would you think if you could never play it again? I, for one, would be crushed that could never play it again. Many principals in Elkton, Maryland banned dodgeball because they believed it was inappropriate. They removed it from the P.E. curriculum just recently. I believe that dodgeball shouldn’t be taken out of the curriculum because it helps them be more aware, teaches them about life, and it leads to more games being taken away. First, I think that dodgeball helps kids develop a better sense of what is around them because if there are three balls being thrown at them at once, they’ll have to observe their surroundings and find a way out of the dilemma in order to stay in the game. …show more content…
Vince Lombardi once said “It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get back up.” He’s absolutely correct. If you get knocked down, getting up is an option. Though no one wants injuries, sometimes life stings. It’s a part of life that’s inevitable. If they do get out, they cheer for their team and practice good sportsmanship. There were days when schools promoted this for that very reason. Kids have to accept that that they have limits and know what they are so they can overcome them. Some schools have gone even further and banned tag and even balls in general! Elkton schools are on the verge of banning childhood. Imagine spending a year at school without ever seeing a ball. That basically eliminates phys ed in general. What would they play without tag or balls? What would they do at recess? Sit around on the bleachers all day? Kids won’t get any exercise without running or balls. While you’re banning balls, tag, and dodgeball, why not go ahead and ban running in gym altogether? In conclusion, dodgeball shouldn’t be taken out of the curriculum because it helps them be more aware, teaches them about life, and it leads to more games being taken away. I hope you take my side in this argument that is intense as war because just imagining a year at school without tag, balls, or dodgeball gives me goosebumps on my
I believe that Dodgeball should be banned. This game is basically telling us to go against everything that all of our teachers and principals are telling us. This game is teaching us to not work together and to target people who aren't very athletic. This is also telling us that it is ok to team up on people and that its ok to target people.
Recently, school principals in Elkton, Maryland have banned dodgeball and other “human target” games like jail break and tag. This is all because the school district thinks it goes against everything they taught the children. They want to prevent bullying and children not feeling good about themselves. Andrew Mead, the program manager a NASPE says, “Games like dodgeball and tag, don’t keep kids involved and physically active. They objectify slower students who don’t catch as well.”
Youths should not be banned from dodgeball, cheer leading, and football. One reason why kids should be allowed to play dodgeball is that not only does it teach them god eye coordination and many other mental and physical skills but, many kids enjoy having the challenge of going against someone or even that going against someone bigger. I do not think kids should be forced to play dodgeball just because it gives them good mental and physical skills but, I do think other kids who do enjoy a challenge should be allowed to. Author Rick Hanetho, founder of the National Amatur Dodgeball says, “The game allows kids who are not good athletes to participate in a team sport.” (171).
I agree with the everything that the school said and I think that dodge ball should be removed. Using kids as targets is not ok! Dodgeball is a game where you are supposed to have two teams and try to avoid getting hit by balls thrown by the other team. However, kids do not always
My opinion on dodge ball is they should get rid of it. Dodge ball is an elimination game and most of the people that are eliminated are weak and need more physical activity. So schools need to help and work with games that involve more physical activity and games that do not eliminate kids. Half of the time schools like to have everyone participate in everything and when you're eliminating people they are not participating. Another reason they banned dodge ball is because it's violent and inappropriate.
Also they banned it because they think it is inappropriate and is not aligned with the values taught in school. Principals removed it from the physical education curriculum which I think is over the moon ridiculous .I think they should not ban dodgeball. I think the principals should not ban dodgeball because dodgeball is as fun as a fair. The ban ruins the fun of life, and eliminates the wisdom and joys that comes from games.
Dodge the Ban of Dodge Ball Dododododododo nooooooooooo bing ¨right to the face¨ whistle! YOUR OUT! This game is Dodgeball you all know what that is. but get this recently New Hampshire at Elkton, Maryland principals are banning it from schools by taking it out of the curriculum. They say it is dangerous and against what they teach.
They just removed it from the physical education curriculum. I honestly think they should not ban dodgeball from this school. The players say NO! I think they should keep dodgeball because it is not boring like school it is fun and people want some excitement in school. Kid need some enjoyment in school it can't just be work work and more work.
Dodgeball should be banned from physical education. In dodgeball, it's set to be the weak vs. the strong typically. The article ‘’Position on Dodgeball..’’ states, ‘’Many times these students who are eliminated first are also the ones with the least amount of confidence
Youths should be banned from participating in sports such as dodge ball and cheerleading. Dodge ball should be banned in schools because stronger kids have an unfair advantage. Neil Williams, a professor of physical education at Eastern Connecticut State University states, “The game allows stronger kids to pick on and target the weaker kids”. (pg 171) .
Youths should not be banned from participating in sports such as dodgeball, cheerleading, and football. To begin with, dodgeball teaches physical and mental education. According to the text, ”Rick Hanetho, founder of National Amatuer Dodgeball Association said,” It teaches hand-eye coordination, concentration, and to draw quick conclusions” (171). This proves that youths shouldn’t be banned from dodgeball since it teaches them at a young age and it teaches mental and physical lessons. As for cheerleading, youths shouldn’t be banned because the coaches are trained and certified.
In Elkton Maryland a School Principals recently ban dodgeball because they state that dodgeball is inappropriate, unsafe, and some kids get out and don't play and don't get exercise. They removed it from all physical education curriculums. The principal in Elkton Maryland states that the game dodge ball is against all the thing they teach in school.
Principles had a meeting with the school board and the vote was 4 to 1 to remove the game. Dodgeball is not ok. Because if you're a kid that, maybe can't catch that great or your slow and you get out right away and sit on the sideline the whole rest of the period. That's not a good exercise. Also some kids try to get out on purpose!
I think that dodge ball should be banned because it is inappropriate, a human target game, and against what teachers are trying to teach about bullying. Dodge ball should be banned because kids are used as targets. Slamming balls into your classmate's face my be fun for you but it do hurt your classmate. The balls can leave stings that hurt. Some kids can’t catch
For decades, educational institutions have debated whether after school athletics should stay, or be stopped. Multiple studies have shown that cancelling school sports has had many benefits. Therefore, school athletics should be suspended to cut costs, get schools better graduation rates, and allow students to spend more time to focus on academics. Obviously sports are expensive, shutting them down would save a tremendous amount of money for schools.
