“Conquering the Freshman Fear of Failure” an article written by David L Kirp is a piece that illustrates the link between fear and doing bad in school. David Kirp writes about the psychological result of giving students an environment where they will set themselves up for failure. He tries to promote the scientific study where it mentions that intellect and genetics have very little correlation. Kirp believes when you put students in a discouraging environment and plant failure in their minds, nothing can be achieved. He grabs his audience’s attention by channelling into their sympathy and bringing credibility to his argument.

Mark Bradford is an artist who was born in Los Angeles, California in 1961. He received the BFA and the MFA at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia. Mark is an artist who uses materials found on the street and transforms it to wall-size collages. He’s basically a recycler who makes art out of the trash or items that people that throw out into the garbage. Mark’s background is seen as a third generation merchant there as it is by the tradition of abstract painting developed worldwide in the twentieth century.

As a junior I was selected to attend the UC Davis COSMOS program. COSMOS is a four-week summer program organize to give educational experience to determined students. I devoted myself at learning as much as I could from the program which developed confidence, maturity, and understanding in my personal life. Through this, I realize how the world itself is replete with many different obstacles, and it is not as black and white as people usually see it in high school. COSMOS gave me insight into the microbiology of bacterial diseases, but also gave me tools for my post-high school

1. After watching this video I learned that the first generation college students in the late 1960s struggled so much so we could be in this excellent program so we could succeed. Nobody should ever be neglected an education like those students. We have many opportunities as the result of their actions and sacrifices because they fought so that this program could be as successful as it is. If those courageous students would have not spoken up and fight for their rights I would have not been here right now.

Then, there are other times when we become the thought leader or the force driving that change. We have to look at our circumstances, we have to look at our lives, we have to look at the events surrounding us, and ask ourselves what will be our response? How can I take a proactive approach to this situation? For example, if there is someone seeking a job transition, they’re probably in a career right now doing the same thing they’ve been doing for quite a long time.

Howard University, one of the top best HBCUs in the nation. Although it is an HBCU, historically black college or university, it is one of the best culturally diverse institutions in the world. With people coming to this college from many places such as: Asia, Africa, India and even many of the Caribbean islands. All with goals in mind, to receive one of the top educations in the nation, graduate, and succeed in life. Howard University has a lot to offer from a variety of majors, to many division 1 sports programs.

Gandhi once said to be the change you want to see happening in our world. This quote means be a leader, and be the person who changes the lives of others in the world for the better. Moreover, you should stand up for what you believe in to help change the world, and to keep trying your best to fight for what is right. There were many positive leaders in the world who helped change our society for the better. For example, Alexander Hamilton, the first secretary of treasurer was one of these fine people.

Christopher Boone, the main character, has an intense form of autism known as Asperger’s Syndrome which immensely affects his social behaviors and ability to understand social cues. This is a personal challenge for not only Christopher but also those around him, especially his father. When Christopher was reunited with his father after temporarily being under arrest it is revealed to the readers that although Christopher is unable to understand complex emotion, he shares a special bond with his father. The action Christopher and his father engage may be described as an elongated high-five instead of hugging one another “Father wants to give me a hug, but I do not like hugging people, so we do this instead, and it means that he loves me.” This is also seen when Christopher becomes upset when Siobhan after she makes a joke in regards to Christopher

Upon beginning my first class at Walden University, it has been difficult to see myself getting through this 8-week course. Furthering my education has been something I have struggled to accomplish for the last 4 years. I almost decided to give up and continue being just a high school teacher. However, being a senior teacher that motivates my students to go above an beyond to reach their goal has pushed me to work hard and start a new journey. Though it is only the beginning of my journey, I can see graduation.

Over 32 schools watching your every single movement. Over 200 people watching whether or not you make a mistake and 5 judges grading you on precision and even creativity in some aspects. I would experience this almost every month during competition, but not until my 10th grade year. Right before high school my friend Oscar had convinced me to join JROTC and since I was planning on joining the service I thought it would be a good idea. The class had many after school teams such as rifle team, drill, and raiders.

The community and legacy of Baird Scholars is one that focuses on excelling and improving, not only oneself, but the entire community as a whole. Looking forwards, I feel I could greatly contribute to the Baird community. Throughout high school, I always took challenging or advanced classes in order to push myself, and to expand my knowledge. I also had many experiences both as a leader and a volunteer. My main experience in leadership was in the Tanque Verde Bible Club, a group started by a fellow student and carried on by a group of five leaders.

Being in the snow isn’t always fun. It is January 1, 1778 and I have been serving my term at Valley Forge. I have been very miserable which has made my experience here dreadful. I’ve finished my time as a soldier but I have the option to re-enlist or come back home.

In a society that embraces the advancement of scientific knowledge, my desire to contribute in the field of science is incredibly strong. Specifically, I am greatly interested in the micro-sciences, such as biochemistry and general chemistry. These academic programs focus on the building blocks of all living and nonliving material throughout the universe. This research offers me endless opportunities to make a positive difference.

Through December 1777 to June 1778, George Washington led the Continental Army through winter camp. The Continental Army was an army of Patriot soldiers who fought against Britain. The Patriots hated Britain for their taxes and laws. So they went off to war. There was just one problem, they did not know how bad the conditions were going to be.
