My Financial reasons for seeking the Cupp Scholarship are obvious, I need money. So, I'll tell you what you need to know about my financial predicament. I am the oldest of two children.

My family is still not financially secure and never saved any money to put towards my college education. Neither my mother, father, or stepmother are willing, nor able, to contribute to my college education at all. Unfortunately, I will be paying for college by myself. However, I am very grateful that the University of Tulsa has generously awarded enough money in scholarships to cover my tuition, but I am lacking funds to cover room and board. I am working hard to achieve my goal of moving out of my household to be in a stress-free environment for my four years of college.

I am incredibly grateful to have received this scholarship. I am currently on the way to graduate with my Early Childhood Education degree in the spring of 2018. It has been a bit of a rocky road for me in my college years; I support and live by myself, and the cost of paying my tuition has weighed heavily on my shoulders. Fast Forwarding to today, I realize the importance of life and how quickly something can go wrong. I now plan on attending college with the hopes of becoming even more inspired to help people everyday. I am not the only one embarking on this college adventure, but my brother is too. Furthermore, this scholarship would help benefit my family’s financial situation because my brother and I will both being starting our freshman year of college this fall.

I deserve this scholarship because I am committed to receiving a higher education. Sophomore and Junior year I didn’t take a study hall because I didn’t want to waste a single opportunity to learn more information. This year, my parents have already been paying $100 a semester for my duel credit classes as well as helping me pay for textbooks. Recently, my family has also had to pay for my nasal surgery. Scholarships are investments in students that can benefit from opportunities through which they can receive support, both financially and through connections that can enrich and supplement their academic careers. I have had the honor of receiving the Fred Hill Endowed Scholarship twice before and it provided me with the opportunity to meet Fred Hill as well as another recipient of the scholarship. Having the chance to discuss my future with both Mr. Hill and a peer was eye opening. It helped me reevaluate my own goals by listening to the experiences of others and hearing their feedback. Although a scholarship is generally valued for the financial service it supplies, in this case, I think that the social connection that I was able to have through this scholarship presented me with exclusive access to insights and experiences that allowed me to reconsider my own academic and career goals.
