George Washington was the first president of United States and held his post for two consecutive terms from 1789 to 1797. He was the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War and was also one of the four founding fathers of the United States of America. He was also the leader of the United States Constitution drafting commission which was put in place of the Articles of Confederation. Washington was selected as the president in both 1789 and 1792 election unanimously by the electoral college of the United States. Washington was a thorough disciplinarian and emphasized a lot on training. He charged with his troops against Indians in the west and in a time span of just ten months his troop had fought twenty battles and lost a third of the men, as put by Ellis “it was his unqualified success” in the war (Ellis p.38). Though Washington never got commissioned in British Army yet he had closely observed British military tactics this led him to gain keen insights into military strategy and strengths and weaknesses of the British Army and this proved as a decisive and invaluable resource during the Revolution. His plantations were only marginally profitable as they were constantly under attack from Indians. Keeping in view the imminent war with France due to deteriorating relations, in 1798 President Adams offered Washington a commission as the Lieutenant General and Commander-in-chief of the armies to be prepared in the event of a war with the French. He accepted the offer and served as a senior officer of the United States Army from 1798 until his death. There is a fascinating book called 1776 by David McCullough; which is his tenth Book he has written on the subject. In this endearing novel he describes several significant issues that George Washington had to overcome to secure his ultimate victory in 1783. The book also describes the first year of the American Revolution, especially the triumph of Boston and the failure at New York, and then discusses the lack of courage the men had while the war wore on, the morale of the troops and the successful attack on Trenton and how that saved the revolution. The author details the challenges of creating and maintaining an army and then developing and drilling the militia that will be disciplined in the field of battle. There were three major issues

A British general to an American hero, George Washington helped our founding fathers to build a free country. Washington commenced traditions and developed our country to a free democracy . George Washington grew up with his father, brother, and mother who he talked highly about in journal entries. Washington was trained and schooled by his father and brother and was destined to become a general. He originally went to America with British soldiers to be a commander and after became top commander for the rebels.

Cultivate people and harmony with all.” George Washington was bon February 22, 1732, to Augustine Washington and Mary Ball of Epping Forest, in Westmoreland County, Virginia. Augustine Washington was an ambitious man who acquired land and slaves. He married his first wife, Jane Butler and had three children, shortly after Jane died he went on to marry Mary Ball in 1731.
He started out as a representative in Virginia’s House of Burgesses, and then progressing to be a delegate in the first and second Continental Congress. He led the United States to declare independence from England and continued to lead until the United States gained independence. Everybody respected him as a leader and followed his example, he motivated many troops and his military experience helped shape how successful the army was. George Washington did not just stand behind the lines and tell troops where to go. Washington would be at the front of his troops leading his men.
George Washington’s military career started in 1752, as he was appointed by the Governor of Virginia as Major to the militia. Afterwards, he and his army struggled to conquer the upper Ohio Valley, fighting the French for it. He then led 300 men to Fort Duquesne to fight the French, and won the land. In 1758 Washington resigned his part in the militia. While he was away, he studied the tactics of the British military, so one day, if he so chose to return, that he would know a bit on how to defeat the soldiers.
