MILLERSBURG — Two brothers serving a 14-month prison sentence were free men, for the most part, after Holmes County Common Pleas Judge Robert Rinfret granted both judicial release Wednesday. In December, Dennis Carl Bevington, 55, and Gary Lee Bevington, 62, both of 833 Depot St., pleaded guilty in Holmes County Common Pleas Court to failure to provide for a functionally impaired person. In exchange for their pleas, the more serious charges of involuntary manslaughter were dismissed. They could have faced 11 years in prison. The charges stem from the Oct. 13, 2014, death of their 84-year-old mother, Delores Bevington. Dennis Bevington was represented by Mark Baserman Sr., and Gary Bevington was represented by Jeff Kellogg. About a month after …show more content…
(An autopsy done by the Stark County Coroner’s Office concluded her death was a homicide by virtue of neglect.) He spoke of how the brothers admitted knowing their mother was unable to take proper care of herself in the weeks immediately preceding her death. Delores Bevington lost the ability to get up and move and clean herself, and was confined to a couch, onto which the urine and feces from her decomposing adult diaper had spilled. The diaper also was filled with maggots and bugs and her thighs and buttocks were covered with open sores and one patch of blackened and rotting flesh, noting the evidence was so overwhelming it contradicts the claim they were unaware of the seriousness of her condition. As for why Knowling opposed Gary Bevington’s release and not Dennis Bevington’s, during sentencing he said he believed Dennis was truly remorseful, but was too weak to act. Gary, on the other hand, blamed everyone but himself. At the sentencing, Kellogg and Baserman Sr. said the men were helpless in caring for their mother because they thought they were bearing out her wishes, illustrated by a long history of refusing treatment and medication. At the hearing, Rinfret did not ask for any arguments from counsel, and he did not ask for any statements from the

Two Palm Springs police officers were both shot and killed while responding to a public disturbance. John Felix, a twenty 6 year old resident of Palm Springs was the convicted suspect of the shooting, and deaths of Jose Gilbert Vega, 63, and Lesley Zerebny. Both men were successful in their appeals as a verdict of guilty could not be settled upon as the case was based on improbabilities and circumstantial evidence that could not lead to a definite
MILLERSBURG — Despite a plea for leniency expressed by the victim, a Sugarcreek man was unable to overcome a long history of criminal convictions and a bond violation when a Holmes County judge on Wednesday sentenced him to prison for making unwanted phone calls and threats to several members of a family over a period of months. David Lamar Schrock, 43, of 2578 State Route 39, previously pleaded guilty in Holmes County Common Pleas Court to two counts of telephone harassment and one count of menacing by stalking. In exchange for his guilty plea, the state agreed to dismiss two additional counts of telephone harassment and three counts of menacing by stalking. The charges are made more serious because Schrock was convicted, in January 2016,

On November 20, 1973 hitch hiker Troy Leon Gregg was picked up by Fred Simmons and Bob Moore in Northern Florida. The next morning, Simmons and Moore were found in a ditch on the side of the highway with gunshot wounds in their heads. After information was relayed to the police by Dennis Weaver, who had traveled with the guys a short distance, Troy Gregg and traveling companion Floyd Allen were found in the stolen car just outside of Asheville, North Carolina (“Gregg v. Georgia (1976)”). After the police made Gregg sign a statement admitting to the murders of the two, he was tried in a bifurcated trial and found guilty of two counts of murder and armed robbery, thus deserving the death penalty.
Lessons are something that can be learned from just about anything in life. These life lessons can be learned from school, books, and even everyday experiences. Books, however, tend to give readers more relatable lessons which can be applied to everyday life. In Mississippi Trial 1955, Chris Crowe tries to teach his readers that racism is a learned behavior, the loss of innocence is able to strengthen character, and the ignorance of someone else can leave negative impacts on their peers and the world. The first theme Crowe tried to show us is that racism is a learned behavior.
I am writing to you to request a deviation on behalf of my client Philip Reynolds. The current plea offer is for Mr. Reynolds to plead guilty to DUI Impaired to the slightest degree, and under other terms to serve three days in prison. Based on my client’s background and the circumstances of this case, Philip is respectfully asking that the State amend its current plea offer and allow him to serve only one day in jail. Philip is a single father of three minor children. His wife abandoned the family in 2011.

On January 15th, 2018, the defendant, Mary Taylor, was accused of refusing to serve the plaintiff, Brianna Banks, at Mary’s Diner located in downtown Atlanta. Ms Banks, an African American woman, claimed that she walked into the diner, sat herself as customers were directed to do, and, after 20 minutes of waiting in the diner during what she described as a “slow time”, was not helped by Ms Taylor. Banks then proceeded to get up from her table, caused a loud altercation with the hostess at the diner, accusing the business of being racist and claiming that “if her skin was white, she would have been helped within seconds”, and then exited the establishment. After leaving the diner, Brianna Banks went home and did some research on Mary Taylor,
Did the district court have the jurisdiction to interfere in the city’s discretionary action? This court reverses the trial court’s judgment; the trial court has no jurisdiction to interfere in the lawful discretionary act of local public officials. The trial court has limited authority to implement its judgment over a discretionary act of the city officials, unless it reviews a crime or a violation of legal compliance. The trial court also does not have the authority to specify, how a local government will implement its discretionary actions.
Pamela Foddrill: Examining the Investigation Introduction The tragic abduction and death of Pamela Foddrill beginning on August 18th, 1995, relied on investigators from the Indiana State Police, FBI, multiple Greene County police agencies, and Greene County Prosecutors to arrest and convict the five individuals who committed this heinous act. Those who were arrested and eventually convicted for different criminal offenses are Roger Long, Jerry Russell Sr., John Redman, Wanda Hubbell, and Plynia Fowler.
