The book of Nehemiah describes the circumstances surrounding the rebuilding and dedication of the wall of Jerusalem. Nehemiah traveled 1,000 miles and rebuilt the Jerusalem wall in 52 days. This significantly portrays dedication and leadership. There are several values that Nehemiah exemplified for the people, as a leader. To start Nehemiah immediately began fasting and weeping to God. Nehemiah 1:4, “When I heard this, I sat down and wept. In fact, for days I mourned, fasted, and prayed to the God in heaven. Nehemiah had a heart and concern for his city. Nehemiah continued praying to God, Nehemiah 1:5-11. Nehemiah knew the Torah and quoted it back to God, he knew that God said if people where obedient God would bring his people back

Most of the laborers who were taken to build the wall lost their lives due to various reasons. A poem written by an unidentified author from the Han dynasty explains the life of the soldiers who were protection the Great Wall (document F). They would fight with the Xiongnu in the north or the wall, and sometimes everyone had to face starvation because of the inability to harvest food. This was caused by peasants forced to join the military in order to keep the wall safe and some dying in the battles with Xiongnu which caused scarcity of peasants (document F).
The Great Wall came with many losses like all of the deaths but have you ever wondered what hey went brought? The people who built the wall went through many harsh conditions like a starvation, loneliness, boredom, the weather conditions, weakness, falling from the heights documents F, E, B. You never really starve or get lonely or bored now days because we have so much and we have a lo more freedom than what the people back then had, you cant talk with friends or text, no face time, no electronics.
