How Did The Industrial Revolution Affect Society

Some other unfortunate events was the growth of the urban poor, children switched from working on farms or in homes to working in factories, brick yards, and coal mines. The jobs became much more difficult to do and more dangerous to work at. Workers were overworked, nearly starved, and beaten. “They were often “strapped” or beaten” (Doc 1).

People had many opportunities to work during this time. Before the Industrial Revolution children usually grew up and had the same profession as their parents because that’s what their parents taught them. Once the revolution started however, children were able to work in factories, as servants, on farms and etc. During this time, a lot of technology was created but jobs were also cut down. Machines like the spinning jenny were invented, which gave factories the option to cut down on their employees.

The homes lacked stability or any regard for sanitation, which lead to disease and harm to the dwellers. Document 11 describes the industrial towns as, “[unpaved streets], full of holes, filthy and strewn with refuse” and Document 10 elaborates by stating, “that the annual loss of life from filth and bad ventilation are greater than the loss from death or wounds in any wars”. The poor construction and sanitation stems from the need to quickly build the homes to quickly house the workers. Through urbanization, resulting from the Industrial Revolution, the towns became overpopulated at exhausting rates and only worsened the issues at hand. Had the industry not boomed so quickly, there would have been ample opportunity to ensure safe and clean living conditions, which in turn would have resulted in less death and disease to the

Urbanization was the clearest evidence of how terrible the outbreak of population in urban areas and the needs of workers were. They decided to use child labor and women labor since they were the cheaper working resources than grown men. This had led to the worst concern during the Industrial Revolution, which was the abuse of child labor in production. In document 10, a wealthy grown man was riding a car pulled by many children. This picture shows how children had to work to make the wealthy man wealthier.

The “American Revolution” and the arrival of the Europeans to the “New World” drastically changed the United States in a way like no other. These two historical events affected the lives of the Americans, Europeans, and Africans socially, economically, and politically. The introduction of the “New World” to the Europeans, in return, introduced new ideas and innovations to the rest of the world. After the “New World” became colonized, there were disagreements between the Colonists and the British government, which started off a histrionic moment in history known as the “American Revolution.” This revolution immensely changed the way the United States was controlled.

One of the negative factors regarding the Industrial Revolution in our society is child labor. Children were taken out of there homes to work in factories and farms.

The Industrial Revolution shaped the growing economy at the time in many positive and negative aspects. The Industrial Revolution took place during the late 1800’s and the early 1900’s and was considered to be the “New Industrial.” Many things were brought to the economy at the time due to this occurring; some in which being machinery, technology, production of goods, and even performance. The economy was not the only thing greatly affected by this revolution but the farmers, the working-class, and the middle-class were also affected to a deep extent.

By the early 1800’s America began transitioning from an agriculture based economy to industrial production. After Thomas Jefferson's’ Embargo Act of 1807 that cut off all exports from the United States, domestic production boomed. Americans were forced to depend solely on themselves, developing economic independence. Inventions such as Eli Whitney’s cotton gin and railroads lead to industrial production and textiles. By 1815 there were hundreds of textile mills, spurring the growth of the Lowell factory system.

The Industrial Revolution marked a turning point in history with mass amounts of changes creating everything we see to know,It all began in the 1750’s. In this time the beginning living and working conditions were for and the life of a worker changed drastically. Living and working conditions in the 1750’s were poor. “The streets are usually unpaved and filled with holes, filthy and strew with refuse” (Doc 3). With people living in the streets and turning a town into a city will have its flaws.

The Industrial Revolution witnessed the evolution of large urban centers, such as Boston and New York City. It changed society from agrarian to mechanical, which further moved jobs to larger cities. As every coin has two sides, there are negative sides to this. Primarily, it caused severe pollution. The environment condition was bad with smokes surrounding them.

In a matter of years, the country of England transformed from agricultural industries to factory industries. This transformation was a result of the Industrial Revolution, which began around 1800. The industrialization of England led England to become more powerful than other nations because of its advantage in industry. However, the Industrial Revolution had some negative impacts on the people of England. For one, cities with booming populations faced problems in providing healthy living conditions for laborers.

The Industrial Revolution, which occurred between around 1760 and 1820-1840, was a period of transition from hand production methods to machines, new chemical manufacturing and iron production processes, and the use of water and steam power. It led to unprecedented population growth and a rise in average income and population[2]. The growth of industries and factories in Great Britain led to urbanization, overcrowding, and poor living conditions in industrial towns[7]. In the short term, the poor living conditions in industrial towns led to the spread of diseases and illnesses[8]. However, the British government passed several laws and regulations aimed at improving the lives of people living in industrial towns.

In the late 1700 's and early 1800 's, power-driven machines replaced hand labor for making most manufactured items. Many of America 's factories needed a numerous amount of workers for a cheap salary. Because of this, the amount of child laborers have been growing rapidly over the early 1800s.

Child labor was a great problem in the Industrial Revolution. Factory owners usually hired women and children rather than men. They said that men expected higher wages, and they suspected that they were more likely to rebel against the company. Women and children were forced to work from six in the morning to seven at night, and this was when they were not so busy. They were forced to arrive on time and they couldn’t fall behind with their work because if they did they were whipped and punished.
