How Did War Occur In The 1940s

A war between two countries who perceive the world differently is one that ends with nothing but loss. Whether the loss involves money, resources, and or even innocent civilians, each country is affected. Like World War I, the involvement of the U.S was because of an attack. The bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941 steadily worsened the crumbling relationship they had with Japan. When the U.S dropped bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they seemed not to question the consequences of their actions.

In the early morning Japanese planes had flown out of the clouds and began sinking ships, either by raining fire on the soldiers, or flying their planes straight into the ships. By the end of the attack, 2,400 Americans were dead. The attack was unexpected and unnecessary. The sunken ships are still left at the bottom of the harbor, as a memorial to the soldiers who lost their lives to the tragic events of Pearl Harbor. President Harry S. Pearl Harbor is a United States naval base located in Hawaii that had served as a US outpost in the region of the Pacific. On December 7th, 1941, Japan led a surprise attack that resulted in a launching of 361 airplanes from six aircraft carriers. The Japanese destroyed five battleships, while damaging three battleships and two hundred airplanes. In response to this attack and the amount of American lives lost, President Franklin Roosevelt asks Congress for a declaration of war against Japan and Germany. This declaration gave the United States an initiation to the beginning of World War II.

In September of 1939, World War II had officially begun. Before the war started, Germany, lead by Adolf Hitler had begun to take over many other countries around Europe including Austria and Czechoslovakia while also allying themselves with other countries such as Russia and Japan(Sharpe 6). When Germany sought after Poland, Britain gave them un ultimatum to pull out of the country and when they did not do so Britain was at war. In December the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor which is when the United States declared war against the Japanese. Due to our close relations with the U.S at this time, it also created a huge hatred for the Japanese in Canada(Sharpe 8).

World War II took place between 1939 and 1945, the war was against Germany, Japan and Italy, meanwhile when the war was taken place, in America some Japanese Americans were victims of discrimination and racism. All this discrimination, and racism increased right after Pearl Harbor (1941) because the government started to suspect that some of these Japanese Americans will sympathize with the Japan attack and progressive they would start to support them. During this period, those Japanese people who used to live in America were victims of a bad treatment of discrimination. The Americans took their rights away, they cannot became citizens or own land, after this around 120,000 Japanese Americans moved to prison camps around the country. This Japanese-American internment was just the separate of Japanese people from American people.

On December 7, 1941, nearly twenty American ships and over 300 airplanes were destroyed, and about 2,500 men were tragically killed in addition to the 1,000 that were wounded. This was the outcome of over 350 Japanese fighter planes who bombed the American naval base at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii. On December 8 following the attack, Congress approved President Roosevelt’s declaration of war against Japan. Three days later, Germany and Italy declared war on the United States and America had officially entered the Second World War. Following the assault, Americans soon grew fearful that Japanese-Americans already living in the United States would help Japan with future surprise attacks.

In some way, all the countries were involved in this war. World War II started in Europe but, spread throughout the world. This war went on for six whole years. There were many deaths in this war and many people had to say goodbye to their beloved ones.

World War II was a major historical event that affected many peoples lives. When the War first started it was in the United States best interest not to be a part of it. Everyone remembered the effects of World War I and thought it was better to stay out of it. After a while the United States began to support their allies while they kept their people out of the combat zone. The United States view changed on December 7th, 1941, when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor.

We all know that United States won World War ll, but how did we win? World War ll was a gruesome war between the Nazi Party and the United States and many other countries. The war lasted from 1939 through 1945. United States was brought into the war when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. The way that the United states won the war was because our military is strong, we had good allies, and great leaders in office and on the battlefield.

In total over 2,400 were dead, and over 1,000 were injured in the onslaught; the attack also saw the destruction of eight battleships, three light cruisers and destroyers, and four other naval vessels (Civil Rights, Japanese Americans). With the Japanese

Whether it is the unfair ofTreaty of Versailles, world economic problem, the failure of League of Nations, the usurpation of power by some group of people, etc.

The casualties included over 2000 American soldiers and sailors. December 8th, the day of Roosevelt's speech, the President asked Congress to declare war on Japan. They approved the declaration with only one member of Congress voting against it. In the year 1941, most of the world had already been at war. America had been the only large nation that remained neutral.

The United States and Japan fought in World War II during 1941 to 1945. Japan planned to expand their land and gain resources- which led them to invade China whom was an ally of the U.S. In result, the United States cut off the supply of oil to Japan. On December 7th 1941, Japan’s air force did a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor because that is where their military base is located.

Another cause of World War II was Fascism. Since the World War I left the economy a mess, countries were being taken over by dictators, as these dictators looked for new lands to conquer.

On June 17 1940, The French signed an armistice and pulled out of World War 2, after being defeated by Hitler’s Nazi Germany which had conquered most of Western Europe in less than two months. But British Prime Minister Winston Churchill rallied his stubborn people, and out-manuovered those politicians who wanted to negotiate with Adolf Hitler. But Britain’s success in continuing the war very much depended on the RAF Fighter Command’s agility to thwart the Luftwaffe’s efforts to gain air superiority, This then would be the first all air battle in history.
