Youth Sports effect on young lives Youth sports can be a crucial part of developing kids life, not to mention their parents lives with all the driving, planning, organising, and the occasional drama from one soccer mom to another about how little timmy’s mom brought unhealthy snacks after the game. Youth sports have changed in many ways since I was little, now kids ,while dragging their family with them, are traveling across country for a game in a 8U league. Experts are always saying kids need to be more active, but to what extent some kids are spending their all their time playing these sports. But some aspects of sports have positives to them and some aspects are negative. Youth sports are affecting kids and their families’ lives in positive and negative ways. Youth sports are so needy when it comes to expenses, it was only just a few years ago that when someone joined a team the coach and the league supplied the equipment for the team. The coach would have a big bag and it had helmets, a couple of bats, …show more content…
Some are even willing to do whatever it takes to get there including drugs. Most high school football players lift weights to make them better at the game, but if they are lifting in a bad environment it could push some bad ideas on them. Many gyms sell protein powders, shakes ,and bars to help the members get the correct amount of protein they need. Some gyms even sell performance enhancing drugs secretly so the bodybuilders and football players can lift more. They sometimes even have online chat rooms that sell and teach children to use the drugs.(Source D)Even some professionals take these drugs to be better at the game, making kids think thats how to get where they wanna be.(Source D) Coaches have a big impact on the player's mind and what they choose to do. Some coaches don’t always have the player’s best intentions in mind and push drug use on them.(Source
It can have serious negative effects on the user's health, undermine the principles of fair competition, and have negative social and ethical consequences. Rather than resorting to drugs, athletes should focus on developing their skills through hard work, dedication, and proper training
Having their athletes workout at a young age every once in awhile isn’t that big of a deal, but everyday, that’s overdoing it! Young athletes generally have high spirits and big dreams, but having a coach who only criticizes them and never lifts them up can easily demoralize anyone 's dreams! Magic Johnson said this quote, “All young athletes need is a little hope, and someone who believes in them.” (Johnson) I agree with that 100%, because most coaches can’t see how their coaching tactics are tearing down their athletes instead of building them up because it’s never been brought to their attention. However, there was one situation where a coach was being overly aggressive towards the players on his team, and even after being told to stop he still didn’t change his
Players are taking the easy and fast way of getting to the top by using drug, but it is the wrong way. Athletes need to prove to their selves that working naturally can work if they dedicate themselves to it. Drug abuse is a serious matter and can destroy a human’s body, so as athletes or people that can help someone struggling need to take a stand against the use of
Kids will always be kids, and part of being a kid is being able to go outside, have fun and get hurt, but there is always a line that must not be crossed. Kids and teens are growing human beings and their bodies are very fragile. If parents can stop their kids from specializing in sports early the number of kid-related injuries can be greatly reduced. One reason kids shouldn’t specialize in youth sports until they’re in high school is due to the fact that they’re constricting their options and choices. Another reason why kids shouldn’t specialize in one sport is that it takes a toll on the kids’ growing bodies.
Playing sports in high school is a privilege. Using drugs is a violation of the athletic program that all students should follow. Students should be tested for all drugs in there system at any time. If they want to illegally make themselves better then that is their choice to make, and if they wish to ruin their
For years, the use of performance-enhancing drugs has haunted all levels of sport, baseball taking the majority of the publicity. Many have lost sight of the fact that baseball players are not the only athletes that face this life threatening addiction. Due to the amount of padding they have to wear, football players can easily disguise their size therefore keeping them from receiving scrutiny from the public. This has allowed more and more players to look to PEDs in order to gain an edge over their opponents. The issue spans to not only the professional level, but the high school and collegiate divisions as well. Because the National Football League sits on a higher platform, they bring in an exceptional amount of money compared to that
The article tries explain how an athlete can get PEDs for therapeutic use, it also explains the limitations of this process. It also tries to explain that the reasons that may sway athletes to take illegal PEDs are very complex, these factors range from peer pressure to misleading information on PEDs to many other factors. In addition, the article also examines the dangers of the use of PEDs from a health stand point and a professional stand point. This article I believe provides valuable information for my research as I am trying to formulate the many reasons why an athlete would use performance enhancing
Contact sports are the reason kids are getting hurt. Contact sports are good for kids. The Federal and state government should stop kids under 10 to stop playing contact sports because 45% of kids under 10 getting hurt are from contact sports and 5% of the time its ending that kids chances to play sports in the feature, Not to mention contact sports can also make kids go to their fullest and being burned out and although contact provide some kids will useful tools in life most of the time there is more negative than positive.
By allowing professional athletes to use drugs, what message are we sending out to young sports players and those who idolize their sporting heroes? Is the goal to inform them on how to cheat, or how to use your own muscle and blood to win? Performance-Enhancing drugs used by athletes can cause many health problems and create an unfair advantage to other athletes. Many of the performance enhancers used have serious health risk and allow the use of such substances could cause peer pressure to all athletes to consider using them. Athletes dreaming to improve their performance the easy way are often the first you see to start using substances; this places them at risk of the many consequences.
She found that Olympic athletes, in general, believed that most successful athletes were using banned substances.¨ There will be no reason to play the sport anymore if people cheat.thomas ¨H. Murray, PhD, President of the Hastings Center, in the chapter¨ "Sports Enhancement" ¨published in the 2008-2009 From Birth to Death and Bench to Clinic: The Hastings Center
Athletes use of performance enhancing drugs has become all too common in today’s society. With many athletes testing positive for doping, sports are becoming tarnished with athletes trying to gain an unfair advantage on their competitors. Although players are tested often for such drugs, there are still many loopholes and some drugs are not detected by current systems. So what would cause an athlete to put their body at risk to gain just a slight edge on their competitor? Sports should be a test of real skill, not artificial skills given by doctors.
Summary In “Children Need to Play, Not Compete,” Jessica Statsky tries to demonstrate the negative effect of organized sports on the physical and psychological health of growing child. She claims that the games are not festive but they end up in the wrong development of a child’s brain. The coaches and parents have high hopes for their children that result in the pressure building. This changes the purpose of sports from teaching tolerance, teamwork and sportsmanship to merely winning by all means.
Some professional athletes try to find loopholes and ways around illegal drug use to enhance their

“In the U.S., about 30 million children and teens participate in some form of organized sports, and more than 3.5 million injuries each year” claims Stanford Children’s Health. It’s definitely true that competitive sports can cause all sorts of injuries from big to small. The media teaches people simply that sports leads to horrific injuries and can cause stress, but what the mainstream media hardly discusses are the great benefits of competitive sports. While there may be some negatives to competitive sports, that’s just life, and to add on to that; there are plenty of benefits which are sure to override to media’s facts. Kids should play competitive sports because competitive sports teach children powerful life lessons, contributes to their social and mental stability, and because of the physical gain competitive sports provides.
