Industrial Revolution interchangeable parts
I am writing this essay to educate and talk about interchangeable parts and how they are involved in the Industrial Revolution timeline. The Industrial Revolution first started in great britain, but soon came to the united states in 1790. This revolution was a transfer from rural agricultural working into factories jobs. This caused cities and the population to boom, a step forward to now a day civilization. Through all that happened during the Industrial revolution one of the main parts was new inventions that could replace older or help modernize society in a way. One of the big inventions during this time period was interchangeable parts.
The invention of interchangeable parts was first thought up by Eli Whitney, who also invented the cotton gin. Which was was an important machine that separates cotton seeds from the cotton. He made interchangeable parts first for riffles, which at the time there was no regulations for machine maintenance. So he learned over the course of ten years, he finally got all problems and obstacles out of the way to perfect interchangeable parts. After some time he was actually able to make 15,000 riffles within 4 years. The government started to support interchangeable parts for weapons production, which helped us with many other things. Just the switch to interchangeable parts, that recommend the change to using simular to identical parts changed and made a big appearance in the industrial revolution. This helped lower cost of making fire arms and make the production time accelerate. It also helped with job openings because Eli Whitney made this with the intention to making assembly easy with no skills
The invention of the cotton gin transformed the growing and selling of cotton on a larger scale. Whitney also came up with the concept of interchangeable parts, which could be rapidly assembled into standardized finished products. Due to the war and the Embargo Act of 1807, ties with Great Britain were cut off. Thus, the United States’ industrialization was stimulated. More factories were built as efficient machines were invented.

This was one of the key inventions of the Industrial Revolution and shaped the economy of the south. Whitney's invention made upland short cotton into a profitable crop, which strengthened the economic foundation of slavery in the United States. Despite the social and economic impact of his invention, Whitney lost many profits in legal battles over patent infringement for the cotton gin. Thereafter, he turned his attention into securing contracts with the government in the manufacture of muskets for the newly formed United States Army.
Before Eli Whitney found out that he could make standardized parts for each gun, most people were making each piece specialized. Because they made the parts special for each and every gun this meant that if one gun had problems with a part then they would have to make another special part an disassemble the whole machine. That was just a huge waste of time and resources. Eli took up the task to produce guns for the government and was committed to make ten thousand in four years. With his new tactic he easily made those guns but was not able to deliver his product for ten years.
If a part broke or messed up, the musket had to be taken back to the original craftsman for a new part. There was a potential war with France at that moment, so the government started looking to private contractors to supply muskets. Whitney designed interchangeable parts. These parts were able to fit with any musket. He promised to have ten thousand rifles manufactured in a two years.
The First Industrial Revolution had such an enormous impact on the United States as a whole. One thing that it did was that it created new inventions. These inventions helped to make lives easier, more than anything. An example of an invention that was created in 1712, was the "steamboat." Also, the Industrial Revolution created never before seen technology, as well.
Farmers were transitioning from growing tobacco to growing cotton and having a difficult time. Mr. Whitney devised a machine that would make this task easier and more productive. The result was massive amounts of material produced for sale. Eli also created a way to combine interchangeable parts. This made the use of his product more consumer friendly.
Everythings was being done faster which, resulted in more products being made, there was more money, and it meet people's demands. Factories started becoming more popular during the Industrial Revolution. The factories caused goods to be produced faster, gave people jobs, and organized production. There were a lot of new technologies. Some of them are the steam engine, the spinning jenny, and the flying shuttle.
Eli Whitney was responsible for these, for example, the cotton gin. Whitney invented the cotton gin to make removing the seeds from cotton bolls faster. The main reason Whitney looked into his invention was because demand for cotton was growing so he wanted to find away to quicken work for the slaves in the South. The cotton gin led to big changes, England and North America demanded more cotton quicker to help expand their textile mills. Making production of cotton easier, the cotton gin turned cotton into a cash crop, making it more valuable in trade.

Production was relatively slow, as most factories employed skilled workers whom it took days or even weeks to make a single item, such as a shoe. In 1798, this changed forever. Eli Whitney helps develop the idea of interchangeable parts. This is where identical parts that could be swapped for each other were placed in machines. This almost completely replaced the practice of custom-making each part and product, and repairs were much easier.

The Assembly Line: Getting Things Moving It was once said by Henry Ford that, “there is one rule for the industrialist and that is: make the best quality goods possible at the lowest cost possible, paying the highest wages possible”. This quote is quite fitting for the man that invented the first moving assembly line; which allowed products to be created more efficiently and cheaper. The assembly line was a significantly important invention because it enhanced previous technology to create a positive impact in factory operation, improved the everyday lives of Americans, and inspired modern day inventions based on the assembly line.

Revolutions are a huge part in living. Over courses of time revolutions change the way countries work. They introduce new ideas and ways of doing things. It creates change and a new beginning for the people and society. Revolutions affect many aspects including businesses, the people, and the economy by making advancements.
