Influential Women In History: Susan B. Anthony

She proved that women can alter the course of political events, and she was very popular in the fight for equality because she had personal experience with slavery and talked about it in detail. She also showed people that limits on women's rights were also in the same system as slavery. She was very wealthy, which gave her an advantage over the people. Later, she kept fighting for women's rights and equality. This goes to show just how brave and determined she was.

Many women fought for this bill including Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucretia Mot, and Susan B. Anthony who began the first women 's rights movement in Seneca Falls, New York. There were various setbacks but after the Civil War ended they began to fight for their rights with new momentum. President Woodrow Wilson changed his mind after being sworn into office, and turned in favor of women 's right to vote and addressed the Senate in favor of suffrage. On May 21, 1919, republican James R Mann, a U.S. representative from Illinois who served as chairman of the Suffrage Committee, proposed the House resolution to approve the Susan Anthony Amendment. The bill passed with above the required two-thirds majority.

This is what makes her a hero. Susan B. Anthony was brave for standing up for what she believed in. Anthony and her followers tried to break down the barrier that prevented women from voting in the 1872 presidential election. Later, she went to the voting office and demanded she had as much right to vote as any man. She threatened to sue and the officials let her vote.

The 1800’s-1920’s was one of the amazing turning points in history. Women had no self-representation other than from their fathers and or husbands . This turning point helps with social rights that have led woman to be the woman they are today . Susan B Anthony (died in 1906) affected society by making it possible for women to actually be thought of as real people and to be able to play a role in the development in our nation . She was significant by; being a key figure in woman getting the right to vote , forming the National Woman Suffrage Association , and serving on the business committee and speaking on women’s rights .

This gave voting rights to all women over 21 years of age. Susan B. Anthony went to meetings and held conventions for women's rights. She made a stand for women's rights so they could have freedom to vote. Even though Anthony went to jail she continued to fight. She died in 1906 and in her memory, the U.S Mint released a coin with her face on it.

And not forgetting Susan B. Anthony, she is one of the women who helped fight for women's suffrage. And like I mentioned that

Susan B. Anthony was born into a Quaker family, with the hope that everyone would one day be treated equal. She denied a chance to speak at a temperance convention because she was a woman(Susan B. Anthony). From this point on, she knew that she needed to make a change. Susan B. Anthony, because of her intense work involving women 's’ rights, highly influenced all of the societies and beliefs that were yet to come. She employed a huge role in our history because of the fact that she advocated for women’s rights, for the integration of women in the workforce, and for the abolition of slavery.

Susan B Anthony was a women’s rights activist in the 1800’s who led to many of the rights women have today. Born into a Quaker family, Susan B Anthony was incredibly involved with the activist ways of life at a young age. After meeting Elizabeth Cady Stanton in 1852, she dedicated her life to women’s suffrage. Susan B Anthony’s actions led to many of the rights women have today. Her contributions include but are not limited to the right to vote, equal education opportunities, and women’s salary equality.

Susan Was inspired to fight for women’s rights at a young age. She developed a strong moral compass in her early life. She spent a lot of her time protesting slavery with her family. Her house was also the meeting place of well known abolitionists, such as Frederick Douglass, who fought against slavery. At a convention she was forbidden to speak because she was a woman.

She was brave didn’t let the people hurt her feelings or bother her. Her actions helped propel Civil Rights Movement throughout the country. They helped by stopping segregation throughout the schools in the U.S. Helped influence the racism to end in the south. Made some people

The women’s suffrage movement was a very difficult time for these women at the time. On June 20, 1908 is when the suffrage day happened and everyone was there including the women who wanted their right to vote. The women went through some difficulties to get their right to vote. Speeches were being given that day. Four years later a march happened.

Anthony was a prominent feminist author who started the movement of women’s suffrage and she was also the president of the National American Women Suffrage Association. Anthony was in favor of abolitionism as she was a fierce activist in the anti-slavery movement before the civil war. Susan Anthony was born on February 15, 1820, in Adams, Massachusetts, and before becoming a famous feminist figure, she worked as a teacher. Anthony grew up in a Quaker family that made her spend her time working on social causes. And her father was an owner of a local cotton mill.

She showed all African American women and men that they can achieve the impossible and have an intelligent mind like everyone else. Even African American poets from today like Alice Walker found her as an inspiration.
