´For Inigo Jones, this project was a crucial opportunity to demonstrate ‘his concept, totally new in England, of a monumental and ordered architecture based on antiquity and the Italian Renaissance, in the most sensitive context, and harness them to the expression of the grandeur of his monarch.´1 ´John Summerson has observed, for example, that the Banqueting House interior owes much to Palladio’s interpretation of a Vitruvian basilica, which had classical associations with the administration of justice (one of the functions of the king) as well as obvious later associations with Christianity; whilst the exterior is partly based on a Palladio study for a town …show more content…
These principles were the importance of the mathematical proportions rather than the ornamental decoration. Functionality is an important factor without disregarding harmonic proportions and elegance based on simplicity. However, Jones style pursued the aesthetic of the facade without applying the mathematical proportions for the layout of the rooms. It is important to underline his innovative ceiling designs (always following Palladian models) and plasterworks. Jones's first ceilings were examples of what became a new style realized in three dimensions (see Banqueting House ceiling Picture). It is important to underline his innovative ceiling designs (always following Palladian models) and plasterworks. Jones's first ceilings were examples of what became a new style realized in three dimensions (see Banqueting House ceiling image). We can conclude that the reason for the importance of the Banqueting House lies in the fact that marked a break with contemporary fashions. Being functionality one of his rules, today's designers would definitely apply a code like this and follow Jones´s style. Not to forget that design is the expression of a definite purpose following canons and rules of functionality and aesthetics or beauty. Meaning this that Inigo Jones was a laudable designer and we have to be proud of his bequest, which supposed a great contribution to art, design

Two very important historic buildings from the Greek and Roman civilizations, namely the Parthenon and the Pantheon respectively, are worthy of academic exploration. An analysis of their function and style will help to put their design and features into perspective, and create a better appreciation for their emulation in Western civilization. These buildings possess very unique individual characteristic designs, which bears testimony to the societies from which they originate. However, they are also a resourceful database of knowledge in terms of their symbolism, rich heritage of their era and application to the present civilization.
There are also other styles of homes, obviously, but these are the heavily
The world of design was being shaped around him, despite Milton not liking how it was coming to shape. God Inspired Learning In the prelude to An Autobiography, Wright recounted a lesson from his Uncle John on the Lloyd-Jones' farm during a walk on a light blanket of snow over sloping fields, gleaming in the early morning sun-shine. With his uncle walking hand-in-hand with the boy in a straight-line, the purpose of the walk together was to demonstrate by looking back on their footprints in the snow the importance of staying on the straight and narrow always obeying the righteousness of God's will. Breaking loose from his uncle's grip, Wright had different ideas, zigzagging back and forth across his uncle's prints in the snow collecting flowers, weeds and hay into his arms. Finally upon re-joining his uncle at the top of the hill the lesson would come − the Way of the Lord is straight, neither to the

From the content of books to the songs on the radio, art serves to provide a reflection of the world. Behind every design, there are great chains connecting the art to the artist to the artist 's inspirations and so on as far as the eye can see. In Jonathan Lethem 's The Ecstasy of Influence: A Plagiarism, he emphasizes these unseen connections. "My search had led me from a movie, to a book, to a play, to a website, and back to a book." In order to express the upper classes’ distinctive behaviour, Nicholas Cooper seeks to define how more prestigious individuals explicitly display their manners in the context of their own homes to explicitly reveal their rank in the greater society. On the basis of interpreting other literature and accounts, Cooper found that the way how early modern period houses were laid out and furnished, appeared to reflect the status of the influential because of the prestigious’ desire to be known for their social prominence. Cooper concluded that architectural expression has evolved from being an ideological force to becoming the “rules” of behaviour in which guided the way the affluent were supposed to behave. Walter Gropius (Fig.1) was a German architect and the founder of Bauhaus; a German art school operated from 1919 to 1933 in Weimar. The institute was famous for the approach to design under the idea of creating a ‘total work of art’ in which all artistic medias, including architecture, fine art, industrial design, graphic design, typography and interior design would be combined. This style later became one of the most influential ideals in modern design. Gropius decided to leave Germany in 1934 and migrated to the United States, where he would build his own house with the principles he taught at the Bauhaus school, introducing the international, modernism style to America. The house resides on 68 Baker Bridge Rd Lincoln, MA 01773, USA.
