Rotation one was a morning shift, I got to experience how the Phlebotomist do morning draws. They all go to different departments. We drew some timed draws, I saw some patients that were not able to identify themselves therefore; we had to look at their wrist band and match the labels to make sure we drew the correct person. The morning draws are usually for all patients, some of the patients were still sleeping; we had to knock and wake them up. Most of the patients where elderly, I liked how the Phlebotomist asked the patients if they needed anything before leaving their room; I thought this was kind of him.

I am extremely dedicated and serious about my career. Working in this facility would be one of the best things that have ever occurred in my life. One day, I aspire to own a facility similar to yours, and I believe that this is a fantastic way to prepare me for my future. The combination of characteristics that defines who we are and what we are as a person based on how we think and behave is known as personality. There are different ways psychologists can study different traits and type of personality; personality types involve qualitative behavioral differences between people, whereas personality traits comprises of quantitative differences. Myers-Brig Indicator Type Inventory (MBTI) is directly related to personality types as it reveals different personality types from a set of four personalities: extroversion versus introversion, thinking versus feeling, sensing versus intuition, and perceiving versus judging. Another test, The Big Five Inventory (BFI), is more inclined towards different personality traits including openness, conscientiousness, agreeableness, extraversion, and emotion stability. It explains that there is a gradient leading from one type of personality to the other.

I was highly impressed by the overall teamwork in the emergency department. It has a sense of organized chaos that would have taken me some time to adjust to. My nurse and I ended up going through a large group of patient during the time I was there. The nurse has this uniformity to how she would get her tasks done. The thing that through me off was the amount of stuff got done with our patients by other people.

Since a child I was always held responsible for attending doctor 's appointments with my parents due to their language barrier. Surprisingly, I never felt that responsibility as a burden because hospitals intrigued me. The polar emotions of safety and fear simultaneously, fascinated me. With this awareness when I began taking science courses at North Shore Community College, I found that the subject also fascinated me. The components of liking the hospital and material, had led me to the realization that I had a calling for the medical field.

Later, a nurse or a medical assistant calls the patient for the examination. Usually the patient is weighed by the nurse or the assistant, and might be requested for a urine sample (if required), blood pressure check, and temperature. The scale is often located at the nurse section but vital signs are taken in the examiner room and this is where the patient is inquired about the reason of the visit. The patient might be asked also about any changes in his / her chronic condition or about any new taken medications.

My impression of the Nursing Resource Center is that it is an awesome place for students to learn during clinical. The task trainers and the high- fidelity simulations provides students the opportunity to practice cognitive dynamics of real scenarios. This gives the students an opportunity to make mistakes and better themselves. As a student, the resources available to me within the lab throughout the rest of my nursing education will be very beneficial. Resources such as the faculty, educators, and the simulation models will help students enhance care for future patients, learn how to maneuver during simulates scenarios, and receive the maximum help possible.

During my course with NSCC, where I am studying to become a Continuing Care Assistant. Each student is required to work in a continuing care facility alongside other health care providers for a month. I attended skills development placement at Harbour View Lodge located in Sheet Harbour. This placement has given me the opportunity to apply my knowledge, and skills that I have studied and practiced in the classroom. When entering the facility the first week I felt nervous and excited at the same time.

When arriving, we all gathered in a room to have breakfast and meet the coordinators. We all then went to our stations, got orientated with our station and waited for our first patients to arrive. Since I am not a registered nurse (RN), we had an RN at our station as well. As patients asked questions, we answered them as best we could and looked at the RN for verification purposes. Fourth week of coop was good. I got more comfortable with the working environment. I got to know more about the stuffs. I have learnt to how to print the medications review for each patients. I got the experience of how to answer patients phone calls and put on hold.
