This article is related to Unit 1 lecture on Ethics and Values taught by Mrs. Townes. To provide optimal care for individuals of different religious cultures, practices and beliefs nurses must be skilled in identifying best practices when caring for patients. Understanding a patient’s religious beliefs and values will determine if that patient receives efficient and standard care based on their own beliefs. Buddhist may deny certain medication based on the make-up or components of the medication and whether medications will alter their normal state of mind. The best care for a patient of Buddhist ethnicity is to provide them with a calm environment that will allow patients to meditate, practice relaxation techniques, and chanting rituals.

Cultural competency can be described as the ability to interact with different cultures in a positive manner. Many cultural differences can become apparent in a number of situations. According to Fadiman, doctors have a moral duty to save lives even if they don’t agree with the values or beliefs of someone else’s culture (1997). This paper will address the topic of cultural competency, with a concentration on the importance of cultural competency in the medical field. It is hard to imagine how frustrating it may be to come across a patient that resists a professional’s opinion because they have solid beliefs or do not understand what doctors are attempting to convey.

Holocaust Memorial Center The first thing I thought when I heard the class had to go to the Holocaust museum was that it was in the suburbs of Detroit and this would be a very long a drive but even driving up the building itself speaks to the sad moment in our human history. The Holocaust Center located in Farmington Hills, Michigan is one of the best galleries concentrated on the unpleasant Nazi showing off a country 's brutality to people. It catches the obliteration of a large number of men, women, and children and most of them where not even Jews. This Jewish holocaust showcase hall is tremendously beneficial.

The JFK Library and Museum in Boston on scenic Columbia Point, is an ode to one of the most charismatic presidents the United States has ever seen, John F. Kennedy. Most of the exhibits consist of items donated to the museum by his wife, Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis, and the location itself was chosen by Jackie. The JFK museum represents a rare time of bipartisan cooperation in American history, and the untimely death of a great American leader. Response paper #1 Recently I took a tour of the James E. Lewis Museum of art located in Baltimore, MD. This museum is a part of Morgan State University fine arts building. As I walked into the museum I notice the beautiful entrance that consist of sculptures of very important people in history. Most importantly having the museum as such make many African-American feels closer or connective for America because of it clear message that this is truly their home. In addition, the museum is a public institution that open to everybody, it stands as an example of welcoming everyone to participate, collaborates, and learn about their history. it is very important to people because of it, of course, invest in history. For example, since its opening on September 24, 2016, the museum has "collected the more than 36,000 artifacts" (5). Not only that the museum is a collective institution but the donors whom to help build the museum come from all different backgrounds: nearly 1 40,000 individuals have become charter members of the museum (5).

The Holocaust was a indeed a big depression for all Jews. Many people had the courage to help throughout this horrific experience, although some did not succeed with their process, there are many people and organizations that brought Jews freedom. This is an important cause because as badly as Jews wanted and needed help, a lot of them got it. Resistance efforts that were that happened during the Holocaust are significant in many ways and saved many lives, for those reasons the people that helped should be given great appreciation. Not only did the Americans lead Jews to freedom but there are people who already had that idea in mind beforehand.
