Rusty Crowder Period 2 Quarter 2 Commentary #1 The Long Walk by Stephen King Pages 1-25 (Chapter 1) The story starts off with the main character, Raymond Davis Garraty. He is a 16-year-old boy from Maine. The only one competing from Maine, where the long walk takes place, and is supported by big crowds of people.

Truett Cathy was a very humble man. He remembers to praise God for the advances he makes, and he tries to keep his business simple and friendly. In chapter 1, he speaks on the fact that he wasn’t the Straight A student in school, but that’s not what makes a successful person. He reminds us that common sense and hard work are what makes a person successful and able to accomplish their goals. He recalls his first opportunity, being the Chick-fil-A Sandwich, as a simple concept.

As well in this novel the author, Si, helps the reader to realize the power of laughter and faith in times of struggles as well as many other important life lessons.

In this week's reading of The Whole Message of the Bible in 16 Words by Chris Bruno, we were assigned to read the first two sections, the foundation and the frame. In the first section of his book, Bruno talks about the foundation of the Bible in two key words: The End and God. In the second section, he talks about the frame: creation, covenant, and kingdom. The first section of the book, Bruno focuses on the foundation on which the entire Bible is built: The End and God.

Throughout the book, those people begin to lose faith in those things that had helped keep them alive: their faith, their loved ones, and themselves. Often, we find ourselves facing events in our lives that force us to redefine ourselves. Such circumstances try to break the heart of the human nature in us. It is at that time, the humanity in us either shatters apart, or it transforms into a strong bundle of compassion.
