There are a lot of qualities to make someone a good friend; just by simple things. I am going to refer making someone a good friend to the book Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick, there are a lot of good qualities of a good friendship in this book. First is how Max and Freak are there for each other always no matter what situation. An example of this act of friendship is on page (131 chapter 20), “Freak is pointing the squirt gun right in his face and he says, “Guess what I got for Christmas, Mr.Kane? Guess right, because your life depends on it.’”
In the book Freak the Mighty, we see friendship when Max goes out in the middle of the night on a quest, disobeying his grandparents, just because he trusts Kevin. When Freak tells Max about the treasure in the storm drain, Max asks Freaks "Treasure
After the death of his beloved uncle, young Max faces the hardships in a way that he becomes “a teenager with hard hands, blackened eyes, and a sore tooth” (188). The loss is too much for him to handle and it begins to build up in the depths of his heart. It continues to build until he is on his way to the basement and Death notices “the smell-no, the stench— of guilt” (159) seeping from Max on the train. Max is, without a doubt, emotionally tormented by the idea of leaving behind his family to find his own safety. However, through his strengthening in the basement, he begins to shape his torment into something that brings joy to others.
Despite his small size, Freak demonstrates this by helping Max, who had the splitting image of the murderer, Killer Kane. Many people feared Max, including his grandparents, and they tended to distance themselves from him. Kids at school called Max names like Mad Max or Maxi Pad, continuously making fun of his “no brain” head. As a result, Max never had a friend, at least until Freak came along and reached out to him in his lonely world to bring a light of possibilities to his life. Starting from the escape of Tony D., Freak saved Max, as he says, “..because they never knew it was Freak who rescued me”(Freak the Mighty, pg.41).
So freak starts whistling and the police come and start chasing Blade and his gang. Therefore, Max and Freak were being attacked by Blade and his gang. Without Freak, Max might of never gotten out
Friendship Friendship is a hard thing to find, but what can be even more difficult is finding someone who you can share a genuine friendship unconditionally. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is very heartbreaking and grievous novel that has many devastating aspects. Throughout the story, Lennie and George portray the many accurate qualities of true friendship. I have had one friendship in my life that I can more than confidently say was authentic. This friend shows her loyalty, honesty, and selflessness constantly, similar to George and Lennie.
During the Vietnam war soldiers took many sacrifices, including leaving their families and being outkast’s in society. But during the war they made really good friendships. The Vietnam war made people lose their lives, friends, and families. Many people didn 't support the war so they protested, and when the soldiers came back from war they were treated like outcasts. In the novel “The Things They Carried,” by Tim O’Brien, the book shows the themes friendship and sacrifice through key details like when someone dies they still remain friends even though they had a sacrifice.
Max believed that even a fool like him knew Killer Kane was unstoppable, but he persisted in his rescue attempts anyway. He ended up saving Lorreta by distracting Kane so she could recover. Both are clear examples of Max’s
The bullying in Freak the mighty is very similar to everyday bullying. I believe bullying can make kids stronger to stand up to the bullies. Like shown in freak the Mighty. The bullying Freak and Max experienced makes them more understanding of each other , Stronger as friends, and also more courageous.
Steinbeck in his novel, “Of Mice and Men”, employs a strong friendship outline. The four main characters, George, Lennie, Candy, and Crooks’ are involved in different types of friendship situations. Every character has his own personality, these personalities were mainly formed by their friendship status, throughout the novel, as a characters friendship status changes, his traits tend to change as well. Every character has a dream they want to achieve; and most characters share their dream with other characters. It is said to be The American Dream, which was not achievable back in the early 90’s, it was called The Great Depression.
Jews were being put in Concentration camps, but because of his knowledge he goes into hiding at the home of the Huberman’s. The book describes him as an introvert because in the book it states, “He was the type of person who worked quietly away for very little reward. He kept to himself...”(Zusak 188). Max has positive solutions that he wants to fulfill in a negative way. We can can determine this because Zusak expressed in his writing, “Punches are thrown, the crowd
In John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men, the era of the Great Depression in the 1930’s is revealed through a simple story of ranch workers who hope to improve their lives. Migrant workers, George and Lennie, have a friendship that is based on trust and protection. The other workers lack the companionship and bond that these two men have. In the novel, the absence and presence of friendship is the motivation for the characters’ actions.
Title Friendship is complicated and can come in many shapes and forms, but it is most commonly defined as a bond between two people. Readers can see these different examples in the book, Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck. In this book, George and Lennie are migrant workers during the Great Depression. Lennie is not like most and has the mind of a child due to a learning disability; however, this doesn’t stop George from taking Lennie under his wing which is uncommon for this time. Seeing George and Lennie go through their ups and downs makes it evident that the novel’s theme is friendship.
Friendship “A best friend is someone who you can talk to, who won’t judge you, loves you for you, and most of all, makes you feel like you are worth something.” Even though this is written by an anonymous person, it is still extremely empowering. During the novel Freak the Mighty, Max and Kevin demonstrated a strong friendship. In fact, when they accepted each other without judgment and made each other feel like they belonged, their friendship grows. Friendship is important because having a good friend can get you through rough and frustrating times.
the basement in Grim and Gram’s home is the down under. The basement isn’t well taken care of so the carpet smells like low tide. Meaning that it smells fishy. Then the “walls” that Gram glued in (To cover up the cement walls in the basement) are falling around and the boards to the walls are sloppily glued. This gives the reader the impression that the down under is a shabby place, but Max doesn’t complain.
