I found student essay number two to be more free of error than student essay one was. Even though it had less issues in it, it still was not perfect as it is very hard for anyone regardless of academic status to write without error. The three main problems that I found in this essay were spelling, usage, and formatting. Spelling was an issue for the writer of this paper in a few different instances. The errors were small, and I did not find any huge glaring issues, but nonetheless, they were still issues.

Whilst creating the prose, I practised my adjectives, adverbs, etc. to develop the complexity of my writing. After spending a considerable amount of time editing this piece, I received an A/A+ overall, which made me feel blissful. Writing has been around for centuries; writing gives us the ability to say what we want others to know by merely using words. Throughout history many styles of writing have been developed and different styles can make the reader feel excited, scared, sad and or even left hanging onto the edge of their seat. Everyone has their own style of writing; from the touching scripts written by William Shakespeare. To Plato the great ancient philosopher in Greece who founded the Academy of Athens. These are just some examples of how writing has impacted us and why it is so important.

The literary arts was never something that drew my interest. I always felt that reading and writing was more of a function, than it was a recreation and as such brought no special pleasure. During the years in which I was in school many assignments were completed at the behest of my subconscious. Though I regularly produced a work product that was sufficiently proficient, it was without any flare. One thing that would add to my frustration was what at the time appeared to be a frivolous topic to write about.

Without support and acknowledgement it is relatively hard for growth to take place. When a young developing mind has questions that go unanswered it is very hard for them to want to ask questions as they mature. From a young age I disliked writing. To this day I despise the task. I remember always asking “why is writing necessary and useful to me?” and regularly receiving the answer “because you must”.

I have personally always disliked writing, especially an assignment like this one that is so creative and open to one 's own ideas. They cause me a lot of stress. I like to be given a topic or specific writing instructions when it comes to writing an essay. I like structure, facts, and ideas that I can use, or maybe it’s because I don’t like writing about myself.

The Tragedy and Joy of Writing We must all go through some type of writing experience. Some experiences are harmful and tragic, while others offer a sense of joy and pride. Further ones are a formulated acquired skill or a beautiful and eloquent form of art. The process of our perception into what we write and convey is confounding because each person perceives it differently that the next. Writing for me is often a tedious and strenuous task, but I have found a way to silently express my emotions.

I have always enjoyed reading and writing, however, writing, never came so naturally for me. It has been ten years since my last English, or writing class. The extent of my writing today is limited to emails between co-workers, or simply texting on my cellphone. In the military you are trained to get straight to the point. Stop and think before you speak, and when it comes to writing, whether memos or emails, the same applies but the goal is to get to the point to obtain a quick straight forward response.

This semester, in English Composition 101, I feel that I have gained valuable tools to assist in producing a quality, sound essay. The different styles of readings introduced the class to the various ways in which a writer can express themselves and the best techniques to reach the target audience. Although I have always been comfortable with writing, I sometimes lack confidence in my writing ability, which is why I feel like the most influential aspect of the course was the feedback from my professor and classmates. Initially, I didn't realize the benefits that the peer review would provide, however, once the first peer review was completed it became apparent to me that there was much to value about the process.
