The Economy Opportunity Act was used to manage a variety of community based programs The OEO Act was never put in place to deal with poverty through raising welfare payments or guaranteeing certain wages. But instead help the poor to obtain a good education, on the job training. This Economic Opportunity Act along with other programs such as the Job Corp, Project Head Start, and Youth Corps were the most important programs designed to help assist poor people. This act is still providing assistance through the Job Corp in which many young adults are joining to get training for specific jobs. Because of the Act there is also assistance with Adult Basic Education which provides grants to state agencies for programs constructed for people who are 18 years or older to assist with reading and writing skills for employment. In order to improve this program congress and government agencies should be more involved to assist the programs needed for education. Congress should also ensure every child and adult have opportunities to achieve full economic and social potential as a nation. Training and education opportunities should not be minimized and the opportunity to work in job area in which people have the trained experience
All of these things that Rebecca Nurse has done shows the good decisions she has made, as well as her love for the children. Just like Rebecca Nurse, i have made good decisions in my life that played a role in who i am today. One of those choices would be helping my mom
She realizes that it isn 't that her sister doesn 't care about her son. It 's that she 's making an enormous sacrifice for what she believes in, to
Family/pg. 442: two or more people who consider themselves related by blood, marriage, or adoption. The video showed how in Libby, Montana family is the number one priority. One of the men interviewed in the video, Les with asbestosis, showed a great example of this.
Jane may also be affected by nightmares, may psychologically distrust men in uniforms, become an activist against guns to an extreme compared to someone else. In some cases, perhaps Jane’s healthier disposition about her experience during her senior year at Kent State could currently be in a dormant/avoidance state. It makes you wonder if she has or had a college-aged child and they decided to live on campus while away at school, would the aftermath of the Kent State Shootings cause Jane to become deeply affected and possibly need psychological counseling, would she become overly anxious because of her experiences? Since Jane’s background is in art, if she finds herself in the depths of distress, perhaps ways in which she might find healing would be to use her creative abilities with drawings, paintings, etc. to express her pain, release its energy, or the hold it may have on her. This in turn would allow her to talk about it within the context of her
For example, when his performance in school was poor she would notice. When she noticed he was singing along to a song he had just hear two days ago, Joy told him you are not learning the work because you can’t it is because “you are just not working hard enough,” (Wes 76). His mother was constantly watching over his actions in order make sure her son was growing up to be a successful person. In addition, his grandparents watched over him. They used the money they saved to visit their family in Jamaica and helped their daughter, Joy, send him to Valley Forge Military School, where his life changed.
This made me question my beliefs because I would never look down on my mother just because she is poor. Jeannette’s mom was always their for her and never just left like her father
After watching the video I felt very emotional and inspired by Susan’s work and passion about helping and serving women who were released from prison. I discovered how easy it is for people who have been released from prison to return to prison due to the lack of support and resources some people are able to receive. The fact the people who have drug or narcotic felonies are not able to receive food stamps or low-income housing stood out to me. This stood out because this rule is one factor of how people who have previously been incarcerated return back to prison. It surprised me how much a family member incarcerated effects a family and the impact it has on relationships.
She got a good job that offered her insurance and when her daughter became pregnant she was going to give her what she never had but then her daughter had went into labor a month early having problems. Leading to a difficult labor but was different because she was surrounded by family unlike her mother who was alone. The young girl now a grandmother has grown into a better life for her and her
Shelter, supplies, and adequate clothing were seriously lacked. When the congress passed the Economy Opportunity Act many great opportunities opened up to the American people. “The EOC compromised a number of agencies and programs, including head start, Volunteers in Service to America, work training programs, and Job Corps.” All programs helped the people in need by helping them financially and giving an advantage for education.
One of the easiest ways to accomplish that is through a personal story she tells about her son, because it easily grabs the attention of the reader. Not every choice in life is an easy choice. Many times we have to do things that we are
As you know, education is required and essential to the United States society. Currently in the U.S, education is becoming less appreciated by adolescents and the younger generation because they do not realize the importance of having educational opportunities. They may not
(Warren 16 – 17) and worry about her figure, (at least at her young age). That being said, the mother can act whoever she wants but, as long as she gives a good example and becomes a positive influence onto Jane’s life, there’s nothing wrong with it. Why is the fathers’ money
My attention was caught in education spending which will expand over $4.4 billion in casino revenues for Education trust funds, to have an education is very important for many people. Education is key to our future too. The audience would be the parents and students of the school and the principle. Parents want their kids to have better classrooms and want for their children to have a great school year. The problem I am trying to address is that K-12 educations and improvements are required because students will enjoy being in school if they have better classrooms and get the proper learning they need.
Furthermore, I feel she could have tried harder to find extra care to provide the family with more support, and she could have found insurance such as Medicare to help Mr. Kirby and his family afford extra care. She stated what was available to help Mr. Kirby, but never put anything in
Education is vital to one’s life and well-being, however since education isn’t free so many kids around the world can’t take advantage of it simply because of their economic status. When people become educated, it allows them to develop different perspectives and would not only see an improvement in their life, but in society as a whole. There’s no doubt that education is the most important thing to enhance the lives of individuals. Without it, kids aren’t able to reach their full potential, causing citizens to experience major issues in life such as a low standard of living, ignorance, and among other things. Education should be free for everyone, regardless of their economic background, because every individual is important and should have the equal opportunity to better themselves.
