World War II, the second war Hitler was vanquished in but different battles. WWII Hitler decided to kill off all Jewish people, he wanted to wipe out their whole existence. But from all of this destruction came forth a man who was to tell their story, a boy who lost everything to a man who wanted Jewish people dead. Elie Wiesel, was the boy that was there from the start of this war against genocide. Elie have consequently written the book “Night” which tells his tale of the war moreover his survival.

The title of my book is Sacred Hoops. The author of Sacred Hoops is Phil Jackson. Sacred Hoops is told through the eyes of Phil Jackson who is one of the most successful and greatest coaches of all time. This book is an inside look at the higher wisdom of teamwork. It shows that basketball is not all about basketball, and seen more through the spiritual side of it.

The book that i read was “HEAT” by Mike Lupica. This book was basically about a 12 year old baseball player trying to make it big to the pros. I really like this book but it’s not the best book i ever read. 1-10 i rate this book a 8.

The book “Night” was good because of the background story and how real it all was. “Night” was from a real person who lived through the pain and the heartache and all that went on. The background story was amazing because you knew it was real and not made up. The realization that the Jews went through all of the pain and anguish that happened in the camp is sometimes unbelievable.

Night was definitely a worthwhile read. I think that the biggest take away for me, was all that I learned from it. Before reading this story I already a general amount of information from World War II but reading a personal biography life story really helped me understand was just the details and extreme extent of everything that happened. Reading through someone’s personal story gives you a deeper understanding and a more thorough perspective on the real events that happened. I think that Night re-enforces what a lot of people already know, but it makes you feel more connected to the brutality of our world's history.

Another strong point was how well Kidd developed the characters. It was hard not to feel a sort of attachment to the characters and feel what they were going through as they came to life throughout the story. A shortcoming of the book was that I believe there was too much time spent on non-important events. A large chunk of the novel was spent on Sarah Grimke’s childhood and her love life, which weren’t necessary components of the book. The last section of the book talking about Sarah and Angelina’s journey speaking about abolition and women's rights was very vague while it was perhaps the most important part of the characters lives and of

There was not quite enough descriptive adjectives used to describe the characters in the novel and often left the reader feeling left out or confused. In this quote “Before they got into their parents’ cars, Sam and Coop asked ben if he wanted them to come over once they got out of their gear. ”(p 103) there is little to no emotion given from the characters Sam and Coop even though they just lost their important football game it leaves the reader feeling like they didn’t care instead of being disappointed which they were a few paragraphs before. The main protagonist Ben is described as being 11 years old short and respectful but the cognitive process of the child is matched to one of an adult. In the Main conflict Ben helps Shawn become a better quarterback despite wanting to be the starting quarterback and this is often quite unrealistic because at that age most kids are more worried and focused on themselves and would rarely go the extra mile for others while at the same time giving himself a disadvantage.

Another thing I really liked was the way they made the family characters of mom, dad, and Scott. But my favorite thing was the way that they developed Nick’s basketball skill throughout the story. There is a part in the story where somebody is shot by Zack (Trent’s brother) and Trent has to decide if he’s gonna go into running with him or stay for the big championship game with Nick. So I really enjoyed that part because it combined how much I like basketball and the excitement of whether or not Trent would stay or go. In the book it has dad only caring about Nick as much when he was a good basketball player, so I thought it was cool how they sort of betrayed him as a bad guy.

This is because Nick finally realized that he was Gatsby's only true friend and that he had cared a lot about him. In addition, Nick realized that he didn't like living in West Egg since there wasn't anything there for him anymore. This reveals that Gatsby had impacted Nick's life

If there are any criticisms for this book it would stem from the over utilization of the spotlight placed on 5’3 guard Bogues. Bogues who became a Perennial superstar in the NBA, definitely deserved praise, however, Danois may have “ran the well dry” by continuously placing the limelight on Bogues with stories such as “When the fans saw “Mugsy” announced during the starting lineup, snickers and laughter came raining down from the stands” (3:45-3:46) and then Bogues would continue to show the crowd how good he was and he would always earn their respect.
