With the attack on Planned Parenthood and regarding the video scandal which blew Planned Parenthood in the spotlight once again, is the problem its self that checking the facts are number one. People are so quick to see a video about an unborn child and act, without checking the facts. Through Planned Parenthood, they are able to come and receive STI testing at affordable prices and if needed, treatment. A perfect example is when a sexually active female college student feels as if she’s at risk for a STI, she is able to get tested at Planned Parenthood and receive treatment. College students are unable to afford healthcare so Planned Parenthood provides them with a clinic that they are able to afford and receive the care they need. Through the organization, they are also able to become further educated on safe sex and will take the necessary precautions in the future. College students will also see Planed Parenthood as a place where they can get their questions about sex

Coloradoan Anti-Abortionist to be charged with Terrorism The police in Colorado is thinking of charging a man, named Dear, with terrorism. Dear have been talking incoherent things about ‘baby parts’ after being arrested and is said to be a very strong anti-abortionist. Dear has been arrested few days back for barging in Planned Parenthood clinic armed and then suddenly opening fire.

The goal is to defund Planned Parenthood for a year which means tax payers would stop paying. What I would like for people to realize is that Planned Parenthood is more that meets they eye. They are more than people give them credit for, and they are more than an abortion clinic. The services they provide range anywhere from sexual education and contraception education to helping with gender identity and sexual orientation, or from reproductive services to cancer screenings and STI testing and treatment. They services they provide are endless, and all equally important. As someone who has struggled with their sexual orientation and with self acceptance, if I had known that Planned Parenthood provided services such as these, I would have taken advantage of them and gotten the guidance that I needed.

This is exactly why Planned Parenthood should not be defunded. It offers many things from contraception, abortion, cancer screenings and preventions along with much more. Also, if they were to be defunded and abortions could no longer go on, many more unplanned pregnancies would happen and the cost of welfare would escalate a lot.

There are 650 health centers, and 56 independent local affiliations (Planned Parenthood at a Glance). That is a substantial amount of facilities to offer just abortions, but the truth is that only three percent of what Planned Parenthood does is for abortion services, 80 percent of their patients receive services to prevent unintended pregnancy (Planned Parent at a Glance). Planned Parenthood offers health care to 2.5 million men and women, 270,000 pap test and 579,000 unintended pregnancies each year(Planned Parenthood Provides Essential Services That Improve Women 's Health Planned Parenthood Provides Essential Services That Improve Women 's Health), and if it was defunded that it would not just affect the funding of abortions but it would cause an estimate of “390,000 women to lose their access to these essential services altogether, and up to 650,000 women might face reduced access to preventive health care within a year” (Planned Parenthood Provides Essential Services That Improve Women 's Health Planned Parenthood Provides Essential Services That Improve Women 's Health). Some women’s health organizations sell tissues from aborted fetuses for profit, which is not ethical. Moms are tricked into giving consent to sell the fetus’ parts, some major companies use the fetuses in ways that are somewhat cannibalistic, and selling the fetus’ parts is illegal.

Abortion and reproductive justice is a hot topic right now. With left and right wing legislators trying to support or reject reproductive justice rights, it is everywhere we turn. Unintended pregnancies happen around the world daily. According to Guttmacher Institute, “In 2011, the most recent year for which national-level data are available, 45% of all pregnancies in the United States were unintended, including three out of four pregnancies to women younger than 20.” Birth control was approved for contraceptive use in 1960 and after two years, 1.2 American women were on the pill. Birth control should be available without a prescription due to the positive feedback. It should only be available to customers aged higher than 15, and must have a monthly check up with their OBGYN.
