Of Mice and Men; A Literary Analysis
“I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you, and that 's why,” says George in the book Of Mice and Men. John Steinbeck wrote this book about two boys who took care of each other mentally and physically throughout. They endure many journeys together and are able to suffice over very little. They show the strength in friendships in many dissimilar ways and make diligent decisions that some may never be able to make. Of Mice and Men is not only about two friends and their journey together, but as well as giving one a deeper meaning of the book, such as showing the nature of their dreams, the characters as archetypes, and if the killing of Lennie is justified in the end.
In this literary novella, Steinbeck digs into the idea of the nature of dreams and that each man must make sacrifices or battle some other outside force to make a dream come true. In John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men”, Lennie and George travel together to work. They discuss the trouble they experience with Lennie's touching things he shouldn't and how that forces them to run, hide, and constantly search for work. Throughout the book, Steinbeck gives just a small picture of all the trouble Lennie has caused and how George continues to guide him to get by. A problem with a girl leads us to chapter 1 and 6, and how they share in setting, but George and Lennie's interactions differ. The similarities and differences of chapter 1 and 6 show how Lennie and George's cohesive friendship with a bright future develops into a loving bond that had to end.

John Steinbeck shows this through the life of George and Lennie and all their trials and tribulations they faced in their life. In the book “Of Mice and Men”, we see the bond George and Lennie have and the goal they share that they try to reach together. George constantly complains about the hassle he has to put up with because of Lenny, the most important character.

The books differ a lot, however they also share some similarities. ´ Of mice and men´ is about two men, named Lennie and George, who live in the time of the Great depression. They are looking for a job, but this isn’t easy because Lennie is mentally disabled so George needs to look after him the whole time.

In Of Mice and Men, George demonstrates that you can be friends with who ever you want which can make unique friendship and being open minded, because he has a friend that has trouble controlling himself, but George still continued to help him and stay beside him. Based on the above definition, the novel Of Mice and Men is a tragedy because Lennie can be considered a basically good person because he always attempts to do the right things, such as on page 43 when he explains how he didn’t intend to hurt the pups but that he just wanted to pet them. The novel Of Mice and Men can also be considered a tragedy because Lennie’s death on page 106 provokes the emotions of pity and fear in the reader. However, based on the above definition, the novel Of Mice and Men is not a tragedy because Lennie is not important to society.

George and Lennie are best friends and so they went together. Lennie has the mind of a 6 year old and needs to be with George.
