Throughout the senior project, I accomplished two big research papers, a trifold and brochure to represent my college and career choice, and many other forms of research about my chosen occupation.
By completing this project, I have learned that senior project is no joke. This project is huge and requires a lot of time and effort. If you want a high quality project you have to work hard and use your time wisely in school and outside of school. Yes, I chose a school that would prepare me for my career. The school I chose provided multiple programs and scholarships that are relevant to me. The total hours spent on my project would be close to around 70-75 hours. To manage my time effectively, I worked everyday in class up until the bell getting my assignments done. The dates assignments were given, I would get those assignments done that day. There is no time to waste with this project.

There are so many other things I could have been doing that are way more fun than senior project, so it was hard to stay focused. Also, getting enough sleep was a problem for me. I already have a busy life and managing my time between every aspect of my life was a bit of a struggle. The last problem I had was finding enough information about my career and finding what colleges offered programs for pediatric oncology. Pediatric oncology is not a wide known job so there wasn’t a whole lot of information for my career. My original plans for this project turned out different than the actual outcome. I learned that this career does not suit me as well as I thought it did. Knowing that, this would definitely not be a job I would consider to spend the rest of my life
So, step two of the assignment, I don't know really have any idea on what project to do because I don't have the assignments from the other classes I've taken, plus I don't really have an idea on how to construct the project. I'll just have
The hardest part was the research paper. The research paper was very stressful and frustrating in the beginning because I had no idea what my thesis statement would be. After I job shadowed and came up with my thesis statement, the paper was pretty easy. The rewarding part of the project was making an A on my research paper and other parts of the project. I learned that time management was the key when doing the Capstone Project.
It was an overall positive experience, and taught me skills I needed for future occupations,
All of the different applications and components that were implemented can easily be observed and displayed in the project. My knowledge and understanding of my topic and global context have been drastically widened. The importance of giving every situation and obstacle in life your all, then placing that on a global scale is even more amazing. My knowledge of rhetorical appeal is greater than before and this will only benefit my communication skills, which goes a long way in our day an age. My self-management and brainstorming skills have been improved upon after this personal project.
What did you learn from the project that you did not already know? From this project, I leaned a variety of different things
Throughout the course, we had several assignments that were split off into different units. Each assignment had a due date, whether it be a reading assignment or even a quiz. The reading assignments didn’t have anything that needed to be turned in, so honestly you wouldn’t have to read them on the specific dates. The dates do have importance though. If you didn’t read the assignments by the date specified, then you would get behind and not know what a threaded discussion was talking about when it asked you about a specific essay and your opinion on it.
As I am quickly approaching the end of my senior, I am looking back at how far I have come since freshman year and everything that Henley High School has helped me accomplish in my life. In preparation for the life that every senior must experience after school, the senior capstone project was put in place to help seniors find out what they would suit them as career and give them some of the necessary tools in achieving that. Part of the capstone was earning service hours at a non profit organization, that can go on a resume. With serving came a facilitator, who guides one’s service, and also the challenges and success of the service itself. To Provide help on future careers, Henley High School also provided an opportunity to take the CIS test
First Level Experience Questions What was your project? I was an usher for the winter choral concert at the Bishop 's School. I and the other ushers got there an hour early and helped out. We counted the chairs in the theater and then took tickets from and handed out programs to the audience as they came through the lobby doors. We then watched the first half of the show.
I wanted an out of the box project, not an explorer or a captain but, someone who really made an impact in peoples’ lives. I came up with quite a long list of options, eventually I narrowed it down to a broad topic. I wanted someone who worked for women 's’ rights and equality and I discover Amelia Earhart, and knew she was perfect. After researching I realized that Amelia was more influential that I ever thought she was. At that moment was set on researching Amelia Earhart.
While this was expected, my emotional and mental health also took a toll. I was drained and overwhelmed after the continual spew of information from the doctors. The feelings of sickness and worry was making it hard to do much of anything, especially when at school. It was evident that constantly thinking about the problems that could arise was not helping me complete everything that had to be done. My life continued to spiral as I struggled to keep up with my physical and emotional health on top of the mountain of work expected from me.
This project taught me multiple life lessons. These lessons included concepts such as communication skills, detailed planning, leadership, and vital importance of keeping a commitment. My Eagle Scout Project has given me experiences, and vital practice with skills that most seventeen-year old’s do not receive until later in life. The project has helped me grow and mature as a person. Working through this project has provided me with experiences with managerial responsibilities that I can use later in my life.
I was so unaware that most of my work would be online along with in class instruction and most assignments would be due at same time. Also, the discussion boards were a thing that would be graded. So, trying to handle five classes; two online and three in the class, has been a challenge. The final challenge has been the hardest, which is spending time taking care of my grandchildren. I have custody of them and there is never enough
Typically I wait until the last minute to do something. This often works but it is really stressful and probably not the best thing to do. Sometimes I will just never do the assignment. To improve these habits i'm going to start setting the deadline for these assignments an few days earlier then they are assigned. This way I can make myself do it before its due.
Students stated that they use due dates of the assignments as a criterion for setting their main goals. They stated that they find due dates on the calendar and to-do list. One of the problems that students expressed related to their goal setting based on to-do list was that it does not show all the deadlines for the next few weeks and do not let them to customize the list. The other problem they had was with calendar. They mentioned that although readings are necessary for their learning process, calendar do not show them because they do not have due dates.
By completing this resume assignment it help me realize that when I am assigned a project in one of my courses, if relevant to my major, I need to add it to my resume under experiences, or projects I’ve done. I believe after this year, I will have more experience and more projects to put on my resume to fill in the gaps I have under experience. By having those projects on my resume, I will be able to show potential employers what I am capable of and hopefully I will be able to have an internship this up and coming summer. This was an eye opening experience, I didn't realize until after how much of my experience was still from high school or items that were irrelevant to what I want to do. Now I have a better grasp on what I need to accomplish
